Morning by Morning, October 14, 2026 — “Respond Well”

Morning by Morning, October 14, 2026 — “Respond Well” Good morning, Lord Jesus. Put Your thoughts in my mind, Your desires in my heart, Your words in my mouth, as I seek You and seek to follow You today. … As I wait for the leading of Your Spirit, I hear in my heart: “Respond well. Learn to respond well, for your responses shape your soul and develop your character.” … Yes, Lord. And this Scripture comes to mind from Your written Word of what I believe I’m hearing as Your spoken word to my heart: “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us” (Romans 5:1-5). By the power of Your grace at work within me, help me learn to respond well. Whatever “tribulation” I go through, whatever challenges I face, whatever decisions I make, teach me and empower me to respond from a heart that belongs to You, from a mind that’s being transformed and renewed by You, from a spirit that’s filled with Your Spirit living in me, abiding in me, and leading me. “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God” (Romans 8:14). Help me learn “perseverance.” Help me learn how to press through and overcome, without giving up, shutting down, or running away. Help me learn how to respond in love, without reacting with hate, being consumed with anger, or retaliating with vengeance. Help me learn to forgive and release each person and situation to You, without burying it inside, harboring it in my heart, or hardening part of my heart in judgment. Instead, teach me and empower me to respond well. As I persevere and overcome, You’re using all I go through to make me more like You, conforming me into the image of the Son of God (Romans 8:28-29). You’re making me more like You each day (1 John 4:17). You’re shaping my soul and developing my character, setting me free to be all You created me to be, as the son of God You said I am (Romans 8:16). As I learn to respond well, I’m learning to live well. To live as a victor and not a victim. To live as an overcomer and not one who’s always being overcome. To live as more than a conqueror because greater is the One who lives in me—empowering me, shaping me, making me more like You each day through every experience and encounter I face. If this is the faith I have, the determination I have, “the hope” I have, “this hope does not disappoint.” In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged this day. In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays My friend, may you be taught and empowered to respond well through any challenges or tribulations you go through, as the Lord develops His character in you, in Jesus' name. Morning by Morning, October 13, 2026 — “The Lamb is the Light”

Morning by Morning, October 13, 2026 — “The Lamb is the Light” Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be at the center of my heart and every moment of my day. … “But I saw no temple in (the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God), for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light” (Revelation 21:2, 22-23). Lord Jesus—Lamb of God, Light of the World—one day, You will be the Light of New Jerusalem. And every day between this day and that day to come, You desire to shine with the Light of Your Glory in us. “Christ in (us), the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). Just like the holy city will have “no need” of any other light, neither do we. You are “the Light of the world” (John 8:12). And, at the same time, with Your Spirit in our hearts, You say to us, as Your disciples and ambassadors, “You are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14). And one day, the New Jerusalem, the “holy city,” will descend from heaven, but every day between this day and that day to come, You also say, we are “a city set on a hill (that) cannot be hidden” (v. 14). Lord, let Your Light arise and shine in me and through me and every one of Your disciples (Isaiah 60:1-3). May we “shine as lights in the world” with Your Light in our hearts (Philippians 2:15). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged this day. In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays My friend, may you shine with the Light of Jesus, the Light of the World, shining through you into your world today, in Jesus' name. God bless you, my friend! Morning by Morning, October 12, 2026 — “Look and See How You Need Me”

Morning by Morning, October 12, 2026 — “Look and See How You Need Me” Good morning, Lord Jesus. Let Your light shine in my heart and through my life. … As I wait for Your leading, ready to listen and journal my prayer with You in these first moments of my morning, I hear in my heart: “Look and see how you need Me.” … Yes, Lord. Looking around, seeking to perceive the times, it can look bad. Trouble everywhere. Struggles everywhere. Heartbreaks and heartaches. Addictions and self-destruction. Hopelessness and fear, anxiety and stress, worry and weariness. Wars and rumors of wars. Reading the news doesn’t stir up my faith. In preparation for elections, the mood of the nation seems to be pushing back against biblical values and righteous decisions. If “righteousness exalts a nation,” it’s also true that “sin is a reproach to any people” (Proverbs 14:34). And I’m concerned our nation, our state, the heart of our people across our land may not be exalting our nation by calling on Your name and embracing Your ways. Yes, as I look and see, it makes me realize even more deeply than ever how much we need You, how much I need You. As You said long ago, You still speak today: “Apart from Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5). All that’s not built on You, grounded in Your Word and moved by Your Spirit will not last. It will not stand the test of time or the testings of these times: “For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire” (1 Corinthians 3:11-15). The days of testing, the days of fire, the days when all “will be revealed by fire” may be closer than we think. Lord, send Your Fire in our hearts now. Burn out the wood and hay and straw now. Convict us of sin that leads to repentance that leads to mercy. Confirm Your Word by Your Spirit in our hearts that we may arise and stand firm in the faith, unwavering in the winds of our times but steadfast in our prayers and our actions, in our words and our attitudes, in our choices and our votes for righteousness. Not just because it’s the right thing to do, but because You’ve established what’s right in our hearts. That’s how “righteousness exalts a nation”—because the Righteous One lives and moves and has His Being in us (Colossians 1:27; Acts 17:28). That’s the revelation that turns us to look and see just how desperately we need You. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged this day. In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays My friend, may you look and see how much we need the Lord, the Righteous One living in us and moving through us in our hearts and our world, in Jesus' name.
