Morning by Morning, June 7 - Holy Fire Burning in Those Baptized with the Holy Spirit   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Lord of all, lead me into all You have for me today. ...   “In those days John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness of Judea, proclaiming, ‘Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.’ This is the one of whom the prophet Isaiah spoke when he said,   ‘The voice of one crying out in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord;     make His paths straight.’” ...   (He declared,) “I baptize you with water for repentance, but the One who is coming after me is more powerful than I, and I am not worthy to carry His sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and Fire. His winnowing fork is in His hand, and He will clear His threshing floor and will gather His wheat into the granary, but the chaff He will burn with unquenchable Fire’” (Matthew 3:1-12).   Thank You, Lord, for the baptism of “water for repentance.” We cannot enter the kingdom of heaven without repentance; it’s when we “repent” that the “kingdom of heaven has come near” (v. 2). That’s our salvation, when we repent and turn to You, when we “confess with (our) mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in (our) heart that God raised Him from the dead, (we) will be saved” (Romans 10:9).   But there is more. When we repent and turn to You, we’ll go to heaven when we die, but You also want heaven in us now. You desire to have a people on this earth who are called by Your name, but also display Your nature in their hearts and move in the power of Your Spirit in their lives. You desire that we not only be baptized “with water for repentance,” but that we also be baptized “with the Holy Spirit and Fire” (Matthew 3:11).   This is the Promise of the Father, what our Father has promised to all who wait upon the Lord until we “have been clothed with power from on high” (Luke 24:49). What You desired for Your first disciples just before You ascended to heaven after Your resurrection, You continue to desire for every disciple, as recorded in the first words of the Book of Acts at the beginning of Your Church in the earth:   “In the first book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and teach until the day when He was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom He had chosen. After His suffering He presented Himself alive to them by many convincing proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God. While staying with them, He ordered them not to leave Jerusalem but to wait there for the Promise of the Father. ‘This,’ He said, ‘is what you have heard from Me; for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.’”   “So when they had come together, they asked Him, ‘Lord, is this the time when You will restore the kingdom to Israel?’ He replied, ‘It is not for you to know the times or periods that the Father has set by His own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.’ When He had said this, as they were watching, He was lifted up, and a cloud took Him out of their sight. While He was going and they were gazing up toward heaven, suddenly two men in white robes stood by them. They said, ‘Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking up toward heaven? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw Him go into heaven’” (Acts 1:1-11).   Lord, send Your Fire! Send the Fire that baptizes us with Your Holy Spirit. Send the Fire that fulfills the Promise of our Father for all Your sons and daughters. Your Fire fell on the day of Pentecost for the beginning of Your Church (Acts 2:1). And Your Fire stills falls on all who wait upon You to “be clothed with power from on high,” to “receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon (us)” (Luke 24:49; Acts 1:8).   As the Apostle Peter declared on the Day of Pentecost: “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ so that your sins may be forgiven, and you will receive the Gift of the Holy Spirit. For the Promise is for you, for your children, and for all who are far away, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to Him” (Acts 2:38-29).   That same Holy Fire that empowers us is the same Holy Fire that sanctifies us -- that burns out of us everything in us that is not yet like Jesus. “For this is the will of God, (our) sanctification” (1 Thessalonians 4:3). That “the God of peace Himself sanctify (us) entirely, and (that our) spirit and soul and body be kept sound and blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Thessalonians 5:23).   We can’t do that ourselves; You have to do that in us, by Your Holy Fire burning within us, both empowering us and sanctifying us, to be like You as Your witnesses in our world. “The One who calls (us) is faithful, and He will do this” (1 Thessalonians 5:24).   Do this in me, Lord. Today and every day. Baptize me afresh with Your Holy Spirit. Consume me with Your Holy Fire. “For indeed our God is a Consuming Fire” (Hebrews 12:29). Come set me ablaze this day and every day to be one of Your burning ones, empowered with the authority of Your Spirit and sanctified with the character of Your nature. Let me continually “be filled with the Spirit” (Ephesians 5:18).   Let me be one of those who fulfill Your Word in the last days: “Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky, and those who lead the many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever” (Daniel 12:3). Shine through me, with Your Holy Fire burning in me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today! Revival Tonight and Revival Right Now! - June 3, 2022

