Blessings of Obedience 9-15-05

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Help me be still, as I watch and wait for Your leading this day. ... "He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little way from the shore. Then He sat down and taught the crowds from the boat. When He had finished speaking, He said to Simon, 'Put out into deep water and put down your nets for a catch.' Simon answered, 'Master, we have worked all night long but have caught nothing. Yet if You say so, I will let down the nets.' When they had done this, they caught so many fish that their nets were beginning to break" (Luke 5.3-6). Lord, it seems it is Your way to lead us step by step. First You lead us "a little way from the shore" before leading us out to the "deep water." We often want to go straight out to the deep waters, when You still have so much to teach us first a little closer to shore. Give us the patience to wait until You have finished speaking all that You desire to teach us at each step of the journey, before insisting that we move on ahead of Your leading. Free us from hurriedness that gets ahead of Your leading; and deliver us from hesitation when its time to move on. Then we will be overwhelmed with the blessings that come from obedience to Your timing and submission to Your ways. In Jesus' name we pray. Be encouraged this day!
