True “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” as Defined by God - February 28, 2023

 

Morning by Morning, February 28 - True “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” as Defined by God   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Put Your thoughts in my mind and Your desires in my heart, as I seek to begin my day grounded in Your Word and filled with Your Spirit. ...   Last night I was honored to give the opening prayer and remarks for a rally in our community of Fredericksburg, Texas, hosted by Moms for Liberty, encouraging our community to stand up and speak out against the tide of the culture of our day seeking to program and pervert the minds of our children. World renown investigative journalist Lara Logan, who lives and raises their children in our community, spoke with fiery passion against the false narratives and dark agendas being imposed upon our children with nice-sounding terms like “diversity, equity, and inclusion,” which are doing just the opposite to the hearts and minds of our children.   This morning, the Word of Scripture that Your Holy Spirit is bringing to mind to me is a picture of the true diversity and equity and inclusion You intend for every child of God in all Your creation:   “Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song, saying:   ‘You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.’   “Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice:   ‘Worthy is the Lamb who was slain To receive power and riches and wisdom, And strength and honor and glory and blessing!’   “And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying:   ‘Blessing and honor and glory and power Be to Him who sits on the throne, And to the Lamb, forever and ever!” (Revelation 5:8-13)   That’s a picture of the children of God, saved and redeemed by the Lamb of God, grown up to maturity in their true identity as the sons and daughters of God, worshipping You and serving You as “kings and priests to our God” in true diversity and equity and inclusion from “every tribe and tongue and people and nation!”   You are the One to receive all glory and power and honor and blessing -- not the governments of this world or the rulers and influencers and controllers of the world. And Your Word is what is to define gender and sexuality and marriage and life and family and morality.   Come, Holy Spirit, in this radical revolution of restoration to what is right and reformation into all You’ve forever desired for all the children of God created in the image of God.   Last night I shared a prophetic picture You gave me during the prayer time of a powder keg about to explode and a spark ready to ignite it. Lara Logan said what immediately came to her the moment I spoke it was “urgency.” Now is the time to act. Now is the time to stand up and speak out and take a stand for the sake of our children.   Yes, Lord. Ignite our hearts by Your Holy Spirit. Let us not be complacent, but courageous. Let us not be passive, but passionate. Let us not be intimidated, but invigorated. By the power of Your grace, let us fight for this generation entrusted to our care -- not to the care of the rulers of this age, but to our care in submission to the One who is Ruler of All for all eternity. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today! Jesus Revolution - February 27, 2023

 

Morning by Morning, February 27 - Jesus Revolution   Good morning, Lord Jesus. I’m hungry for You and more of Your Spirit (Ephesians 5:18). ...   After church yesterday, my wife and I went to see the release of the new movie Jesus Revolution, about the birthing of the Jesus Movement of the ‘70s. It’s based on the true story of a true revolution that made us laugh and cry and applaud out-loud with everyone else in the theater at the end. And as I rise and get into my prayer chair to begin my day with You today, Your Spirit is reminding me of another revolution from the Book of Acts:   “These who have turned the world upside down have come here too!” (Acts 17:6)   And Your Spirit is stirring in me Your desire for another revolution in our day.   Come, Holy Spirit. Turn my world upside down and inside out until “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ!” (Revelation 11:15) Come set things right again -- in our hearts, in our communities, even in our churches, and across this land and to the ends of earth. “Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; mercy and truth go before Your face” (Psalm 89:14).   Like the ‘70s, many are searching for the truth today in a world of confusion and deception. Many are searching for what is real and genuine, authentic and true, in a world of chaos and counterfeits, filled with fakes and phonies. Like in the 70’s, the world is ripe for another revolution, another Jesus Revolution! We’re hungry and thirsty for the Presence of God to come fill our hearts and turn our world upside down again. And from the outbreaks of revival, from the stirrings of awakening already breaking out before our eyes and in our hearts, that revolution of revival is already here and growing stronger by the day!   As You declared during the Jesus Revolution of Your day, when Your Light stepped down into the darkness of our world to turn the Roman world upside down and the Jewish world upside and the Gentile world upside down with Your Words of Spirit and Life and Truth, “From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force” (Matthew 11:12).   That’s not a violence of division and strife grounded in hatred and evil, lawlessness and sin, confusion and chaos. It’s a violence of love that conquers all (1 Corinthians 13:8). It’s a violence of love that unrelenting and everlasting (Lamentations 3:22). It’s a violence of love that’s unafraid to stand up and speak the truth even when it costs you something (Ephesians 4:15). It’s a violence of love that will keep reaching out to every heart, keep speaking up of the One who is the Truth, keep burning with Holy Fire to set hearts ablaze with a renewed and revived passion for God, turning this world upside down until every knee bows and every tongue confesses that “Jesus Christ is Lord to the Glory of God the Father!” (Philippians 2:9)   Come, Lord Jesus. Start Your revolution in me!   The final Chapter of the final Book of the Bible expresses this hope and battle cry of this Jesus Revolution like this: “The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let him who hears say, ‘Come!’ And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely!” (Revelation 22:17)   As the Leader of this revolution, as the conquering King of this cultural war that been raging since the nearly the beginning of time, You declare to us and encourage us: “Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and End, the First and the Last” (Revelation 22:12) And as the final Words of Your final Book decrees: “He who testifies to these things says, ‘Surely I am coming quickly.’ Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus! The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with (us) all. Amen!” (Revelation 22:20-21) In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today! Desperate Determination for an Encounter with Jesus - February 24, 2023

