Morning by Morning, February 5, 2026 — “My Strength and My Shield” Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be high and lifted up here in my heart and in my world. ... “The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him” (Psalm 28:7). You are my Strength within me and my Shield about me. As my strength, You empower me to be courageous. You anoint me to stand firm. You inspire me to boldly live my life grounded in Your Word and filled with Your Spirit. Though apart from You, I can do nothing; but I am never apart from You, always strong in You. That’s part of what it means that Your strength is made perfect in my weakness, that Your grace is sufficient for me (2 Corinthians 12:9). It’s not a weakness of character or power, but a weakness of surrendering my will to Your will, my ways to Your ways, my plans to Your plans, my inabilities to Your abilities. “For when I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Corinthians 12:10). As my shield, You also protect me. You surround me with Your Presence. You send forth Your word and Your angels to guard me (Psalm 91:1-16). “You, O Lord, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head” (Psalm 3:3). In Your strength and by Your shield, You “quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one” (Ephesians 6:16). Shielded by You, “No weapon formed against (me) shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against (me) in judgment, You shall condemn. The is the heritage of the servants of the Lord” (Isaiah 54:17). Empowered and protected, by Your strength and Your shield, send me forth into my day, filled with a song in my spirit of thanksgiving and praise. My heart greatly rejoices in You. “My heart triumphs” in You and all You do for me (Psalm 28:7 NASB). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today! Morning by Morning, February 4, 2026 — “Behold the Lamb” Good morning, Lord Jesus. I speak out Your name, open up my heart, and listen for Your leading in my spirit. ... “The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (Luke 1:29) As I begin my day, I “Behold the Lamb.” I take time to thank You and praise You for who You are and all You have done for me. For all You are continually doing for me every moment of every day. You have forgiven me of all my sins. You have cleansed me from the inside out. You have freed me from all that would hold me back from being all You created me to be. May I never take You for granted. May I never take Your grace for granted. And may my heart be forever filled with gratitude and my thoughts be forever filled with thanksgiving. Just as I behold You at the beginning of my day, may my attention and focus never lose hold of You through every moment of my day. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today! Morning by Morning, February 2, 2026 – “Christ Who is Our Life” Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be at the heart and center of all I am and all I do, today and every day. ... “When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory” (Colossians 3:4). Lord, what do You mean in Your Word when You speak of “Christ who is our life”? ... As I wait, what I hear in my heart is this: “When you give your life to me, I live My life in you and I live My life through you. I put My thoughts in your mind, My desires in your heart, My words in your mouth. I express My will through your life, as My ways become your ways. No one does this perfectly, but everyone can desire this to be their attitude of heart and perspective of mind. And no one can do any of this apart from Me, but everyone can willingly choose by the power of My grace and abiding Presence of My Spirit to seek to fully surrender all of their life to all of Me. These are those who can truly say, ‘Christ is my life.’” ... Yes, Lord. As best as I can and all by Your grace, I willingly choose for this to be my attitude of heart and perspective of mind. Lord, let it be so. Let Christ be my life. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today! Morning by Morning, January 30, 2026 — Both Known by God and Knowing God Good morning, Lord Jesus. Calling out to You, spirit to Spirit, heart to Heart, deep to Deep, I look to You, call out Your name, and listen for Your leading to intentionally begin my day with You in the awareness of Your Presence. ... “My Sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me” (John 10:27). You know me. And I know You. Part of knowing is listening, hearing, following. We get to know someone by spending time with them, being attentive to them, seeking to understand them. The same is true in our relationship. You know all about me. You formed me in my mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13). “You have searched me and known me” and “are acquainted with all my ways” (v. 1, 3). And there’s so much more than I can fully grasp in the eternity and enormity of Your Presence. You stir in me and draw me to know all about You. Not only to know about You, but to know You. You promise me that if I draw near to You, You will draw near to me (James 4:8). You promise me that If I seek You with all my heart, I will find You (Jeremiah 29:13). And You promise me that if I join myself to You, You join Yourself with me, that I may even become “one spirit with (You)” in the unity and intimacy of a depth of personal relationship I can only begin to imagine (1 Corinthians 6:17). “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it. Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your Presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me” (Psalm 139:6-10). I thank You for how much I’ve been graced to know You, Lord. Help me know You more. As You said of this pursuit of knowing God in Your high and priestly prayer of John 17: “And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent” (John 17:3). By the power of Your grace moving in my heart to pursue You and to know You, I embrace this spiritual journey with the goal “that all things are worth nothing compared with the greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.... This allows me to have Christ” (Philippians 3:8 NCV). In each and every dimension of Your Being, One God, revealed in Three Persons—God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit—give me a hunger and thirst to know You more in my daily, deliberate, intentional, focused, and passionate spiritual pursuit of You, my Lord, my God. As I come to the close of this set-apart time with You, to get up from my prayer chair to go out into my day, some words from an old worship by Graham Kendrick are flooding into my heart: Now my heart's desire is to know You more, To be found in You and known as Yours, To possess by faith what I could not earn All surpassing gift of righteousness.   Knowing You, Jesus, knowing You There is no greater thing You're my all, You're the best You're my joy, my righteousness, And I love You Lord.
