Morning by Morning, August 1 - The Power of Our Words   Good morning, Lord Jesus. I bow my heart and open my spirit to wait for Your leading as I begin my day focused on You. …   “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit” (Proverbs 18:21). My words matter. So purify my words; sanctify my tongue. You are the very Word of God (John 1:1). You abide in me as I abide in You, so Your words can abide in me and flow through me as a child of God and disciple of Christ to bear much fruit--good fruit that will last--not just good fruit for me but for those I speak to and pray for (John 15:4). You even said, “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you” (John 15:7). Lord, line up my words with Your words, my heart with Your Heart, my spirit with Your Spirit. Your words “are spirit, and they are life” (John 6:63). Let my mouth be filled with Your words of spirit and life, moving by Your Spirit with Your Life, as You speak Your words through my life into all that You desire. The power of Your grace that’s released through the power of our words into the world around us is one of the great blessings our inheritance as we believe and trust with our faith in You--a blessing that comes with both authority and responsibility, as vessels of Your words in our world. As You taught Your first disciples, so You continue to teach us today to use well the power of our words, yielded to You as the Word of God: “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them” (Mark 11:22-24). Give me grace to “pray” and then grace to “say.” Then what I “say,  when it comes from when “pray,” will move mountains of all that stands in the way of Your kingdom coming and Your will being done on earth as it is in heaven through my prayers and my words surrendered and yielded to Your heart and Your will. According to the spiritual principle of this Word of God, when we “have faith in God,” “whoever says” will have “whatever he says” when he “says to (whatever) mountain” they face to “be removed and be cast (away)” if he “does not doubt in his heart.” Lord, give me a heart like that. Give me a heart full of faith like that. Word of God, speak into me today. Word of God, speak through me today, in the full measure of both responsibility and authority You entrust to me today, I pray. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today. Morning by Morning, July 31 - “Now it Happened on a Certain Day” Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be exalted in my heart and every moment of my day (Philippians 2:9). ... “Now it happened on a certain day, as (Jesus) was teaching, that there were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting by, who had come out of every town of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was present to heal them” (Luke 5:17).   Last night at the Healing Academy at Aldersgate Renewal Ministries, I was beginning to share a message of Your healing the paralytic man after seeing the faith of his friends and their persistence to bring him to You (Luke 5:17-26). But as I began to share the Passage of Scripture, these first Words of the Story stood out to me in a fresh way as never before:   “Now it happened on a certain day” (v. 17).   There was “a certain day” that this healing was to “happen.” It was a day when “the power of the Lord was present to heal” (v. 17). And that time, that day, determined for this man’s healing was “now.”   In that mystery of both the sovereignty of God and the persistence of faith, this man was healed. You’re the God who knows the end from the beginning and the beginning from the end (Isaiah 46:10). And at the same, time, You call us to choose in the freedom we have to “only believe” (Mark 5:36). And even in that, before You healed this man physically, You first addressed a need for his inner healing, spiritually and emotionally, from the inside out, when You addressed his need to know and hear Your Words, “Your sins are forgiven you” (v. 20). Then, after his inner healing, You spoke the words, “Arise, take up you bed, and go to your house” (v. 24).   His day for healing was “now.” “It happened on a certain day.” It was all in the sovereignty of Your timing and Your way; yet it also required a healing of his heart and embracing of forgiveness first before the manifestation of his miracle. Your sovereignty and our free will--at the same time. In this case, Your desire to heal and the man’s friends’ desire to “bring him in ... into the midst before Jesus” in the persistence of their faith and determination of their will to get him into Your Presence all came together for this moment of “now” (v. 19).   Such a mystery and yet so much to learn of the ways and will and timing of God to receive our healing from God. But I thank You for these certain days that come when “now” is the time for it to happen. And I thank You for giving us grace to let it go and release it to You whenever we’ve been disappointed in the days it didn’t happen before or even disappointed in You. Thank You for the grace to heal us and free us from the effects of when our hearts have even grown sick from “hope deferred” in the disappointments of the past (Proverbs 13:12).   Free us from that, that we can embrace fresh faith to believe for the certain day when our healing for ourselves or for our friends is “now.” In expectant faith, persistent faith, give us grace to believe and grace to receive the Truth of Your Word that “With God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26); and that “All things are possible for one who believes” (Mark 9:23). “Now may the God of hope fill (us) with all joy and peace in believing, that (we) may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit!” (Romans 15:13) In Jesus’ name I pray. Healing Academy with Our Teacher the Lord Jesus Christ - July 30, 2024

 