 

Morning by Morning, February 24 - Desperate Determination for an Encounter with Jesus   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be at the heart of my heart and in the middle of every moment of my day. ...   In these days of revival, of a new awakening in America, of people pressing into Jesus in desperate spiritual hunger for a deeper encounter of the Presence of God, I’m reminded of the woman “with the issue of blood” (Luke 8:43 KJV). She was desperate for an encounter with Jesus and she let nothing get in her way:   “But as (Jesus) went, the multitudes thronged Him. Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any, came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped.   “And Jesus said, ‘Who touched Me?’   “When all denied it, Peter and those with him said, ‘Master, the multitudes throng and press You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’   “But Jesus said, ‘Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me.’ Now when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before Him, she declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately.   “And He said to her, ‘Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace’” (Luke 8:42-48 NKJV).   There’s so much to see in this story, so much to embrace in our own story of pursuing Jesus. But the main thing I seeing this morning is her desperate determination of persistent, persevering faith.   She wasn’t just sick and wanted to be well. She had had her “issue of blood” for twelve long years. And under the Law, her condition made her “unclean” -- which meant unwelcome, unseen, unworthy, unable to be in the presence of other people and participate in a normal life (see Leviticus 15:25-27). She could have been severely punished for coming out in public to come after You. So her faith was full of risk. She was risking everything in her desperate determination, in her persistent, persevering faith.   My good friend John Bennett and I were just talking about this last night at our home group. And he was telling me something I’d never seen before. When the woman “touched” the hem of Your garment, she wasn’t just sneaking up to barely brush Your clothes. The word in the original language that is translated as “touched” is a much more powerful, even aggressive word (Luke 8:44). It’s the Greek word “haptomai” and really means “to fasten one’s self to, adhere to, cling to.”   She was taking hold of You with passionate faith -- fastening herself to You, adhering to You, clinging to You. No wonder that even though You were being “thronged” by the crowds, it was this one woman who got Your attention. You stopped everything. You turned to her and gave her Your full attention, just as she was giving You her full attention in her passionate, persistent, persevering faith.   The power of God in You responded to the passionate faith in her.   She trembled in fear, maybe in fear of what might happen to her now that she was exposed as someone who was not satisfied to sit back or keep hidden away or holding back. But You saw her and spoke to her. You honored her for her faith and her persistence before everyone.   Your perfect love cast out her fear and healed her body, as well as her heart and soul from her twelve long years of pain and shame and poverty and everything else that she endured until that moment of her encounter with You. She was made well. She could now go in peace, filled with fresh joy and good cheer.   Lord, give us that kind of passion to pursue You -- not even just seeking a “touch” from the Lord, but pressing in, taking hold, risking everything for an encounter with You in a desperate determination to settle for nothing less. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today! Morning by Morning, February 23 - Let “the Traditions of Men” Give Way to the Presence of God   Good morning, Lord Jesus. King of Kings and Lord of Lords, be the King of my heart and Lord of my life this day and every day. ...   “And the Pharisees and the scribes asked Him, ‘Why do Your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat with defiled hands?’ And He said to them, ‘Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written,   “‘This people honors Me with their lips,    but their heart is far from Me; in vain do they worship Me,    teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ You leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men.’   “And He said to them, ‘You have a fine way of rejecting the commandment of God in order to establish your tradition!” (Mark 7:5-9)   Forgive us for the ways we hold fast to our traditions instead of taking hold of You. Forgive us for the ways we get stuck in the past instead embracing the present.   Let us not worship in vain but worship the One who is not only God of the past, but God of the past, present, and future, who is God of all.   They say those who are the most resistant to what You are doing now are those who experienced what You did in the past. Their past experience of Your Presence has become their present tradition of how everyone must experience You now. Their expectations and restrictions have become doctrines of the commandments of men rather than pursuing the present heart of God. Their established traditions of men cloud their discernment of the movement of the Spirit of God. But the sons of God are led by the Spirit of God (Romans 8:14).   Even regarding the revival and awakening we pray for and long for and seek to experience in our own hearts and across our land, the most resistant of the present revival can be those who experienced the past revival. Lord, set us free! --Free to seek You today, to embrace You today, to allow You to move by Your Spirit in whatever way You desire today!   “For He says, ‘In a favorable time I listened to you,     and in a day of salvation I have helped you.’   “Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation! We put no obstacle in anyone's way, so that no fault may be found with our ministry” (2 Corinthians 6:2).   Yes, Lord. Let us “put no obstacle in anyone’s way” to embrace all You are and all You are doing in our day. Today is the day of Your favor; today is the day of our salvation. Let us take hold of You today, allow You to revive us today, awaken us today, and fill us up and overflowing with Your Spirit today! (Ephesians 5:18) Let all the traditions of men give way to the Presence of God! In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today!
