Morning by Morning, November 5, 2024 - “As for Me and My House, We Will Serve the Lord” on This Election Day in America Good morning, Lord Jesus. I look to You and listen for Your leading, as I begin my day embraced by my Father, centered in Christ, and filled with Your Holy Spirit (John 10:27). ... As we enter into Election Day in America this morning, this ancient Scripture--with Words, spiritual principles and current applications that are forever true--comes to mind: “Now therefore, fear the Lord, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord! And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:14-15). Yes, Lord. By the power of Your grace and the leading of Your Spirit, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” With our voices, with our votes, with our attitudes and our actions, we will serve the Lord. By the power of Your grace, we will not serve the so-called “gods” of this world that seek to hover over our land as principalities and powers that resist the truth and the will of the One True God who is Lord of all. But we welcome Your Holy Spirit to come like “a rushing mighty Wind” across our nation and throughout the earth! (Acts 2:1) Push back the darkness and open up Your heavens over our land for a shifting and a turning into a new day of righteousness in our land. “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people” (Proverbs 14:34). “Oh, that You would rend the heavens! That You would come down! That the mountains might shake at Your Presence— As fire burns brushwood, As fire causes water to boil— To make Your name known to Your adversaries, That the nations may tremble at Your presence! When You did awesome things for which we did not look, You came down, The mountains shook at Your presence. For since the beginning of the world Men have not heard nor perceived by the ear, Nor has the eye seen any God besides You, Who acts for the one who waits for Him. You meet him who rejoices and does righteousness, Who remembers You in Your ways. You are indeed angry, for we have sinned— In these ways we continue; And we need to be saved!” (Isaiah 64:1-5) Yes, Lord! “We need to be saved!” And only You are our Savior! “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved!” (Acts 4:12) So give us grace to do our part, as Your Holy Spirit moves in our hearts and in the heart of our nation to turn to You, to call upon Your name, to speak up and get up and go vote according to Your principles of righteousness and truth, grounded in Your Word and filled with Your Spirit! “Restore us, O God; cause Your face to shine, and we shall be saved!” (Psalm 80:3) “He who endures to the end shall be saved!” (Matthew 24:13) “And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved!” (Acts 2:21) Save our nation, O God! Make America Godly Again! We must all make our own decisions and cast our own votes as our conscience determines and hopefully as Your Spirit leads, “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!” (Joshua 24:15) In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
