"Due Time" - November 30, 2020

Morning by Morning, November 30 - "Due Time"

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be at the center of my heart and the forefront of my mind, as I seek to begin my day embraced by my Father, centered in Christ, and filled with the Holy Spirit. ...

"Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you" (1 Peter 5:6-7).

There is a "due time." Just as You make all things new, You call all things due at just the right time in just the right way. And just as Your thoughts are not our thoughts and Your ways are not our ways (Isaiah 55:8), Your "due time" is not always our "due time."

No doubt the enemy of our souls can be the source of many of our delays (Daniel 10:12-14). He's a thief of Your plans and purposes for our lives who comes "to steal and kill and destroy" (John 10:10), "like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour" (1 Peter 5:8). But at the same time, there are times when it's not delay from our enemy but the "due time" of God we're waiting for. And it's in learning to trust and wait for the "due time" of God that we learn "it's through faith and patience we inherit the promises" (Hebrews 6:12).

Our God is greater than our enemy, greater than any other, even greater our than our perceived need for results to be produced in our time and in our way. "He who is in (us) is greater than the he who is in the world" (1 John 4:4). There's no greater name than Your name (Acts 4:12). And at Your name everything less must bow and confess that You are Lord (Philippians 2:9-11). But there is a "due time" for all things to be done according to Your plan.

So give us grace to patiently wait on Your "due time." In the meantime, You're exposing what needs to be exposed and bringing to light what needs to come to light. You're at work in ways we don't always see and working things together for good in ways we can find hard to believe (Romans 8:28).

We're tempted to say, "Surly, Lord, it's about due time!" But by the power of Your grace at work in us and in our world, may we choose to trust You and say, "Yes, Lord. I trust You and Your time." And in "due time" it will be Your perfect time, at just the right time. For You're the God who makes all things beautiful in Your time (Ecclesiastes 3:11) -- in Your "due time." In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My friend, may you be empowered with God's grace and patience to wait upon His "due time" for all that He's put in your heart to be fulfilled according to His plan, in Jesus name. Please pray the same for me. And I join with you and so many in prayer for our nation through this challenging time. God bless you, my friend!

Biblical Proportions in Our Days - November 25, 2020

Morning by Morning, November 25 - Biblical Proportions in Our Days

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Put Your thoughts in my mind and Your desires in my heart, to lead me in Your ways today -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. ...

"Just as it was in the days of Noah, so too it will be in the days of the Son of Man" (Luke 17:26).

The days of Noah were days of Biblical proportions. And so too it will be in our days. Just as the waters covered the sea and all the earth, so too shall "the earth be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea" (Habakkuk 2:14; Isaiah 11:9).

Son of Man, Son of God, come in Your glory! Come cover the earth and fill our hearts with the light of Your glory! Let nothing be hidden but all laid bare for all to see -- here in our hearts and here in our land.

In these days of the Son of Man, let there be a great flood of Your glory so that there may be a great harvest for Your kingdom! (Matthew 13:39 and 24:14; Revelation 5:9)

"The earth is the Lord's and all that is in it,
    the world, and those who live in it;
for He has founded it on the seas,
and established it on the rivers.

Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord?
And who shall stand in His holy place?'
Those who have clean hands and pure hearts,
who do not lift up their souls to what is false,
    and do not swear deceitfully.
They will receive blessing from the Lord,
and vindication from the God of their salvation.
Such is the company of those who seek him,
who seek the face of the God of Jacob.

Lift up your heads, O gates!
and be lifted up, O ancient doors!
that the King of Glory may come in.
Who is the King of Glory?
    The Lord, strong and mighty,
    the Lord, mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, O gates!
and be lifted up, O ancient doors!
that the King of Glory may come in.
Who is this King of Glory?
    The Lord of hosts,
He is the King of Glory!" (Psalm 24:1-10)

Son of Man, Son of God, King of Glory -- open the gates and come into our lives and our land with a mighty flood of Your glory in the Biblical proportions of our days! In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My friend, may you be filled with hope, trusting in the One who fills the earth with the light of His glory in the Biblical proportions of our days, in Jesus name. Please pray the same for me. And I join with you and so many in prayer for our nation through this challenging time. God bless you, my friend!

