Morning by Morning, January 30, 2026 — Both Known by God and Knowing God Good morning, Lord Jesus. Calling out to You, spirit to Spirit, heart to Heart, deep to Deep, I look to You, call out Your name, and listen for Your leading to intentionally begin my day with You in the awareness of Your Presence. ... “My Sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me” (John 10:27). You know me. And I know You. Part of knowing is listening, hearing, following. We get to know someone by spending time with them, being attentive to them, seeking to understand them. The same is true in our relationship. You know all about me. You formed me in my mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13). “You have searched me and known me” and “are acquainted with all my ways” (v. 1, 3). And there’s so much more than I can fully grasp in the eternity and enormity of Your Presence. You stir in me and draw me to know all about You. Not only to know about You, but to know You. You promise me that if I draw near to You, You will draw near to me (James 4:8). You promise me that If I seek You with all my heart, I will find You (Jeremiah 29:13). And You promise me that if I join myself to You, You join Yourself with me, that I may even become “one spirit with (You)” in the unity and intimacy of a depth of personal relationship I can only begin to imagine (1 Corinthians 6:17). “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it. Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your Presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me” (Psalm 139:6-10). I thank You for how much I’ve been graced to know You, Lord. Help me know You more. As You said of this pursuit of knowing God in Your high and priestly prayer of John 17: “And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent” (John 17:3). By the power of Your grace moving in my heart to pursue You and to know You, I embrace this spiritual journey with the goal “that all things are worth nothing compared with the greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.... This allows me to have Christ” (Philippians 3:8 NCV). In each and every dimension of Your Being, One God, revealed in Three Persons—God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit—give me a hunger and thirst to know You more in my daily, deliberate, intentional, focused, and passionate spiritual pursuit of You, my Lord, my God. As I come to the close of this set-apart time with You, to get up from my prayer chair to go out into my day, some words from an old worship by Graham Kendrick are flooding into my heart: Now my heart's desire is to know You more, To be found in You and known as Yours, To possess by faith what I could not earn All surpassing gift of righteousness.   Knowing You, Jesus, knowing You There is no greater thing You're my all, You're the best You're my joy, my righteousness, And I love You Lord. Morning by Morning, January 28, 2026 — “God is Spirit” and God is Here, Abiding in Our Spirits, as We Worship Him and Welcome Him   Good morning, Lord Jesus. You’re with me “always”—right here, right now, and in every moment of my day (Matthew 28:20). ... “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth” (John 4:24). In spirit and truth, I worship You—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. Like the wind that blows and the breath I breathe, I can’t see You, but I seek the effects of Your Presence. Like the branches that bend in a breeze or seeing my breath on a cold day, You make Your Presence known as You change the atmosphere around us. So I begin my day acknowledging You, worshipping You, affirming and embracing You—my human spirit seeking Your Holy Spirit, my human heart open to Your Spiritual Heart. “Deep calls unto Deep” (Psalm 42:7). You are Spirit and You are here. So, my spirit calls unto Your Spirit, as I worship and welcome You here in my heart, here in all I do, here in all I am. “The Spirit of God dwells in (me)” and in all who open their spirits to You, to “the Spirit of Christ” abiding in us (Romans 8:9). So, I believe and embrace the Promise of Your Word, “He who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him” (1 Corinthians 6:17). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today! Morning by Morning, January 27, 2026 — “Behold and Be Held”

 

Morning by Morning, January 27, 2026 — “Behold and Be Held” Good morning, Lord Jesus. Steady my spirit, I as I look to You and seek to follow You—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. ... As I wait for Your leading these words come to my mind: “Behold and be held.” ... Then this Scripture:                                     “One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord, And to inquire in His temple” (Psalm 27:4). To “behold” You is to seek You, to look to You, to worship and adore You, to wait and listen for You, to trust You and entrust myself to You. And as I “behold” You, You are holding me. You are protecting me, guiding me, leading me. You are going before me in ways I don’t see, moving on behalf of me in ways I don’t know. You are even changing me from the inside out in ways that I could never do and in ways only You can do, as I’m beholding You, according to Your Word: “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord” (2 Corinthians 3:18). So I receive Your invitation to behold You now. Here in these first moments of my morning. And also throughout the moments of my day. Even as I arise now from my prayer chair and go out into my day, may my spirit never stopping pursuing You and may my heart never turn away from You. As I behold You, I’m being held by You. As I behold You, I’m becoming more like You, “from glory to glory” and step by step on my daily journey to spiritual maturity in You. “Behold, God is my Helper” (Psalm 54:4). “Behold, God is my Salvation, I will trust and not be afraid” (Isaiah 12:2). “So our eyes look to the Lord our God, until His mercy is on us” (Psalm 123:2). Morning by Morning, January 26, 2026 — Both the Beauty and the Burden of the “Snow from Heaven”

 

Morning by Morning, January 26, 2026 — Both the Beauty and the Burden of the “Snow from Heaven” Good morning, Lord Jesus. I watch and wait for Your leading to begin my day grounded in Your Word and filled with Your Spirit. ... “For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater, So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:10-11). As I wake up this morning, much of our nation is still covered in snow and ice. Some see the beauty, while others suffer under the burden. At its Source, the rain and the snow come down from You as part of Your creation to provide needed resources in their time and for their purposes on our behalf. But in our broken and fallen world, ever in desperate need of Your redemption, even the beauty of Your creation can be turned against us as creation itself groans under the burden of fallen nature and fallen mankind. “For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now” (Romans 8:22). “For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God” until “creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption” (v. 19-21). “But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance” (v. 25). The wind and the waters of the sea had purposes in their creation, yet there was a time when You rebuked them to halt their destruction and restore Your peace (Mark 4:39). And as with Your first disciples, You call us to arise in faith to trust in You through the suffering and struggles when creation itself burdens our lives (v. 40). So as I join with my neighbors in praying through this time of struggle in our nation, give us that right heart and right perspective to both see Your beauty in Your creation, even as we trust in You and overcome the burdens, for ourselves and our neighbors. And through it all, let both the beauty and the burdens point us back to the One who is the Source of every good thing in our lives and to the One who is always sending forth Your word for our good, like the rain that comes down with snow from heaven.