Morning by Morning, June 3 - Revival Tonight and Revival Right Now!   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Fill me afresh and overflowing with Your Holy Spirit today (Ephesians 5:18). Like every one of Your disciples, let Your Light shine and let Your Love flow everywhere I go, to everyone I meet, and with every word I speak, everything I do, and everything I am (Matthew 5:14). ...   Tonight I’ll be preaching a revival just down the road from our home in Fredericksburg, Texas -- Revival at the Barn behind Yee Haw Ranch. I just looked it up and it’s literally 1.4 miles from my front door to the barn door. I just realized the prophetic significance -- how blessed we are to “live in revival!” And I’m up extra early this morning, seeking Your heart for every soul who will come and every life You’ll change.   Lord, let me see every one of them with the eyes of heaven and with the Father heart of God. Let them see You and not me; hear Your words and not mine. Your Presence is what matters. And I know in my heart as I pray for this day of revival that You will be present to save, present to heal, present to deliver, present to pour out Your love and Your power to all who are weary and thirsty and hungry for more of You -- whether they know it or not.   Some will have come to Fredericksburg this weekend to pick our famous peaches, but they are about to “taste and see that the Lord is Good” (Psalm 34:8). And as my pastor would add, “All the Time!” Some will have come to experience our famous vineyards and wineries, but they are about to be filled up with “new wine” and leave their “old wineskins” behind forever (Matthew 9:17). Some will have come to spend some time in our famous German breweries, but they are about to drink deeply of the only “Spirit” who can truly satisfy their every longing and fill the emptiness of their soul (Romans 8:9).   Some will come empty -- empty because they cried out their last tears over the Uvalde school shooting, just a little under a hundred miles from here; empty because they’ve nearly spent their last dollar from their ever-dwindling bank account amidst the ever-increasing inflation; empty because they’ve nearly spent their last measure of hope and faith in the goodness of God or the trustworthiness of government, desperately needing a breakthrough and half-afraid it’s never going to come or just pass them by altogether. But they are about to “be filled with the Holy Spirit” (Ephesians 5:18) and set ablaze with the Holy Fire of the Living God in their own personal Pentecost just in time for Pentecost Sunday at the end of this weekend! (Acts 1:5)   I’m up early because I can’t sleep. I’m pressing in in prayer because I can’t wait. I’m so full of expectant faith I’m about to burst! There’s revival tonight and my spirit is in revival right now!   Lord, send Your breakthrough revival angels! Lord, send Your breakthrough revival anointing! Lord, send Your breakthrough word to heal and deliver and save! (Psalm 107:20)   We wait for You (Isaiah 40:31). And at the same time, You are already here, waiting for us (Luke 17:21).   “O that You would tear open the heavens and come down,     so that the mountains would quake at Your presence-- as when fire kindles brushwood     and the fire causes water to boil-- to make Your name known to Your adversaries,     so that the nations might tremble at Your Presence! When You did awesome deeds that we did not expect,     You came down; the mountains quaked at Your Presence. From ages past no one has heard,     no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides You,     who works for those who wait for Him!” (Isaiah 64:1-4)   I can’t wait! Fill us up with Your Oil and set us ablaze with Your Fire! As the Jason Upton worship song declares, “Let the Fire fall, let the Wind blow, let the Glory come down!”   “The Spirit and the Bride say, ‘Come!’ ... Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!” (Revelation 22:17-20) In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.    Be encouraged today! We Are the Revival -- for the Revivalist Lives in Us! - June 2, 2022

 

