Morning by Morning, February 1 - “Sharing of the Gospel” Good morning, Lord Jesus. King of Kings and Lord of Lords, be King of my heart and Lord of my life -- this day and every day. ... “I thank my God every time I remember you, constantly praying with joy in every one of my prayers for all of you, because of your sharing in the Gospel from the first day until now. I am confident of this, that the One who began a good work among you will bring it to completion by the day of Jesus Christ. It is right for me to think this way about all of you, because you hold me in your heart, for all of you share in God’s grace, with me, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the Gospel. For God is my witness, how I long for all of you with the compassion of Christ Jesus. And this is my prayer, that your love may overflow more and more with knowledge and full insight to help you to determine what is best, so that in the day of Christ you may be pure and blameless, having produced the harvest of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ for the glory and praise of God” (Philippians 1:3-11). Thank You, Lord, for all those You’ve called to come alongside us in the “sharing of the Gospel from the first day until now” through Messiah Ministries (v. 5). Nearly thirty years ago, You called me out of my full time practice as a trial lawyer into full time study for the ministry to be an advocate for Jesus. After the years of seminary and ordination, You commissioned me to minister the transforming power of healing and deliverance, at home and to the nations, in personal prayer ministry and in broader settings of revivals, conferences, seminars, and retreats, instead of the more traditional path of pastoring a local church. You gave me a simple message from the Gospel of the Kingdom -- “Preparing the Way of the Lord” -- preparing the way of the Lord in the earth and in people’s hearts. One day You will come in Your glory in the skies: “For the Lord Himself, with a cry of command, with the archangel’s call and with the sound of God’s trumpet, will descend from heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up in the clouds together with them to meet the Lord in the air; and so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words!” (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18). And at the same time, You want to come in Your glory in our hearts every day right now -- every day between this day and that glorious day to come: “In your hearts, sanctify Christ as Lord” (1 Peter 3:14). So our Father has sent His Holy Spirit to prepare a holy Bride for Christ -- pure and holy, free and whole, passionate and powerful (Ephesians 5:25-27; Revelation 19:7 and 22:17). It’s a spiritual identity -- not a gender identity; just as men are part of the spiritual Bride and women are part of the “bringing many sons to glory” (Hebrews 2:10). It’s a deeply personal, intimate relationship of faithful and loyal love with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. “He who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with Him” (1 Corinthians 6:17). So this has been my passion and my prayer. In cities and communities across America and to the nations on almost every continent -- preparing the way of the Lord, healing from the inside out, ministering the healing love of God, seeing disciples set free to be all God created them to be -- free to be like Jesus -- through the Person and Presence and power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:29; 1 John 4:17; 2 Corinthians 3:18). Helping disciples of Jesus know their identity and grow up into their spiritual maturity and authority in Christ (Ephesians 4:11-16). Healing the brokenhearted and setting the captives free by the marriage of ministry of the Word and the Spirit in the authority of the name of Jesus (Luke 4:18, fulfilling Isaiah 61; Luke 9:1-2; John 14:12 and 20:21; Mark 16:15-18; Acts 1:8). “And this Gospel of the Kingdom will be proclaimed through the world, as a testimony to all the nations; and then the end will come!” (Matthew 24;14) I praise You for every person who’s been a part, throughout all these years, with their prayers and encouragement and support and love. Too many to name and so many to thank. And so much more to do, so many more places to go, so many more hearts to be touched and changed, including my own on the journey and adventure of faith. It’s daily journey, step by step and morning by morning, as Isaiah said: “The Lord God has given me the tongue of a teacher, that I may know how to sustain the weary with a word. Morning by morning He wakens -- wakens my ear to listen as those who are taught. The Lord God has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious, I did not turn backward” (Isaiah 50:4-5). So as Paul said, “I thank my God every time I remember” each of these who have joined with me and continue to join with me in one way or another in this ministry of the love of God entrusted to me, “constantly praying with joy in every one of my prayers” for all of them. May Your love in each of them “overflow more and more.” And with Paul, I am confident of this, He who began a good work will be faithful to complete it -- all by the power of the grace of God at work in the sons and daughters of God, the Body and the Bride of the Risen Christ! In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