"Church at Philadelphia -- No One May Seize Your Crown" - November 24, 2020

Morning by Morning, November 24 - "Church at Philadelphia -- No One May Seize Your Crown"

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Give me Your heart, as I seek to listen for Your leading and walk in Your ways -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. ...

"And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write:

These are the words of the Holy One, the True One,
who has the key of David,
who opens and no one will shut,
who shuts and no one opens:

'I know your works. Look, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut. I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept My word and have not denied My name. I will make those of the synagogue of Satan who say that they are Jews and are not, but are lying -- I will make them come and bow down before your feet, and they will learn that I have loved you. Because you have kept My word of patient endurance, I will keep you from the hour of trial that is coming on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth. I am coming soon; hold fast to what you have, so that no one may seize your crown. If you conquer, I will make you a pillar in the temple of My God; you will never go out of it. I will write on you the name of My God, and the name of the city of My God, the new Jerusalem that comes down from My God out of heaven, and My own new name. Let anyone who has an ear listen to what the Spirit is saying to the churches'" (Revelation 3:7-13).

Yes, Lord. I hear. Yes, Lord. Let us hear -- Your church, Your people who are called by Your name, Your faithful ones who are holding fast with patient endurance to all You have crowned with authority. Let us keep Your word and pass our test of faith.

By the power of Your grace at work within Your praying, persevering church -- especially when it feels we have little power and wavering faith -- You remind us that all power in heaven and earth have been given to You (Matthew 28:18). And You remind us that You alone have the power to open the doors that no man can open for himself and shut the doors that no man can shut for himself (Isaiah 22:22).

You will have Your temple. And may we be Your pillars of that temple who stand firm, who hold fast, who do not crumble or fall, who bow to none other than the Lord Jesus Christ. When we are weak, then we are strong in You, for Your power is made perfect in our weakness and the power of Your grace is sufficient for us (2 Corinthians 12:9).

O God who holds the key of David, who turns the hearts of kings, Your grace is sufficiently powerful for us to keep pressing in and pressing on to persevere in faith until we see Your kingdom come and Your will be done -- here in our "Philadelphia" and every "city" and "church" where there remains a remnant who are called by Your name, who are fervently calling on Your name, and who are faithfully proclaiming the power of Your name. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My friend, may you hold fast in faith, empowered by the grace of the One who opens doors and shut doors according to His will and power, as His people pray, in Jesus name. Please pray the same for me. And I join with you and so many in fasting and prayer for our nation through this challenging time. God bless you, my friend!

Fighting Our Battles from Above - November 20, 2020

Morning by Morning, November 20 - Fighting Our Battles from Above

Good morning, Lord Jesus. I speak out Your name -- the name every name -- and every lesser thing in the spiritual atmosphere around me must bow its knee and yield to the authority of Your name as Lord of all. ...

"Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
And being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name:
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father" (Philippians 2:5-11 KJV).

Though "every knee should bow," they don't usually bow without a fight. And though "every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord," they usually say a lot of other mean and hurtful things first.

So You call us to keep our eyes on You. You remind us to keep looking up, as You keep lifting up our spirits in You. "So if (we) have been raised with Christ, (we) seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. (We) set (our) minds on things above, not on things that are on earth, for (we) have died, and (our) life is hidden with Christ in God" (Colossians 3:1-3).

From the place of Your Presence, You empower us to fight the battles we face. From the intimacy of Your embrace and the security of Your love, You reveal to us the dimensions of Your Being we only see on the battlefield and we can only learn as we follow You as the Commander of the Army of the Lord through the battles we must fight (Joshua 5:14).

So as I begin my day, let me be first to bow my knees and confess with my tongue that You are Lord, to glory of God my Father. Fill me with Your Spirit and empower me for the battles. Give me "wisdom from above" (James 3:17) and courage from within (Joshua 1:6). And give me the confidence to know that every battle I'll face and every battle I'll fight already belongs to the Lord (1 Samuel 17:47). In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My friend, may you be lifted up into the intimate embrace of the Presence of God, with your eyes on Jesus, to fight your battles from above and know every battle belongs to the Lord, in Jesus' name. Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

"Steadfast." - November 19, 2020

Morning by Morning, November 19 - "Steadfast."

