Morning by Morning, June 9, 2025 - Days of Rest Good morning, Lord Jesus. I welcome You into my heart and every moment of my day. ... As Rocio and I get ready to leave for a several days away for some personal vacation time, the word “Rest” comes to mind. ... “And (the Lord) said (to Moses), ‘My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest” (Exodus 33:14). Thank You for Your Presence, Lord. Thank You for Your rest. I’m so thankful for all the ways You allow me to be an “ambassador” of Your Kingdom (2 Corinthians 5:20), a “disciple” of Jesus Christ (John 15:8), a beloved “child of God” (1 John 3:2). I’m so thrilled for every door of opportunity of ministry You open and provide all the grace that’s needed to fulfill every mission (Isaiah 22:22). And, at the same time, I’m so humbled by You to admit my need to get away for some extended time of rest. So as best as I can and all by Your grace, I’m entrusting my burdens and cares to You. And I know Your Presence will go with me, along every step of my path and in every moment of my rest. I pray You’d multiply the moments of my holy “naps” and divine “meditations” without too much regard for times and places and people for a few days away. May we be refreshed and renewed for our return. And when we do return, help us to keep entrusting all the times and places and people to You, without slipping back into any old patterns of taking it all right back upon ourselves. In the mystery of faith and mercy of grace, I commit all this into Your Hands—Your nail-scarred Hands where You already bore all these burdens so that we don’t have to, as we entrust them all to You. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today. Morning by Morning, June 6, 2025 - See with the Eyes of Heaven and Hear the Heart of Heaven Good morning, Lord Jesus. I speak out Your name and listen for Your voice to begin my day embraced by my Father, centered in Christ, and filled with Your Holy Spirit, for Your Word says Your sheep hear Your voice and follow You (John 10:27). Your Word says the children of God are led by the Spirit of God (Romans 8:14). ... “Like the appearance of a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the brightness all around it. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. So when I saw it, I fell on my face, and I heard a voice of One speaking” (Ezekiel 1:28). Like the Apostle Paul prayed for the Christians at Ephesus, according to Your will and Your Word for all of us, You opened the eyes of Ezekiel’s heart to see with the eyes of heaven; You opened the ears of his spirit to hear the heart of heaven (Ephesians 1:18). By Your Spirit, You brought Divine understanding and Spiritual enlightenment for Ezekiel to “know what is the hope of (Your) calling for him,” as You do for each of us (v. 18). In the experience of his encounter in Your Presence, Ezekiel tried to describe it with human words of heavenly visions—living creatures and spinning wheels in gleaming amber, shining crystal, and radiant fire. But the limitations of language keep us from fully grasping all he was experiencing. His response to Your revelation was to fall on his face, embraced in glory of Your manifest Presence. And it was there—there with his heart humbled before You and there in the heavenly realm of the glory of God that he could hear Your voice and respond to Your word. You said to him, “Son of man, stand on your feet, and I will speak to you.” (Ezekiel 2:1). And when his body and spirit came to attention to listen and respond to Your voice, he declared, “the Spirit entered me when He spoke to me, and set me on my feet; and I heard Him who spoke to me (2). As he waited and listened, You spoke and led. You gave Ezekiel instruction, encouragement, and guidance for the days ahead, for Your mission before him, and Your calling upon him (v. 3-5). You even prepared him for what might seem like the failure of coming rejection from an earthly perspective, but would be accounted to him as righteousness, obedience, and faith from Your heavenly perspective (6-7). And You assured him that regardless of how others responded to him and the words of spirit and life You would speak through him, “they (would) know that a prophet has been among them”—they would know they had been in the presence of one who had been in the Presence of God (v. 5). Thank You for giving us each the invitation and the gift of coming into Your Presence every day. As children of God, Your Spirit, Your Holy Spirit, has entered us (Romans 8:9). And now we’re invited to come boldly to Your throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16). When we draw near to You, You draw near to us (James 4:8). When we seek You will all our hearts, we find You (Jeremiah 29:13). By the Word of God, we are Your sheep; You know our names; and we can hear Your voice (John 10:3). We are sons and daughters of God, filled and led by the Spirit of God (Romans 8:14). Like Ezekiel, as we bow down to fall on our faces in humility of heart before You, You lift us up to stand in awe of You, firm on our feet as You stand firm within us (James 4:10; 1 Peter 5:6). We may not necessarily see with open visions into the heavenly realm of living creatures and spinning wheels in gleaming amber, shining crystal, and radiant fire, but we can look with the eyes of our hearts and reach out in the yearning of our spirits to encounter the living God every day (Ephesians 1:17-19). We can abide in You as You abide in us (John 15:4). According to the hope and promise of Your Word, through “Christ Jesus our Lord” ... “we have boldness and with confidence through faith in Him” (Ephesians 3:11-12). In the mystery of faith and the power of Your grace, we can “know the love of Christ” and even “be filled with all the fullness of God” (Ephesians 3:19). As God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit, You come as One to come live and abide within us (John 14:20 and 17:21). For “He who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him” (1 Corinthians 6:17). When we pursue You in both humility and faith, You remove every barrier between us and purify our hearts through the blood of Christ (Colossians 1:20; 1 John 1:9). Nothing can separate us from Your love and Your Presence (Romans 8:38-39). And You continue to promise the Blessing of Your Presence for all who seek You. “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.... Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God” (Matthew 5:6-8). We are blessed as Your children, as Your sheep, as Your servants, as Your disciples, as Your friends, as Your ambassadors, as Your Body and Bride of Christ, to pursue Your Presence, to hear Your voice, and to follow You every day on our adventure of faith in You (John 10:27). Let us never “neglect so great a salvation” with all Your blessings of abiding in Your Presence and being led by Your Spirit (Hebrews 2:3). Let us never forsake our incomparable inheritance in You. “Joy inexpressible and full of glory!” (1 Peter 1:8) Now, “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with (us) all!” (2 Corinthians 13:14) In Jesus’ name I pray. Morning by Morning, June 5, 2025 - “Abide in Me”

 

