Seeking to Teach and Equip with the Father Heart of God - September 2, 2022

 

Morning by Morning, September 2 - Seeking to Teach and Equip with the Father Heart of God   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Put Your thoughts in my mind and Your desires in my heart, as You make me more like You today (1 John 4:17). ...   “For though you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers” (1 Corinthians 4:15 NKJV).   I’m filled with expectant faith for what You will do during the days of this long weekend in Lampasas, Texas, just north of Austin. Several churches across the community have come together for those being called to healing and deliverance prayer ministry to be equipped and trained “for the work of the ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ” (Ephesians 4:12). There’s always a special blessing and powerful anointing that flows from Your Spirit when we join together in unity, coming across the denominational boundaries and overcoming the temptation for territorial control in a spiritual atmosphere like this. As Psalm 133 declares:   “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, Running down on the beard, The beard of Aaron, Running down on the edge of his garments. It is like the dew of Hermon, Descending upon the mountains of Zion; For there the Lord commanded the blessing-- Life forevermore!” (Psalm 133:1-3).   In the “precious oil” of Your Holy Spirit, would You pour out Your anointing upon us in these days? Would You teach us, equip us, empower us as sons and daughters of God, as disciples of Jesus Christ, to learn to minister the healing love of God, as You heal the brokenhearted and set the captives free in this community of faith? Would You command Your blessing of “Life forevermore” in our hearts and then in the hearts of all You will heal and free in the authority of Your name and the power of Your love?   As You give me the grace to teach and instruct, to share and pray, to guide and impart, would You give me the grace of the Father heart of God? Not just being one of many instructions, but one with Your heart, led by Your Spirit, to equip and train and teach Your people with an anointing of Your authority (Matthew 7:29).   Thank You for the teachers You’ve given me, for the fathers and mothers in the faith through whom You’ve imparted to me all through these past twenty-five years of ministry. And thank You that You still are. Freely I have received, and may I freely give (Matthew 10:8 -- including both verse 8a and verse 8b, as we discussed last night). “Silver and gold have I none, but such as I have” I desire to give to all You’ve brought together in this spiritual atmosphere You’ve prepared to prepare the harvesters for the great harvest ahead (Acts 3:6).   “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few” (Matthew 9:37). And I praise You for the intercessors and pastors and spiritual leaders in this region who have been praying for “the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest” (Matthew 9:38). And I praise You for all who pray for us and our ministry to get to be a part and do our part of all You are imparting in our generation for these days and those to come (Romans 1:11), as Your Holy Spirit is preparing the way of the Lord in our hearts and in the earth (Isaiah 57:14; Malachi 3:1; Matthew 3:3).   I’m excited! I’m expectant! I’m ready and willing and available! And I’m taking hold of the One who has taken hold of me, that I can love and teach and equip Your people with Your heart. Just as You’ve done in me, would You now do through me -- at home and abroad and everywhere You send me. Here I am, Lord. Send me to be Your witness in the character of Your heart and the authority of Your name (Isaiah 6:8; Acts 1:8). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.   Be encouraged today! Morning by Morning, September 1 - We “Walk in a Manner Worthy of the Calling” by the Grace Given to Us   Good morning, Lord Jesus. I seek You -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God -- with all my heart, here at the first of my day. ...   “I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit -- just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call -- one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ's gift” (Ephesians 4:1-7 ESV).   Thank You for the “grace (that) was given to each one of us.” It’s only by the power of Your grace that any of us can “walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which (we) have been called.” It’s only by the power of Your grace that we can even begin to know and then to grow in that calling that You’ve “given to each one of us” according to Your will and Your plans for our lives and the lives You will touch through us.   And it’s certainly only by the power of Your grace that any of us can walk out and live out our calling with humility, gentleness, patience, love, and peace. You have to give us even the desire for that, along with the power for that. As Your Word says:   “For God is working in (us), giving (us) the desire and the power to do what pleases Him” (Philippians 2:13 NLT).   Our “God and Father of all” is also “in all.” You’re “working in (us)” by the power of Your Holy Spirit, “the Spirit of God” who abides in us, who is the “Spirit of Christ” living in us, giving us both the desire and the power to walk out and live out our calling in You. As Word explains:   “(We) are not in the flesh; (we) are in the Spirit, since the Spirit of God dwells in (us). Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to Him” (Romans 8:9).   We desperately need You, because “Apart from (You), (we) can do nothing” but as we “abide in (You)” we are empowered to “bear much fruit” (John 15:5). That’s what I desire. And that’s why I embrace Your power by Your grace, seeking to abide in You and follow You to “walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which (I) have been called.”   With me, apart from You, that would be impossible. “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26). And I thank You that I’m never apart from You. You are with me “always” (Matthew 28:20). You never leave me nor forsake me (Hebrews 13:5). And by Your grace, You empower me and lead me to fulfill my destiny in You, secure in my identity in You -- all “according to measure of Christ’s gift” to me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. “Bear Fruit, Fruit that Will Last” - August 31, 2022