Morning by Morning, June 2 - We Are the Revival -- for the Revivalist Lives in Us!   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Revive me with Your Spirit and clothe me with Your Presence, as I begin my day looking to You and seeking to follow Your leading. As Your Word promises, “As many of you as were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ” (Galatians 3:27). ...   A few days ago, Dutch Sheets shared a dream about Evan Roberts and the Welsh Revival that began at Moriah Chapel. The Holy Spirit began stirring up my heart for revival again in a fresh way, reminding me of our ministry trip through Wales twelve years ago with Heather Butler of Wales, where I was so unbelievably thrilled to sleep in Evan Roberts’ bedroom, where he encountered Jesus before the revival, and then get to preach a revival meeting in Moriah Chapel, where the Welsh Revival was birthed. I’ve been sharing my devotionals from those days, and feel led to share this last one from the morning after our Moriah Chapel Revival Meeting twelve years ago:   Morning by Morning, October 28, 2010 - We Are The Revival!   Good morning, Lord Jesus. You’re amazing. You’re awesome. You’re my All in All! …   “To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27).   There’s a sign outside the door of this home down in the Gower of south Wales that says “Home of Evan Roberts, the Revivalist.”   He was born here, lived here, prayed here. And he walked from here down the lane to Moriah Chapel, where You chose to release the Welsh Revival out of the passion of his heart and the fervency of his prayers.   And last night You filled Moriah Chapel again with hearts hungry for a fresh move of God in our lives and in this land. We worshiped and prayed; we testified of Your goodness and proclaimed Your glory; we laughed and cried and encountered the Presence of God deep in our hearts!   One young girl even came up to testify You were healing her blind eyes right before our eyes! And after midnight, in the early morning of a new day, when we finally prayed for the last person, with a father in the faith, still hungering and thirsting for the power of Your love to be poured into his heart by Your Spirit, we thanked You for allowing us the honor to serve You with our lives.   But when all was said and done, the riches of the glory of this mystery became more clear to me than ever before--it’s Christ in us; Christ in each one of us, the hope of Your glory (Colossians 1:27).   We are the revivalists. We are the revival. We are the move of God in the earth. Christ in us, awakening us, reviving us, pouring God’s love and power into us and pouring out God’s love and power through us. Wherever we are, wherever we go, Christ has come because Christ is in us; the Kingdom has come because the Kingdom is in us (Luke 17:21).   The Kingdom of God is at hand every time we reach out our hands, because our hands are now Your hands. The Father’s blessing is released every time we embrace it and give it away, because we are blessed by God to be the blessing of God. We are the revival!   You share Your glory with no man. And yet, in this marvelous mystery of faith, grounded in the truth of Your Word that Christ is in us, You choose to display Your glory through Your people (Isaiah 60:1).   When we are in You and You are in us, You make us to be Your “oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, to display (Your) glory!” (Isaiah 61:3). Christ in us--this is “the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27).   This is Your revival, Your world-wide, world-changing revival we’ve longed to see throughout the generations of time. And we are Your revivalists!   Let it never die, never be quenched, never burn out until You come again in the fullness of Your glory to receive Your glorious Bride (Revelation 19:7). In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.   Be encouraged today! Every stop along the way has been amazing, but truly last night at Moriah Chapel will be a memory to cherish forever, and yet just a foundation of more to come as God continues to pour out His Spirit on the earth in our generation. As Heather Butler, Andrea Clemons, our team, and I ministered last night with the young worship team, among people from many different churches and traditions together as one in Christ, we experienced and encountered the living God in tremendous ways. The consistent prayer of every person, young and old, as we prayed until after midnight, was to be filled afresh with God's Holy Spirit and boldness to be the Body of Christ, fully alive! Let it be so in your heart and mine and throughout the earth! We go back to Heather and Bob's home in north Wales for a day before going to our last ministry engagement in Birmingham, England to lead a prayer conference at an Anglican Church there and return home. We couldn't do any of this without you and all your prayers, encouragement, and support. God bless you! Messiah Ministries -- "Preparing the Way of the Lord ... You are moving through us, loving through us, reaching out to a hurting, broken, lost, and fallen world through us, as we abide in You and You abide in us (John 15:4).
