Morning by Morning, May 14 - “Wall of Fire” Around Israel
Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be high and lifted up, exalted as first here in my heart and every moment of my day -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. ...
“Then the angel who talked with me came forward, and another angel came forward to meet him, and said to him, ‘Run, say to that young man: Jerusalem shall be inhabited like villages without walls, because of the multitude of people and animals in it. For I will be a wall of fire all around it, says the Lord, and I will be the glory within it’” (Zechariah 2:3-5).
Terrorists are firing thousands and thousands of rockets indiscriminately into population centers of civilians and children in Israel. And Israel is firing into the sky over her cities their “Iron Dome” defense shield of rocket interceptors. As any sovereign nation, Israel has the right to defend herself.
As I saw a photo of the scene captured before dawn this morning, I immediately thought of Your Word expressing Your prophetic Promise over Israel: “I will be a wall of fire all around it ... I will be the glory within it” (Zechariah 2:5).
Yes, Lord. You are her Wall of Fire. You are her Iron Dome.
As Your Word commands us, I “pray for the peace of Jerusalem” (Psalm 122:6). I pray Your blessing of protection over the people of Israel (Genesis 12:3).
And now in the midst of this crisis, would You come and be her Glory. Would You hear her cries of distress and fill the hearts of her people with the Glory of Your Manifest Presence -- the Glory of the Holy Spirit of the Living God revealed in her Messiah, Yeshua Hamashiach, the Lord Jesus Christ her Savior.
Lord turn this terror into testimonies. Turn Your prophetic Promise of protection into Your prophetic Promise of salvation: “And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn” (Zechariah 12:10 NKJV).
But just as there are prophetic Promises of protection and salvation, there are also prophetic Warnings of the propaganda and power of many nations that will unite together against Israel for her destruction and world-wide isolation (Zechariah 14:1-2). Yet one day to come, You will hear and answer and come in great power to take Your stand for Your people against all the nations who come against her:
“Then the Lord will go forth and fight against those nations as when He fights on a day of battle. On that day His feet shall stand on the Mount of Olives, which lies before Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives shall be split in two from east to west by a very wide valley; so that one half of the Mount shall withdraw northward, and the other half southward.... And the Lord will become King over all the earth; on that day the Lord will be one and His name one.... Then all who survive of the nations that have come against Jerusalem shall go up year after year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the Festival of Tabernacles” (Zechariah 14:3-9).
We don’t know all that will happen between this day and that day to come. But we do know it’s in Your heart we are to pray for the protection and the salvation of Israel, that her heart would turn to her Messiah and that all the nations would turn to You in worship as the Lord of hosts and King of all the nations of the earth. All in Your time and all in Your way, this prophetic Promise spoken through the Apostle Paul will be fulfilled:
“So that you may not claim to be wiser than you are, brothers and sisters, I want you to understand this mystery: a hardening has come upon part of Israel, until the full number of the Gentiles has come in. And so all Israel will be saved; as it is written,
‘Out of Zion will come the Deliverer;
He will banish ungodliness from Jacob.’
‘And this is My covenant with them,
when I take away their sins’ (Romans 11:25-27)
“Oh, the depths of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! ... For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things to whom be glory forever!” (Romans 11:33-36) In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