 

Morning by Morning, August 31 - “Bear Fruit, Fruit that Will Last”   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be at the center of my heart and in the middle of every moment of my day. ...   “You did not choose Me, but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask Him in My name” (John 15:16).   By the moving of Your Holy Spirit in my heart and through this ministry You’ve entrusted to me, I want the moments of my days to “bear fruit” and bear “fruit that will last.” I believe You’ve appointed me, as one of Your disciples, as one of the children of my Father, “to go” in the power and the Presence of Your Spirit to minister the healing love of God everywhere You send me, whether at home or abroad. And one of the expressions of that love is to see people set free from all that would hold them back from being all You created them to be -- free to be like Jesus.   My wife Rocio and I have just finished our last assignment “to go” and minster Your healing love in Your power among the people of Mexico. I made it home last night and she’s still there a little longer, going over to spend some extended time with family and friends in the community where she grew up in central Mexico. We were so blessed to have many of them come over to join us in some of our ministry time. Her brother was one of the twenty souls who were saved last Sunday morning! Praise You, Lord!   We praise You for the many salvations, healing of spirit, soul, and body, freedom from spiritual oppression, and fresh baptisms of the Holy Spirit in the Fire of God, with awakening of spiritual gifts in the communities of Torreon, Patzcuaro, and Morelia. And we’re excited to go again as You lead us and appoint us to go and make disciples (Matthew 28:20) in the power of Your Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8).   On our last evening there, as we were hearing some of the testimonies of what You had done in the lives of the people, we were especially moved to hear some stories of the “fruit that will last” -- fruit that remained and was continuing to grow from some who had received ministry on our last trip there seven months ago. Some of the fruit of this kind of ministry of “inner healing” -- what I call “healing from the inside out” in spirit, soul, and body -- springs up suddenly, even miraculously. Like the woman who testified last weekend that she was suddenly, miraculously able to understand English after forgiving her father who had put the wrong kind of pressure on her as a child to learn! But most of the fruit of this kind of ministry comes little by little, layer by layer, step by step, as Your Spirit changes hearts and renews minds to transform Your people “from glory to glory” (2 Corinthians 3:18).   So it was so good to hear what You had done, as we heard of deeper peace, fuller joy, greater freedom, growing confidence, and spiritual awakening that was continuing to mature in experience and expression over time. Praise God! We praise You for the testimonies of “fruit that will last!” and for the stories of Your glory that we’ve not even heard yet and maybe never will until we stand before You in Heaven. But right now, our hearts sing with joy for all You have done! Our hearts are full of praise for answering the prayers of so many who have prayed for this ministry of the healing love of God.   You said, “My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit and become My disciples” (John 15:8). And You want us to know that “(You) have said these things to (us) so that (Your) joy may be in (us) and that (our) joy may be complete” and full (John 15:11).   Our joy is complete and full! And we pray that all who join with us in prayer, in encouragement, and in ministry, will be filled up and overflowing with Your joy, as each of our lives “bear fruit, fruit that will last” in the different ways You call each of us and send each of us “to go” -- whether in our prayers or with our suitcases -- in the authority of Your name and the power of Your Spirit! In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today! Love and Restoration through Freedom in Christ - August 23, 2022

