Morning by Morning, August 5 - Planting and Watering for Increase Good morning, Lord Jesus. “King of Kings and Lord of Lords,” rule and reign in my heart and every moment of my day (Revelation 19:16). ... “So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor. For we are God’s fellow workers...” (1 Corinthians 3:7-9). Thank You for the honor and blessing of being one of Your workers in the harvest field of Cartagena, Colombia this past week. May every word and prayer that we were able to plant by Your grace, along with every soul that we were able to water and nurture in the power of Your love receive Your increase. Thank You for every person who prays for us, encourages us, supports us to make this ministry possible. We couldn’t do any of this without You and without them! As the Apostle Paul said, “I thank my God every time I remember (them). In all my prayers for (them), I aways pray with joy because of (their) partnership in the Gospel...” (Philippians 1:3-5). As I return home now, my heart is full--full of love for the people here, full of thanksgiving for all You’ve done here, full of expectation for all You will do here. Thank You for allowing me and our ministry to be a part of this reawakening for revival in Colombia, in South America, and throughout the world. “And this Gospel of the Kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all nations, and then the end will come!” (Matthew 24:14). You’re still healing the brokenhearted and setting captives free! (Isaiah 61:1; Luke 4:18) Our Father is still sending His Holy Spirit to prepare the way of the Lord in hearts of Your people and in the earth for the coming of Christ (Isaiah 40:3; Malachi 3:1; Matthew 3:3). One day soon You’ll come again in the clouds of Your glory (1 Thessalonians 4:16). And every day between this day and that day to come, You’re coming in Your glory in our hearts who are hungry for Your Presence and longing for You to display Your power and authority through Your people on this earth--a people who have the authority of the name of Jesus in their words and the character of the nature of Jesus in their hearts. For As You are, so are we to be in our world! (1 John 4:17) Keep doing Your work in me and in us, as You do Your work through us, everywhere You’d send us throughout our world. As we plant and water, as You give the increase, “the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea!” (Habakkuk 2:14) In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today. Morning by Morning, August 5 - “Near to the Brokenhearted”

 

Morning by Morning, August 5 - “Near to the Brokenhearted” Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be at the center of my heart and every moment of my day. ... “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted     and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous,     but the Lord delivers him out of them all” (Psalm 34:17-19 ESV). You know every place where our hearts are broken, where our spirits are crushed. You know every moment when our hope is fading, when our faith is struggling. You know and You care. You move and You act. You draw near and You save; You lift up and You heal. You deliver us out of all our afflictions, as You remind us You’re with us in all our battles. As David expressed in that same Psalm of laying his heart bare before You and making his needs known to You without trying to hide them from You: “I sought the Lord, and He answered me     and delivered me from all my fears.... This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him     and saved him out of all his troubles” (v. 4, 6). You saw and cared. You heard and answered. And You gave him the confidence of this Promise: “Those who look to Him are radiant,     and their faces shall never be ashamed” (v. 5). “The Lord redeems the life of His servants;     none of those who take refuge in Him will be condemned” (v. 22). Thank You for seeing and hearing. Thank You for moving and acting, redeeming our sufferings, as You draw near to heal and to save--healing the brokenhearted and saving the crushed in spirit. Thank You for giving us grace to keep looking up to You from every place in our hearts that are broken and every place in our spirits that are crushed--even “radiant” with the Light of Your Glory shining in the midst of every dark place You’re bring us through (v. 5). With that same heart of David that keeps looking to You and trusting in You, knowing You will always come through, “I will bless the Lord at all times;     His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in the Lord;     let the humble hear and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me,     and let us exalt His name together!” (v. 1-3) In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today. Morning by Morning, August 1 - The Power of Our Words

 