Morning by Morning, July 30 - Healing Academy with Our Teacher the Lord Jesus Christ Good morning, Lord Jesus. You are the Word of God (John 1:1). As I welcome You into my day, I welcome Your Word in my thoughts, my desires, my will, and my ways to shape me and direct me today. ... This morning, we’ll begin the first of three days and nights where I’m so honored and excited to be teaching the Healing Academy for Aldersgate Renewal Ministries at their homebase in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, just on the outskirts of Nashville. May You be our Teacher (John 13:13). And I’m filled with expectant faith of all You will do! As I pray that word “expectant” this morning, a healing story from the early church, freshly empowered by Your Holy Spirit, comes to mind about a man “expecting to receive something from (Your disciples who were filled with Your Spirit” (Acts 3:5): “Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour. And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms from those who entered the temple; who, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked for alms. And fixing his eyes on him, with John, Peter said, ‘Look at us.’ So he gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them. Then Peter said, ‘Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.’ And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them--walking, leaping, and praising God!” (Acts 3:1-9) Come, Holy Spirit! May we be expectant in our faith, expectant in our hope, expectant in our trust in You that You will move in Your power and grace, Your mercy and love, as we receive the teaching and impartation of the power of Your Word and Your Spirit in these days together. As one of Your teachers, sent to make Your disciples, grounded in Your Word and filled with Your Spirit, I have no silver or gold or anything else to give but You. But You’re all we need. Apart from You, we can do nothing (John 15:5). But we praise God, that we are not apart from You. You are with us always (Matthew 28:20). Your Spirit abides within us always--right here in our words, our thoughts, our actions, as we yield to You and Your words, Your will, and Your ways (Romans 8:9). The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in us! (Romans 8:11) You heal in many ways in our “spirit, soul, and body,” as You come in Your power and love to set things right again within us, as “the God of peace”--the God of shalom--meaning nothing missing, nothing broken, but whole and free in You (1 Thessalonians 5:23). “He who calls (us) is faithful, who also will do it” (v. 24). As I’ll be teaching this week, You heal in at least five different ways: Sometimes You heal instantly in miracles of the moment; sometimes you heal progressively in the little by little and day by day moments in the unfolding of time; sometimes You heal through doctors and nurses and medicines and the things You have placed on this earth with the healing properties of Your nature; sometimes You heal by giving us the grace to persevere until our ultimate healing to come; and sometimes You heal in the ultimate healing of our resurrection in You. But You are Jehovah Rapha--“the Lord who heals” (Exodus 15:26). That’s one of Your names because that part of Your nature, manifesting Your will for us on earth as it is in heaven by Your Word and Your Spirit, even moving in power through Your disciples. That why Your Scripture commands us “pray for one another, that (we) may be healed” (James 5:16). Come, Holy Spirit! Come open up the heavens over us, over this place, over everywhere You meet us and then send us. Come fill us up with expectant faith to believe and embrace all of Your Word for all of our lives--this day and every day. “And these signs will follow those who believe!” (Mark 16:17) “All things are possible for one who believes!” (Mark 9:23). “Now may the God of hope fill (us) with all joy and peace in believing, that (we) may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit!” (Romans 15:13) In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today. Morning by Morning, July 26 - The God Who “Removes Kings and Raises Up Kings” Good morning, Lord Jesus. My human spirit arises to commune with Your Holy Spirit--“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with (us) all” (2 Corinthians 13:14). ... When the Prophet Daniel was captive in Babylon and King Nebuchadnezzar demanded that the wise men reveal and interpret his dream, Daniel prayed and “the secret was revealed to Daniel in a night vision. So Daniel blessed the God of heaven” (Daniel 2:19). “Daniel answered and said: ‘Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, For wisdom and might are His. And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise And knowledge to those who have understanding. He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, And light dwells with Him. “‘I thank You and praise You, O God of my fathers; You have given me wisdom and might, And have now made known to me what we asked of You, For You have made known to us the king’s demand’” (Daniel 2:20-23). As Daniel made known both the dream of the king and its interpretation from his revelation from God, he declared, “There is a God in heaven who reveals secrets” (v. 28). And the secrets revealed in the dream were of the governments of that day of all the governments to come on the earth afterwards (v. 36). Those kingdoms would come and go. But there would come a day when “the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever! (v. 44) It’s the same revelation given to the Apostle John, that there will come a day when this Word will be fulfilled: “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!” (Revelation 11:15) You are the God who reveals secrets. You are the God who answers prayer. You are the God who “removes kings and raises up kings” (Daniel 2:21). In this season where there’s a shifting in the governments of our world, where the rulers of nations are being determined, where “kings” are being removed or raised up, I join in the prayers of Your people around the world, for You to establish those in authority--in our nation and in the nations of the earth--who seek Your face, listen for Your voice, pursue Your wisdom, and lead with Your heart in Your ways. We know there are great battles in the heavenly realms over the nations (Daniel 10:13, 20). But despite the battles and even the outcomes that will come to pass according to the Prophecies of Your Word, our part is to pray, our part is to proclaim, “Your kingdom come! Your will be done. On earth as it is in heaven!” (Matthew 6:10) You’re the God who still reveals secrets. And You’re the God who still answers prayers. O God of heaven and earth, answer our prayers that we would be “one nation under God” and that the God of the nations would be glorified as You remove and raise up “kings.” In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today.
