Morning by Morning, January 13 - Holy is Your Name Good morning, Lord Jesus. I look to You and listen for Your leading -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. ... “God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, ‘Say this to the people of Israel: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’” God also said to Moses, ‘Say this to the people of Israel: ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is My name forever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations’” (Exodus 2:14-15). I’ve been deeply meditating on Your name for several days in my early morning prayer times -- I AM WHO I AM. In the original Hebrew as the four Hebrew letters YHWH. When the vowels of Adonai are added between these consonants, as has been a tradition, it becomes Yahweh, or Jehova. And in the Bible translations, it is often expressed as LORD in all capital letters or LORD GOD in many expressions. In the religion of Judaism and some branches of Messianic Christianity and others, it’s even considered too sacred to write or speak. Your name speaks of eternity, infinity, without beginning and without end. Everlasting to everlasting. There’s so much depth here that I know I’m only scratching the surface in beginning to grasp what You are speaking and revealing and teaching. And I’m sure this will continue to be a deep topic in my spiritual journey into deep prayer in this season. I know I have much to learn and probably even much to be corrected about what I think I have learned so far. Even this holy and sacred name of God is expressed and fulfilled in You, Lord Jesus. When You took up the identity of this name of I AM for Yourself, You were accused of blasphemy; and they tried to stone You to death: “‘Your father Abraham rejoiced that he would see My day. He saw it and was glad.’ So the Jews said to Him, ‘You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?’ Jesus said to them, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.’ So they picked up stones to throw at Him, but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple” (John 8:56-59). Later, You also revealed Yourself to John and as he wrote of Your words of Your identity in the Book of Revelation: “‘I AM the Alpha and the Omega,’ says the Lord God, ‘Who is and Who was and Who is to come, the Almighty’” (Revelation 1:8). There’s so much more -- even a lifetime and eternity of more -- to learn and to know, then to learn more and know more -- of Your name and all that means. For Your name reveals Your nature. And Your nature is Your identity. And we are called to come to know You more, as the Apostle Paul expressed of his own spiritual journey into the spiritual maturity, being conformed into the image of the Son of God: “Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For His sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith -- that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and may share His sufferings, becoming like Him in His death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me His own” (Philippians 3:8-12). But right now, all I want to say is, “Holy is Your name. Holy is Your name. Holy is Your name.” Eternal One. Infinite One. Holy and Everlasting One. I worship You. Holy is Your name.