Morning by Morning, August 1 - The Power of Our Words   Good morning, Lord Jesus. I bow my heart and open my spirit to wait for Your leading as I begin my day focused on You. …   “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit” (Proverbs 18:21). My words matter. So purify my words; sanctify my tongue. You are the very Word of God (John 1:1). You abide in me as I abide in You, so Your words can abide in me and flow through me as a child of God and disciple of Christ to bear much fruit--good fruit that will last--not just good fruit for me but for those I speak to and pray for (John 15:4). You even said, “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you” (John 15:7). Lord, line up my words with Your words, my heart with Your Heart, my spirit with Your Spirit. Your words “are spirit, and they are life” (John 6:63). Let my mouth be filled with Your words of spirit and life, moving by Your Spirit with Your Life, as You speak Your words through my life into all that You desire. The power of Your grace that’s released through the power of our words into the world around us is one of the great blessings our inheritance as we believe and trust with our faith in You--a blessing that comes with both authority and responsibility, as vessels of Your words in our world. As You taught Your first disciples, so You continue to teach us today to use well the power of our words, yielded to You as the Word of God: “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them” (Mark 11:22-24). Give me grace to “pray” and then grace to “say.” Then what I “say,  when it comes from when “pray,” will move mountains of all that stands in the way of Your kingdom coming and Your will being done on earth as it is in heaven through my prayers and my words surrendered and yielded to Your heart and Your will. According to the spiritual principle of this Word of God, when we “have faith in God,” “whoever says” will have “whatever he says” when he “says to (whatever) mountain” they face to “be removed and be cast (away)” if he “does not doubt in his heart.” Lord, give me a heart like that. Give me a heart full of faith like that. Word of God, speak into me today. Word of God, speak through me today, in the full measure of both responsibility and authority You entrust to me today, I pray. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today. Morning by Morning, July 31 - “Now it Happened on a Certain Day”

 

Morning by Morning, July 31 - “Now it Happened on a Certain Day” Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be exalted in my heart and every moment of my day (Philippians 2:9). ... “Now it happened on a certain day, as (Jesus) was teaching, that there were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting by, who had come out of every town of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was present to heal them” (Luke 5:17).   Last night at the Healing Academy at Aldersgate Renewal Ministries, I was beginning to share a message of Your healing the paralytic man after seeing the faith of his friends and their persistence to bring him to You (Luke 5:17-26). But as I began to share the Passage of Scripture, these first Words of the Story stood out to me in a fresh way as never before:   “Now it happened on a certain day” (v. 17).   There was “a certain day” that this healing was to “happen.” It was a day when “the power of the Lord was present to heal” (v. 17). And that time, that day, determined for this man’s healing was “now.”   In that mystery of both the sovereignty of God and the persistence of faith, this man was healed. You’re the God who knows the end from the beginning and the beginning from the end (Isaiah 46:10). And at the same, time, You call us to choose in the freedom we have to “only believe” (Mark 5:36). And even in that, before You healed this man physically, You first addressed a need for his inner healing, spiritually and emotionally, from the inside out, when You addressed his need to know and hear Your Words, “Your sins are forgiven you” (v. 20). Then, after his inner healing, You spoke the words, “Arise, take up you bed, and go to your house” (v. 24).   His day for healing was “now.” “It happened on a certain day.” It was all in the sovereignty of Your timing and Your way; yet it also required a healing of his heart and embracing of forgiveness first before the manifestation of his miracle. Your sovereignty and our free will--at the same time. In this case, Your desire to heal and the man’s friends’ desire to “bring him in ... into the midst before Jesus” in the persistence of their faith and determination of their will to get him into Your Presence all came together for this moment of “now” (v. 19).   Such a mystery and yet so much to learn of the ways and will and timing of God to receive our healing from God. But I thank You for these certain days that come when “now” is the time for it to happen. And I thank You for giving us grace to let it go and release it to You whenever we’ve been disappointed in the days it didn’t happen before or even disappointed in You. Thank You for the grace to heal us and free us from the effects of when our hearts have even grown sick from “hope deferred” in the disappointments of the past (Proverbs 13:12).   Free us from that, that we can embrace fresh faith to believe for the certain day when our healing for ourselves or for our friends is “now.” In expectant faith, persistent faith, give us grace to believe and grace to receive the Truth of Your Word that “With God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26); and that “All things are possible for one who believes” (Mark 9:23). “Now may the God of hope fill (us) with all joy and peace in believing, that (we) may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit!” (Romans 15:13) In Jesus’ name I pray.
