Morning by Morning, January 31, 2025 - “Lord, Save Us!” through the Sudden Storms   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Fill my mind with Your thoughts and my heart with Your desires, as I turn my eyes upon You to begin my day grounded in the Word of God and filled with the Spirit of God. ...    “Now when (Jesus) got into a boat, His disciples followed Him. And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But He was asleep. Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, ‘Lord, save us! We are perishing!’   “But He said to them, ‘Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?”’ Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. So the men marveled, saying, ‘Who can this be, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?’” (Matthew 8:23-27).   That sudden storm must have felt overwhelming. And when Your disciples saw You sleeping, they must have felt like You didn’t see, or You didn’t care, or You didn’t know what to do. But they cried out to You anyway--“Lord, save us!”   Then, before You rebuked the storm, You first rebuked their lack of faith. They were thinking this sudden storm was mightier than the Son of God. But it was not. And soon, all was restored to “a great calm.”   The greatest “calm” must have been the calm in their hearts, the calm of Your peace, the calm of knowing even the winds and the sea of every sudden storm must submit to You and obey Your command. The truth is You were with them in the storm, even when they wondered, even when it didn’t feel like it, even when the winds and the waves were very real and really were overwhelming them in the moment. But You brought them through it. You always do; You always with.   Lord Jesus, You know every sudden storm we’re facing today. Fill us with faith to trust in You, to trust that You see and You care and You know what to do. And as we cry out, “Lord, save us!”, You hear and You answer and You move on our behalf. Give us grace to trust in that, grace to trust in You through every tempest and sudden storm we’ll ever face. For You are the God who says and who shows, “I AM with you always” (Matthew 28:20). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today. Morning by Morning, January 30, 2025 - God Still Speaks Order Out of Chaos   Good morning, Lord Jesus. I take a pause in Your Presence to begin my day embraced by my Father, centered in Christ, and filled with Your Spirit. ...   “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.   “Then God said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light” (Genesis 1:1-3).   You speak order out of chaos. You speak light into darkness. Your Spirit hovers over what needs order and light, over what’s void and empty, needing to be filled with Your Word and Your Spirit. “For God is not a God of disorder, but of peace” (1 Corinthians 14:33 NLT).   You did it “In the beginning.” And You still do. Come do it in me and my world today.   Lord God--my Creator, my Lord and Savior, my Father and Forever Friend, King of Kings and Lord of Lords, My “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace”--"Of the increase of (Your) government and peace there will be no end ... to order it and establish it with judgment and justice” (Isaiah 9:6-7). You are the “Word” of God, from “the beginning” and forevermore (John 1:1-5). Word of God, speak into my life now and forevermore, I pray.   Come order and establish my life today. Speak into me and my world Your order and light, as “the Spirit of God” hovers over me and all that’s going on around me and within me. Bring order out of chaos. Let there be no void or empty places in me, but filled with Your Word and Your Spirit. Just Your Word invites me and every one of us to “Be filled with the Spirit” (Ephesians 5:18). So let it be. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today. Morning by Morning, January 29, 2025 - As We Sit Before the Lord, He Sets His Plans Before Us   Good morning, Lord Jesus. I lift up my eyes to You, where my strength, hope, wisdom and all help comes from--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God (Psalm 121:1). ...   “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans” (Proverbs 16:3).   As we commit our plans, You establish Your plans. Let my plans be yielded to Your plans. Let my first plan be to plan to first spend time lifting my eyes to You, opening my heart to You, watching and waiting before You. As I commit myself to You, committing my will to Your will, my thoughts to Your thoughts, my desires to Your desires, You are setting Your plans before me. Then You are opening Your doors, granting the gift of Your favor, releasing the blessings of Your grace, in all You set before me if I will first commit to sit before You.   If we will sit before You, You will set Your plans before us.   “A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps” (Proverbs 16:9).   Line up my plans with Your steps. Line up my path with Your will, my walk with Your ways. I ask for the faith to trust You and Your wisdom, providing all the guidance and help I’ll need. Free me from the way of life of leaning on my own understanding so that I can acknowledge You, seek You, trust in You with all my heart in all my ways, so that You can direct my paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6), so that I can live into the fullness of Your plans for me each day--Your “plans to prosper (me) and not to harm (me), plans to give (me) hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11).   Father, establish those plans in me as I commit myself and my plans to You. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today. Morning by Morning, January 28, 2025 - “No Weapon Formed Against You Shall Prosper”   Good morning, Lord Jesus. I declare Your name over every name of anything I’ll face today, for Your name stands above them all (Philippians 2:10). ...   “‘No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me,’ says the Lord” (Isaiah 54:17).   May I be Your servant. May I embrace my heritage. May I live into Your righteousness. All by the power of Your grace at work within me. “For it is God who works in (me) both to will and to do for His good pleasure” (Philippians 2:13).   Then the weapons formed against me will fail. Then the tongues of judgment against me will be condemned.   So line up my thoughts with Your thoughts, my desires with Your desires, my words with Your words, my ways with Your ways, my attitudes with Your attitude, my perspective with Your perspective. Let this be “a wall of fire all around (me)” and “(Your) glory in (my) midst” (Zechariah 2:5).   For “You, O Lord, as a Shield about me, my Glory, and the Lifter of my head!” (Psalm 3:3) “I will not be afraid.... Arise, O Lord! Save me, O my God! For You strike (down) all my enemies.... Salvation belongs to the Lord; Your blessings be on your people!” (Psalm 3:6-8). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today.
