"To Rejoice is a Choice" 9-18-05

Good morning, Lord Jesus. In the words of the old hymn, "I come to the Father through Jesus, the Son, and give Him the glory; great things He has done. Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Let the earth hear His voice. Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Let the people rejoice!" ... We come to You, Father. You are One with the Son and One with the Spirit. You desire to be one with us in the mystery of the communion of prayer and praise. Open our ears to hear Your voice. Open our spirits to praise and rejoice. "O give thanks to the Lord, call on His name; make known His deeds among the peoples. Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; tell of all His wonderful works. Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. Seek the Lord and His strength, seek His presence continually" (1 Chronicles 16.8-11). I hear You saying, "To rejoice is a choice." Yes, Lord. We choose this day to rejoice in You -- no matter what circumstances we face. We rejoice that You are with us to strengthen us, encourage us, empower us to overcome every obstacle and challenge of the world, the flesh, and the devil. They are all defeated in the power of praise, because praise reminds us and reminds our spiritual enemies of Your presence and Your promises that we will prevail in Your power. As You arise in our hearts and in our praise, our enemies are scattered and our challenges are overcome (Psalm 68). Praise the Lord! Let the people rejoice in the victory of the power of Your presence enthroned in our praise! In Jesus' name we praise, Amen. Be encouraged this day!
