Morning by Morning, February 8 - Generational Blessings Good morning, Lord Jesus. Lead me by Your Spirit into all You have for me today -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. ... “I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that lived first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, lives in you” (2 Timothy 1:5). The Apostle Paul spoke of this generational blessing of faith in his spiritual son Timothy’s heart. It was a faith passed down from his grandmother to his mother to him, from generation to generation to generation. That’s part of our job and part of our honor. We have the responsibility and blessing of passing on our blessing and our faith from generation to generation. What lives in us can continue to live and grow and thrive in the generations to come. It’s part of the expression of Your Father heart of God that Your blessings of steadfast love would pass down through the generations of those who love You, even “to the thousandth generation” (Exodus 20:6). I’m getting to spend some time away with my granddaughter Alice this week. She just turned four months old yesterday and already she looks just like me -- at least in my eyes, in my heart, and at the very least in her baby belly! I was blessed to be with her on her first day of her birth into this world and blessed to be with her on this 120th day too! Even though she lives far, far away in the far too distant land of Florida, I’m thankful there’s no distance of time or space in the spiritual realm. I’m with her all the time in my thoughts and prayers from Texas, but at the same time, it’s really nice to be with her also in my hugs and kisses right here in my arms in person. Lord, may You multiply the impact of these precious moments I have. And may the love and faith You’ve poured into my heart be poured into her heart. May that love and faith be passed down to her children and their children and their children, from generation to generation until the day You come again in glory (1 Thessalonians 4:16; Revelation 22:17). May my little Alice and may all Your sons and daughters of God receive and embrace every blessing of God. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, just as He chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless before Him in love” (Ephesians 1:3). “The Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you. The Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace” (Numbers 6:24-26). Lord, let it be so, in Alice and to all Your generations. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
