Morning by Morning, May 8, 2025 - “Wars and Rumors of Wars” Where I am in the World, but Trusting in Jesus Good morning, Lord Jesus. You are my Rock and Refuge, never failing, strong and mighty. As I begin my day, I listen for Your leading (John 10:27). ... As I begin my morning in the country of Pakistan, I’m mindful of the attacks taking place on the border between India and Pakistan, what’s been called an “act of war.” Your Word comes to mind: “And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. ... “But he who endures to the end shall be saved. And this Gospel of the Kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come” (Matthew 24:6-14). Lord, even use these tensions in the world to draw people to You. You are the Solid Rock. You are our Secure Refuge. There is no other (Acts 4:12). In You, we need not fear. In You, we are not dependent upon the outcomes of the threats and battles of this world.  As You said, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). Though my phone is blowing up with texts and emails from friends from around the world who know I’m in Pakistan during these suddenly exciting days, I am at peace because I am in You. By Your grace, I am embraced by my Father, centered in Christ, and filled with Your Holy Spirit, continuing the mission for which You sent me as Your “ambassador for Christ” in Karachi, Lahore, Pattoki and all along the way with Your words of healing and hope, spirit and life in every way You would use me as Your servant, disciple, and friend (2 Corinthians 5:20; John 13:16 and 15:15). Take this sudden turn of events and turn it all around to open hearts to You and the security of peace only You can bring—Prince of Peace, King of Kings, Lord of Lords (Isaiah 9:6; Relation 19:16). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today. Morning by Morning, May 6, 2025 - Setting Captives Free in Jesus’ Name!

 

Morning by Morning, May 6, 2025 - Setting Captives Free in Jesus’ Name! Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be at the center of my heart and thoughts, all that I am and all that I’ll do this day (Colossians 3:3). ... “Then they came to Jesus, and saw the one who had been demon-possessed and had the legion, sitting and clothed in his right mind” (Mark 5:15). Lord Jesus, You are “the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). You are still healing the broken-hearted and setting captives free through the power of Your name and Your Holy Spirit through Your Body of Christ today (Luke 4:18; John 20:21; Mark 16:17-18). On our first night of ministry in Karachi, Pakistan, a woman came up for personal prayer ministry after the message You gave me for healing and hope. Praying for her, she buckled at her knees; and I thought at first she was “resting” in the Spirit. But soon she was twisting and turning, making snarling noises and even clawed a fingernail into my arm. She was not “resting” in the Holy Spirit, but fighting by the spirits that sought to control her and hold her captive from receiving the love and power of God in the mighty name of Jesus. But You gave me the strong sense to persevere through the battle, calmly asserting the authority of Your name over all that tormented her and tried to keep her from the Presence of Your love and all You had for her. In time, all her body relaxed and truly rested, as I gently prayed over her and then went on to pray for others. Not much later, we stood together to celebrate what God had done for her. Her face radiated a smile of deep tranquility, peace, and freedom—“restored to (her) right mind.” Praise God! All glory to You! What a wonderful start for these days of ministry in Pakistan! May You continue to give me Your words to speak, Your love to share, everywhere You send me in the authority of Your name and power of Your love. Freely we receive and freely we give (Matthew 10:8). Through all Your disciples, led by Your Spirit, compelled by Your love, may the world see that You are “the same yesterday, today, and forever!” That Jesus is alive as Savior and Healer for all who would come and embrace the love and grace of God! (John 3:16) In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today. Morning by Morning, April 29, 2025 - Preparing for the Journey in the Power of the Spirit Good morning, Lord Jesus. I look to You and listen for Your leading, to begin my day embraced by my Father, centered in Christ, and filled with Your Holy Spirit. ... “Then (Jesus) called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. He sent them to preach the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick. And He said to them, ‘Take nothing for the journey, neither staffs nor bag nor bread nor money; and do not have two tunics apiece’” (Luke 9:1-3). Your first disciples prepared for the journey. They didn’t pack suitcases; they trusted in Your promises. They placed their priority in their obedience to You, trusting in Your power and authority to flow through them. They went forth in Your name to extend Your Kingdom with demonstrations of Your power and love, preaching Your Good News of mercy and grace for all who would listen. In the words of The Message Version, “Don’t load yourselves up with equipment. Keep it simple; you are the equipment.” Today, I’m preparing for my journey, packing up to go for the next three weeks in the mission and ministry field of Pakistan—technically, the nation named The Islamic Republic of Pakistan. I’m trying to “Keep it simple.” One suitcase. But most importantly, one Spirit—the Holy Spirit of the Living God. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead now lives in me and in every one of Your disciples (Romans 8:11). The same Spirit that anointed You to proclaim the coming of the Kingdom of God, to heal the brokenhearted and set the captives free, lives in me (Isaiah 61:1; Luke 4:18-19; Ephesians 5:18). As the Father sent You, so You send me and every one of Your disciples who prepare for the journey and go forth wherever You send us in the authority of Your name and power of Your Spirit (John 20:21; Acts 1:8). I hope it’s ok to take my suitcase. I hope that’s keeping it “simple” enough. But I know it’s ok to take Your Holy Spirit. Because apart from You and Your Spirit abiding in me, I can do nothing (John 15:5). And I praise You and thank You that I’m never apart from You, that You’re with me always (Matthew 28:20), that You will confirm Your word with the moving of Your Spirit through Your power and authority in the love of God revealed in Jesus Christ my Lord (Mark 16:20; Hebrews 2:4; Acts 14:3). You’ll equip me and anoint me for every encounter You’ll set before me (Ephesians 4:12; 2 Corinthians 1:21; 1 John 2:20). As one of Your “ambassadors for Christ” may I represent Your heart and be an expression of Your hope, Your love, Your power all along the way (2 Corinthians 5:20). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today. Morning by Morning, April 28, 2025 - “That They Also May Be One in Us” Good morning, Lord Jesus. Align my heart with Your heart, my mind with Your mind, my words with Your words, my actions with Your actions, as You make me more like You today (Romans 8:28). ... “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. “And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me” (John 17:20-23). In the depth of Your prayer before You were betrayed and arrested, we were on Your mind. You prayed with passion that we would be one with You and one with one another. You prayed for a depth of unity, for a communion of spirit, for an alignment of purpose and personhood, that can only be accomplished by Your Spirit abiding in our spirits and Your purposes fulfilled through our lives. You’re one with the Father, one with the Holy Spirit, and by the mystery of faith and mercy of God, You also desire to be one with every one of Your disciples of Christ and children of God. “That (we) also may be one in (You)”—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. We’ve not experienced that yet. At least not here in this earthly realm, where our journey of faith in You is a daily walk with all its daily challenges and persistent opposition. This is one of Your prayers yet to be answered. But we know every word of God is true and all will be fulfilled (Isaiah 55:11; Matthew 24:35). Including every prayer You prayed on this earth in the days of Your flesh. Including this one—this high and holy prayer that we would be “one.” Reveal and remove every barrier and blockage. Replace every hindrance to our wholeness with a oneness in You that only You can do. “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible (Mark 10:27). “If (we) can believe, all things are possible to him who believes” (Mark 9:23). Even this. By the power of Your grace working in us, by the power of Your Spirit moving through us, Lord make it so. Lord, make us one—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. “There is one body and one Spirit, just as (we) were called in one hope of (our) calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in (us) all” (Ephesians 4:4-6). So now, with this hope in our hearts, in ongoing, continuing fulfillment of Your prayer from Your heart, “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with (us) all” (2 Corinthians 13:14). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today.
