Morning by Morning, March 6, 2025 - Chosen One. Beloved One. Heart-Open One.   Good morning, Lord Jesus. What a Father, what a Savior, what a Friend You are (John 15:15). So I begin my day calling on Your name and listening for the leading of Your Spirit (John 10:27). ...   As I wait, this is what I hear in my heart:   “Chosen one. Beloved one. All who open their hearts to Me, I have chosen. All who would receive My love in their hearts by My grace, I have loved. I am willing to choose all because I love all. Pray that all would open their hearts to Me.” ...   Yes, Lord. I do pray that all would open their hearts to You. Your Written Word comes to mind to confirm what I believe I hear in my heart as Your spoken word to me in my intercession with You:   “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9).   “For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all...” (1 Timothy 2:3-6).   And of course, this Verse my praying Grandmother taught me to memorize before she taught me how to write my name on the chicken house wall out in the dusty fields of west Texas:   “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 KJV).   You’re not willing that any should perish. You are willing that all would believe, all would trust, all would come to a knowledge of the truth and turn to You and open their hearts to You and receive Your mercy and grace and love.   Just as You said to Your first disciples, You continue to speak to us as Your disciples today:   “Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!” (John 4:35) “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest” (Matthew 9:37-38).   Yes, Lord. I lift up my eyes to You. I lift up my prayers for the harvest and for the laborers You’re calling and sending out into Your harvest. Let none be left behind without a chance to hear and open their hearts to receive Your mercy and love that You desire for all.   “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.... For ‘whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.’   “How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written:   “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!”   (Romans 10:9-15)   By Your mercy and grace, I choose to believe I’m a chosen one, a beloved one, a heart open-one. I’m one who’s willing to pray for the harvest, to pray for the laborers of the harvest, to be one of Your laborers in Your harvest of hearts that will be saved and know the love of God through Jesus Christ. Here I am, Lord. Send me (Isaiah 6:8). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today. Morning by Morning, March 5, 2025 - God of Hope   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Your name is above every name; and I lift up Your name over every moment of my day (Philippians 2:9). ...   As I wait for the leading of Your Spirit, what I hear in my heart is “God of Hope.”   Just the word “Hope” lifts my spirit, lifts my eyes up to You. And two Scriptures come to mind immediately:   “I will lift up my eyes to the hills— From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth” (Psalm 121:1-2).   The same place “from whence comes my help” is the same place “from whence comes my (hope).” My help and my hope come from You—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. You are my Help; You are my Hope. And embracing Your help and Your hope, lift up my spirit as I lift up my eyes to You.   And the other Scripture You’re bringing to mind fills me with just as much hope and joy to start my day embracing Your Presence and Your Promises:   “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:13).   “In believing” You, “in believing” You’re with me, You’re for me, You’ll never leave me nor forsake me, You’ve already gone before me into every moment I’ll experience, every challenge I’ll face. You’re filling me “with all joy and peace.” You’re filling me with “the power of the Holy Spirit.” You’re preparing the way before me today to “abound in hope!”   So I do lift up my eyes to You; I open up my heart to You. I get ready now to arise and go out into my day with You--O God of Hope! Ready to “abound in hope” with You today! In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today. Morning by Morning, March 4, 2025 - “Fullness of Joy!”

 

Morning by Morning, March 4, 2025 - “Fullness of Joy!”   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Your joy is my strength (Nehemiah 8:10).   “You will show me the path of life; In Your Presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore” (Psalm 16:11).   This weekend was full of joy!   Saturday morning, the voices of 127 men filled the room with praises to God and then I had the blessing of sharing a message of the joy of passing on a Godly inheritance of faith through our relationship with Jesus. Then Saturday night, during worship, prophetic artist Jenna Tipton painted a masterpiece of the joy of Jesus knocking on the door of our hearts with a look of expectant joy on His face at our annual fundraiser for Messiah Ministries. Then finally Sunday night, our daughter Maddie’s face radiated with the joy of Jesus that filled her heart as she entrusted her heart in marriage to her beloved Trent. And my heart thrilled with joy to walk her down the aisle into this next joyful season of her life of love with the one her heart has found (Song of Solomon 3:4).   Thank You for the gift of joy. Thank You for the blessing of an attitude of joy, a perspective of joy, an unquenchable, insuppressible Spirit of Joy that we can always have in You, no matter what else may be going on in our lives, for “in Your Presence is fullness of Joy!” (Psalm 16:11)   “I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High!” (Psalm 9:2) When Your Spirit lives in our hearts and You are the Center of our lives, we can fully embrace this beautiful, powerful gift of Your grace— “joy unspeakable and full of glory!” (1 Peter 1:8) In Jesus’ name I pray. Morning by Morning, February 28, 2025 - An Inheritance Already Received and Also to Be Embraced Every Day, At the Same Time

 

Morning by Morning, February 28, 2025 - An Inheritance Already Received and Also to Be Embraced Every Day, At the Same Time   Good morning, Lord Jesus. You are my Focus, as I watch and wait for Your leading in my listening (John 10:27). ...   “Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you” (Joshua 1:3).   In Your Word and Your Command to Joshua in his leadership to lead the people of God into their inheritance, You said You “have given” them the land (v. 3). That’s past tense. It’s already done. It’s finished. It’s accomplished and settled with no room for debate or doubt.   And at the same time, You also said in Your Word and Your Command that they were to go into “the land which I am giving them” (v. 2). That’s not past tense. That’s not already done, finished, accomplished, settled with no room for debate or doubt. That’s a call to engage a process, a journey, an ongoing campaign until it is finally accomplished. Both are true at the same time.   You gave them their inheritance, but they also had to actively receive it, embrace it, fight for it. Even though it was theirs at the command of Your Word, there would still be enemy giants in the land to fight and powerful strongholds to overcome. The battles would belong to the Lord, but they would be the ones to fight the battles, in Your wisdom and Your power, but through their obedience. Real battles. Real fights. Real opportunities to win or to lose, to advance or to retreat.   You would give them the strategies for the battles, but it would be up to them to trust and obey. Sometimes they would not trust, would not obey; and they would lose the battle. But in repentance and faith, in the wisdom of learning from mistakes and in the shaping of their character and confidence in You, You would give them more opportunities to advance and receive the inheritance You’d already given to them.   So receiving their inheritance was not passive, even though it was already decreed to be theirs. Receiving their inheritance was active, requiring faith and obedience every step of the way, even though You had already given them every place the soles of their feet would tread (v. 3).   Lord, show me my inheritance. Lead me by Your grace, empower me by Your grace, to fight the battles before me, to take the land of my inheritance You’ve set before me. In one sense, it’s already done, finished, and accomplished. And at the same time, my choices are real, my decisions have consequences, my heart attitude and spiritual perspective makes a difference.   So I desperately need You in every moment, through every battle. Help me learn to get it right; and even help me learn when I get it wrong. Right or wrong, You’ll use it all to teach me and train me, to equip me and empower me, on my spiritual journey through the battles of my world to make me more like You each day (Romans 8:29: 1 John 3:2 and 4:17; 2 Corinthians 3:18; 1 Thessalonians 5:23). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today.
