Morning by Morning, May 18 - The Case for Life in the Highest Court of the Land
Good morning, Lord Jesus. King of kings and Lord of lords, be King of my heart and Lord of my life, as I seek to begin my day fully surrendered to You. ...
Yesterday the Supreme Court of the United States agreed to hear a major abortion case challenging the 1973 precedent of Roe v. Wade. No doubt there’s great war in the heavenly realm after nearly 50 years of the principality of death claiming vast legal right to “steal and kill and destroy” in our land (John 10:10; Ephesians 6:12).
But You came that we would have “life and life abundantly” (John 10:10). And life begins in the mother’s womb. Your word speaks forth that life and Your hands knit that life together, created by God with an inalienable right to live out his or her identity, purpose, and destiny as a child of God of infinite worth:
“For it was You who formed my inward parts;
You knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are Your works;
that I know very well” (Psalm 139:13-14).
There’s no life You do not love (John 3:16). There’s no sin You will not forgive (1 John 1:9). And there’s no curse upon the land You will not break by the power of Your blood and authority of Your name when You’re people who are called by Your name turn to You in repentance and prayer to forgive our sin, to cleanse our hearts, and to heal our land (2 Chronicles 7:14).
Today I join all who pray for the healing of mothers’ hearts who made a choice to end a life in their womb. I pray for the forgiveness of sins of all involved, as hearts turn to You in the cleansing of repentance and the freedom of deliverance (James 4:7). I pray for the peace of every soul, every life, we entrust into the grace of Your embrace (Ecclesiastes 12:7). I pray for the forgiveness of Your people who are called by Your name in Your church who allowed it to happen, whether by complacency or compromise, throughout these last 50 years, until she found her courage and her voice to stand up and speak out to say No.
Today we say No to death. We say Yes to life. And we humble ourselves to pray that the highest Court in our land would come into agreement with the Court of Heaven to say No to death and Yes to life (Daniel 7:10).
In this heavenly court battle being set into motion, I join all who are praying for a manifestation in this matter that comes before this court on earth of the full manifestation of the Final Verdict that will issue one day from the Court of Heaven. One day to come, You will issue Your Decree and Final Verdict when You silence the voice of the accuser and issue the Final Judgment of Your Court against death and hell:
“(The accuser) shall speak words against the Most High,
shall wear out the holy ones of the Most High,
and shall attempt to change the sacred seasons and the law;
and they shall be given into his power
for a time, two times, and half a time.
Then the Court shall sit in judgment,
and his dominion shall be taken away,
to be consumed and totally destroyed.
The kingship and dominion
and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven
shall be given to the people of the holy ones of the Most High;
their kingdom shall be an everlasting kingdom,
and all dominions shall serve and obey them” (Daniel 7:25-27)
“The last enemy to be destroyed is death” (1 Corinthians 15:23).
“Then death and hell were thrown into the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:14).
One day, all will be set right. And every day, every court case, between this day and that one, we pray, “Your kingdom come. Your will be done. On earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10). As Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King decreed on the authority of Your Word in the fight of his day for this Court to overcome the wrong precedent of the past and set things right in the battle for what’s just and true at hand: “Let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like a mighty stream!” (from Amos 5:24).
When the final gavel sounds, Life will win. For the Author of Life is revealed in Love (1 John 4:8). “Love does not delight in evil but rejoices in truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails” (1 Corinthians 13:6-8). Lord, let it be so on earth as it is in heaven. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

My friend, may you stand up and speak out with courage and conviction for life to prevail and death to be defeated in our land, in Jesus' name. Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!
