Extraordinary Witnesses 5-24-05

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Let the light of Your glory dawn in my heart this new day. "For it is the God Who said, 'Let light shine out of darkness,' Who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ" (2 Corinthians 4.6). ... Let us be Your witnesses through every circumstance -- filled with joy in times of triumph and celebration, patient and persistent in times of strain -- always hoping, always trusting, always faithfully pressing on in the calling of our destiny in Your glory. Let us represent Your nature in all seasons to all people. "So we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making His appeal through us" (2 Corinthians 5.20). "But we have this treasure in clay jars, so that it may be made clear that this extraordinary power belongs to God and does not come from us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be made visible in our bodies" (2 Corinthians 4.7-10). Lord, let Your light shine through us. Let our eyes be fixed on You, though let us be aware that others are watching how we live in times of joy and of sorrow, in times of abundance and in times of famine. Let faithfulness to You be a witness to the world around us of Your faithfulness to us. This extraordinary power to be Your extraordinary witnesses belongs to You and does not come from us. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen. Be encouraged this day!