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Help me hear Your voice and sense Your leading, as I begin my day seeking to be centered in You -- grounded in Your Word and filled with Your Spirit. ...

As I watch and wait, I hear in my heart, "Steadfast. Be steadfast. Do not back up. Do not back off. But be steadfast in Me and all I have put in your heart." ...

Yes, Lord. ...

All the challenging and changing circumstances that seem to pop up every day seem to pressure me to pull away from the path You've set before me. And it's true we must be adaptable, flexible, spontaneous and ready to respond to the unexpected. But at the same time, we must be grounded, steady, steadfast and true to who we are in You, and maybe even more importantly, who You are in us.

This Word of Your Scripture comes to mind as I ponder Your message to my spirit this morning:

"Therefore, my beloved, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, because you know that in the Lord your labor is not in vain" (1 Corinthians 15:58).

When I'm steadfast and immovable in my trust in You, in my confidence in Your good heart and Your perfect plan for me and my life, I'm free to excel in "the work of the Lord" -- in the work You've called me to, on the path You've set before me. Then whatever I do, as I do it unto You, my labor will not be in vain. The moments of my days will matter. You will make a difference as You have Your way through my life.

So give me the grace, by the power of Your Spirit at work within me, to hold the course, to run my race, to fight the good fight of the faith You've assigned to my life -- full of the opportunities and challenges You've hand-picked for me to overcome and come through to make me more like each day. "For this is the will of God, (my) sanctification" (1 Thessalonians 4:3). That I "be conformed to the image of (Your) Son" (Romans 8:9), as You are changing me into Your image from glory to glory (2 Corinthians 3:18). That I be free to be like Jesus in all the ways You've chosen to express Your life, Your nature, and Your will through me. As You are, so am I to be in my world in the unique way You've created me, just as You've created every one of Your children (1 John 4:17).

I can be "steadfast" in my heart toward You because You're so "steadfast" in Your heart towards me. "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness" (Lamentations 3:22-23).

I thank You for Your calling and Your grace to be steadfast in You this day. "Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love Him" (James 1:12). In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My friend, may you be steadfast, faithful and true, to who you are in Christ and who Christ is in you, to fulfill your destiny, secure and confident and steadfast in your identity, in Jesus' name. Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

The Word of the Lord Sent Forth to Set Right - November 18, 2020

Morning by Morning, November 18 - The Word of the Lord Sent Forth to Set Right

Good morning, Lord Jesus. I lift up my face and open up my heart to seek You and listen for Your leading -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. ...

“Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of hosts” (Zechariah 4:6).

As I listen and wait, I hear in my heart: “Might does not make right. Power does not make right. I say what is right and I set things right by what I say.” ...

Yes, Lord. Speak Your word. Send forth Your word. Set things right by the power of Your word. As the Word of God says:

“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven,
and do not return there until they have watered the earth,
making it bring forth and sprout,
giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
so shall My word be that goes out from My mouth;
it shall not return to Me empty,
but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,
and succeed in the thing for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:10-11).

And let our words agree with Your words. For one way You’ve created us in Your image is by the power of the words we speak. “Death and life are in the power of the tongue” (Proverbs 18:21). And what great power You release through our words when our words agree with Yours -- not doubting in our hearts, not wavering in our submission to Your will, and not resisting the leading of Your Spirit. As Your Word teaches us, “Have faith in God. Truly I tell you, if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and if you do not doubt in your heart, but believe that what you say will come to pass, it will be done for you. So I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours” (Mark 11:22-24).

So Lord, let our hearts be as one with Your heart and our minds as one with Your mind. “For who has known the mind of the Lord, so as to instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ” (1 Corinthians 2:16).

As we humble our hearts to pray, as we press in to seek Your face and pursue Your will, put Your thoughts in our minds and Your desires in our hearts, so it will be Your words in our mouths to agree with your will and Your word in our world. And nothing can stop the word of the Lord. It will not return empty. It will accomplish the thing for which Your send it. No man’s might. No man’s power. But all by the might and power of Your Spirit to say what is right as You set things right. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My friend, may you agree with the will and the word of the Lord, going forth by His Spirit to set things right in our worldin Jesus name. Please pray the same for me. I join with you with expectant faith and prayer for our nation and for our witness in the midst of these days! God bless you, my friend!
