Morning by Morning, August 24, 2026— “I Am Renewing Your Heart” Good morning, Lord Jesus. I speak out Your name and listen for Your leading. … As I wait, this is what I believe I hear in my heart: “I am renewing your heart, as you keep opening your heart to Me.” … Yes, Lord. Your words this morning remind me of Your Word to Your people long ago: “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh” (Ezekiel 36:26). Only You can renew a heart. Only You can renew a right spirit. And at the same time, we have to open our heart to You. In that sense, we have to willingly choose to let Your Spirit move in our spirit to let You form Your Heart in our heart. We can say Yes, or we can say No. We can surrender, or we can resist. We can embrace You and all You have for us, or we just go right on ahead leaning on our own understanding without acknowledging You in all Your ways, satisfied with our hardened heart of stone, instead of the tender heart of flesh You want to form in us. The choice is ours. Just as You spoke to Your people through Ezekiel of the new heart You would give them, You also said through that same Prophet, the choice of was theirs: “Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O house of Israel?” (Ezekiel 18:31). Yes, Lord, I want to “get (myself) a new heart and a new spirit.” And I can’t do it. You have to do it. And You are so willing and able to do it if I will only allow You to do it. It’s not just a one time prayer. Not just a one-time surrender. It’s every day. Every moment of every day. You set before me life or death. A tender heart or a hardened heart. An open heart or a closed heart. A heart that says I’m all Yours or a heart that says I’m just fine. Your mercies “are new every morning”—morning by morning—on my spiritual journey with You (Lamentations 3:23). Yes, I know that the moment I gave my heart to You I became “a new creation” in Christ and “all thing (became) new” (2 Corinthians 5:17). This was so that I “might become the righteousness of God in (Christ)” (v. 21). But You never intended for me to stop there, to settle there. But to keep on pursuing You, keep on opening my heart to You, to keep on letting You form and shape my heart and my spirit in Your image. To “grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ” (Ephesians 4:15). So, like David, I want to have the heart in me that cries out to You, “Create in me a clean heart, O God. And renew a right spirit within me” (from Psalm 51:10). I want to be one who daily answers Your call, Your invitation, to keep opening my heart to You, as You keep renewing Your heart within me. Morning by Morning, August 21, 2026 — “By My Spirit” Good morning, Lord Jesus. My Lord and Savior, abide in me as I abide in You, here in the communion of prayer. … “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of hosts” (Zechariah 4:6). Thank You for Your Spirit who guides me and protects me and empowers me. Thank You for Your Spirit who draws me near to You and reminds me that You’re always near to me. Right here with me. Even right here within me. As You expressed to us through Your Apostle Paul, “Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). I am Yours. And You are mine. Remind me throughout the moments of my day that I belong to You, that I’m following You as You lead me Spirit to spirit, Heart to heart, Deep calling unto deep. Whatever good I’m able to do in my world today, I know it will be by You abiding in me—not by my might, nor by my power, but by Your Spirit, my Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Morning by Morning, August 20, 2026 — Calling on the Name of the Lord Good morning, Lord Jesus. I speak out Your name and press in to Your Presence and listen up for Your leading. … When I speak out Your name I’m calling on the name of the Lord, I’m expressing my heart and my faith in You. I’m directing my attention to the One who is greater, to the One who is God, to the One who is my All in All. And I’m remembering the promise of Your Word: “The same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on Him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved’” (Romans 10:12-13 NIV). By Your mercy and grace, in Your power and love, You save me from hell and You save me from myself. You save me from sickness and disease, from strongholds and spiritual attacks. You save me “to the uttermost”—“Therefore He is able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through (Jesus Christ), since He always lives to make intercession for them” (Hebrews 7:25). So I begin my prayer today, as I do every day, speaking out Your name, calling upon Your name. And now being excited and expectant to see how You will respond, how You will lead, how You will be my All in All, right now and all day long, For You are my Lord and You are Lord of all. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged this day. Morning by Morning, August 18, 2026 — “Under the Shadow of the Almighty”

 

Morning by Morning, August 18, 2026 — “Under the Shadow of the Almighty” Good morning, Lord Jesus. My Rock and Refuge, my Shelter and Savior, I look to You and call on Your name to begin my day intentionally in communion with You—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. … This morning You’re bringing to mind the promises of Psalm 91, promises for all who find their shelter in You: “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust’” (Psalm 91:1-2). As I pray Your Word and speak out loud the phrase of this verse, “under the shadow of the Almighty,” an image comes to mind of Your hand over the life of one who is trusting in You. With the eyes of my heart, that “shadow of the Almighty” is a shadow created by Your shelter, Your protection and safety, Your shielding and security. Lord, I put my trust in You. I seek to dwell in You, to abide in You, safe and secure in You. You are the place of my protection and provision. You’re the Source of all I need. You stretch out Your hand to cover me in Your shadow. Here in the place of Your Presence, You deliver me from the plans and schemes of my spiritual enemy. You cover me and protect me from pestilence and destruction, from fears and attacks from whatever source (v. 3-6). Here under Your shadow, no evil can befall me nor plague come near me. You give Your angels charge over me and all You’ve entrusted to me in my family and relationships, in every place You’ve positioned me and every task You’ve entrusted to me. In all my ways, You will keep me on the right path and in the refuge of Your will (v. 7-13). Here in the secret place of the Most High, I embrace all Your promises and blessings, Your hand of protection and favor over me and every area of my life, according to Your Word. Personalizing the final verses of blessing of this Psalm You put in my heart today, I declare Your Word in faith: “Because I have set my love upon You, therefore You will deliver me; You will set me on high, because I have known Your name. I shall call upon You, and You will answer me; You will be with me in trouble; You will deliver me and honor me. With long life You will satisfy me, And show me Your salvation” (v. 14-16 personalized). Thank You for Your hand over my life, as I seek to live my life under the shadow of the Almighty. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged this day.