 

Morning by Morning, August 23 - Love and Restoration through Freedom in Christ Good morning, Lord Jesus. I thank You for the cross and for all Your mercy and love, as I begin my day grateful for You. ... “They came to the other side of the sea, to the region of the Gadarenes. And when (Jesus) had stepped out of the boat, immediately a man from the tombs with an unclean spirit met Him. He lived among the tombs, and no one could restrain him any more, even with a chain, for he had often been restrained with shackles and chains, but the chains he wrenched apart, and the shackles he broke in pieces, and no one had the strength to subdue him. Night and day among the tombs and on the mountains he was always howling and bruising himself with stones. When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and bowed down before Him...” (Mark 5:1-6). ... We call this man “the Gadarene” demoniac, because he had “many” demons (v. 9). They tormented him and isolated him, getting people to turn against him and getting him to turn against himself. We think of him as “a hard case” or extreme example of spiritual torment. But at the same time, if we’re really honest with ourselves and our own struggles, aren’t their times when we can find out ourselves isolated or rejected, judged and feeling alone, even hurting ourselves with different forms of self-abusive to deaden the pain or try to silence the voices? Our situation and spiritual battles may not be quite as extreme, but just as much in need of a Savior who can set us free. The most important part of the story, the part where everything begins to change in this man’s life, is when “he ran and bowed down before (You)” (v. 6). That wasn’t the demons that ran to Jesus. That was the man. All their power of influence over his life from whatever had given them that kind of access to his mind and will and emotions of his soul couldn’t keep him from running to Jesus. You knew he was there. You knew his needs. And You went “to the other side” to go to him in Your mercy and love. But at the same time, he also needed to come to You. He needed to open his heart and call on Your name, that You could set him free in Your love and restoration through Your liberation of his life. And that’s just what You did. Because that’s just what You do. The spiritual battle was intense (v. 7-13). But the spiritual victory was assured. He was set free and restored to “his right mind” in the power of Your mercy and love (v. 15). Last night I was so honored and moved to share this message You had put in my heart at a church called Amor & Restauración in Morelia, Mexico -- named for the Love and Restoration of our Savior’s mercy and love, for the healing and liberation we can have in Christ. Nearly a thousand came, with many new people coming, along with many who were in programs seeking recovery from their tormenting situations, according to Pastor Omar. And also many who looked fine on the outside, but at the same time, who also struggled with torment in the mind and will and emotions of their souls on the inside. There were many -- like all of us -- who needed Your healing from the inside out to be restored to our right mind, “a right spirit” with a “clean heart” and the “joy of (our) salvation” (Psalm 51:10-12). Literally hundreds lifted their hands and opened their hearts to be saved! And literally hundreds experienced the power of Your mercy and love to be set free in their spirit and soul and body in Christ! You were willing to come “to the other side” of our lives. And we were willing to come running to You in our hearts -- running to Jesus that You could set us free. That’s what You did. Because that’s what You do! And after You did that for that man that day on the other side of the sea, You sent him home to his community to “tell them how much the Lord (had) done for (him) and what mercy He has shown (him)” (v. 19). And as he “began to proclaim ... how much Jesus did for him” everywhere he went, “everyone was amazed!” (v. 20) They were “amazed” because You’re an amazing Savior whose heart of mercy and love, of love and restoration, is to heal the brokenhearted and set the captives free -- no matter how intense our situation, no matter how hidden the pain and torment of our own battles. A long time ago, You crossed over to the other side when You went to the cross for our salvation and for our freedom. And now You’re so ready to respond to all who could come running to You.