Morning by Morning, June 5, 2025 - “Abide in Me” Good morning, Lord Jesus. Put Your thoughts in my mind, Your desires in my heart, Your words in my mouth, as I begin my day abiding in You. ... “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me” (John 15:4). In a practical way, what is it to “abide in (You),” Lord Jesus? ... As I watch and wait, what I hear in my heart is this: “To abide in Me is to seek Me and find Me as the Source of all you are and all you need.” ... Yes, Lord. You are “the True Vine” and I am one of Your “branches” (v. 1). As I seek to “abide in (You),” to seek You, to find You, to embrace You as my Source of all I am and all I need, my life will “bear much fruit” as one of “(Your) disciples” (v. 8). As You said, “He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing” (v. 5). I do thank You that I never have to be “without (You). You’re with me every moment of every day. You’re with me “always” (Matthew 28:20). You “never leave (me) nor forsake (me)” (Hebrews 13:5). By the intimate, indwelling Presence of Your Spirit —“the Spirit of God,” “the Spirit of Christ”— here in my heart, You are in me and I am in You (Romans 8:9). “Christ in (me), the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). You are my “Secret Place” and the “Shadow of the Almighty” where I abide in the communion of my deeply personal, intricately intimate relationship with You, where I embrace the Promise of Your Word: “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty” (Psalm 91:1). “He shall abide before God forever” (Psalm 61:7). By Your Spirit, “(You) abide with (me) forever” (John 14:16). To “abide” in You is to fully embrace, Your mercy and grace and the fullness of Your love. So by the power of Your grace, by the mercy and goodness of God, I choose this day to accept Your invitation and to obey Your command, “Abide in My love” (John 15:9). “And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love” (1 Corinthians 13:13). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen Be encouraged today. Morning by Morning, June 4, 2025 - Look Up! to the One Who is High and Lifted Up Good morning, Lord Jesus. As I begin my day embraced by my Father, centered in Christ, and filled with Your Holy Spirit, be high and lifted up in my heart and throughout the moments of my day (John 12:32). ... All that happened in the Old Testament in the experiences of the children of Israel were examples for us to learn spiritual principles and applications of the Kingdom of God in our lives: “These things happened to them to serve as an example, and they were written down to instruct us, on whom the ends of the ages have come” (1 Corinthians 10:11). And all the Scriptures, all the Law, all the Prophets, are spiritually pointing to You and ultimately fulfilled in You: “Beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, (Jesus) interpreted to them the things about Himself in all the Scriptures” (Luke 24:27). As You said, “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have come not to abolish but to fulfill” (Matthew 5:17). As I begin my prayer today speaking of lifting You up in my heart and my life, Your Holy Spirit is reminding of the scene from the Old Testament in the journey through the wilderness of the children of Israel when many were suffering and even died through the attacks of poisonous serpents (Numbers 21:4-9). They had complained “against God and against Moses,” becoming “discouraged on the way,” doubting the goodness of God and the leadership of Moses. Their sin of grumbling and complaining, fueled by an attitude of ingratitude, forgetting and minimizing their salvation and deliverance from the bondage of their past, opened the door to the judgment of God and consequences of their actions (v. 4-6). But despite their sins and hardened hearts, You reached out in Your mercy and love to deliver them from their distress and heal them from their afflictions, when they repented and turned back to You (v. 7). You told Moses to make “a serpent of bronze and put it on a pole, and whenever the serpent bit someone, that person would look (up) at the serpent of bronze and live” (v. 9). There was nothing magic about the “serpent of bronze.” It was simply a means of Your grace, an example in their journey that points us to the You in our journey. When You are “lifted up from the earth, (You) draw all people to (Yourself)—when You were “lifted up” on the Cross and when You are lifted up in our hearts today (John 12:32). When we “lift up (our) eyes to the hills”—when we lift up our eyes to the One who died on the Cross on the hill of Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins, the healing of our wounds, the deliverance from our bondage—we remember “(our) help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth” (Psalm 121:1-2; Isaiah 53:4-5, fulfilled in Matthew 8:17). As David cried out in a day of his trouble and affliction: “Lord, how they have increased who trouble me! Many are they who rise up against me. Many are they who say of me, ‘There is no help for him in God.’ Selah But You, O Lord, are a Shield for me, My Glory and the One who lifts up my head. I cried to the Lord with my voice, And He heard me from His holy hill! Selah” (Psalm 3:1-4) Thank You for reminding me to keep looking up to You—My Savior, My Healer, My Deliverer, the One who grants me Your “mercy to find grace to help in (my) time of need” (Hebrews 4:16). Today and everyday, I am looking up, for my redemption, my Redeemer, is drawing near! (Luke 21:28). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today.
