Morning by Morning, December 1, 2025 – “Think On These Things” Good morning, Lord Jesus. Draw me near. Help me hear. I’m watching and waiting for Your leading (John 10:27). ... “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things” (Philippians 4:8 KJV). By the power of Your grace, I can choose what to “think on.”  I can “think on” negative things or positive things. I can “think on” destructive things are constructive things, discouraging things or hopeful things. I can “think on” things that make me mad or things that make me glad. Things that are false, unjust, unholy, ugly, and of bad report. Or things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of good report. The choice is mine. And Your Word tells me what to choose. Your Spirit empowers me to choose well. To choose well and to “think on” these things is not to stick my head in the sand in the bliss of ignorance about all the other things. But it’s choosing by an act of my will to first “think on” what is good and right and true. To give priority and preference to those things, not letting the other things dominate my thinking, control my attitude, or cloud my perspective. I believe it’s part of what Your Word means, that “we have the mind of Christ” (1 Corinthians 2:16). With this mind, with this mindset, worry does not rule, fear does not reign, evil does not prevail. No, my God reigns and fills my mind with good things.  Fill my mind with good things, Lord. Remind me of Your power to redeem all things, to cause even bad things to work out and work together for good in my life. Put Your thoughts in my mind as I willingly, deliberately, intentionally choose to “seek those things which are above” and “set (my) mind on things above” (Colossians 3:1-2). Then first and foremost, I will “think on” these things You set as the priority of the things that will form and shape my attitude and my perspective for my day. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Morning by Morning, November 28, 2025 – Many “Black Fridays” but Only One “Good Friday”   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Help me begin my day thankful and expectant. ...   In America, we called today “Black Friday” for all the good sales to kick off the shopping season the day after Thanksgiving. Many even get up extra early or even campout to get the best deals before they’re snatched up by somebody else. Some of our species go shopping; some watch football; some get back to work.   There’s lots of Black Fridays. They come around once a year. But there’s only one Good Friday. It only came once.   We may remember it once a year. But there was only day so different from every other day that marked and changed our eternity:   “By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all” (Hebrews 10:10).   “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace” (Ephesians 1:7).   So as we move on from Thanksgiving Day, through Black Friday and Cyber Monday and all the other days between this day and the One to come when You return to set all things right here on Earth as it is in Heaven, let us not forget “Good Friday.” We call it “Good” because it’s the day You set things right in us—in the heart and life of all who put their hope and trust in You alone (John 3:16). Morning by Morning, November 26, 2025 – “Enter His Gates with Thanksgiving”   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Let my spirit arise, as I seek You and wait upon Your leading to start my day embraced by my Father, centered in Christ, and filled with the Holy Spirit. ...   “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name” (Psalm 110:4).   Like many Americans across our nation, I’m on my way home for Thanksgiving—home to my mother’s house. Home for a few days enjoy family and friends, to laugh and eat a lot, to reconnect but also to pick up right where we left off.   At the same time, I know not everybody gets to go home. Not everybody wants to go home. For many connecting home with Thanksgiving is hard to imagine.   But that’s all the more reason to remember that Thanksgiving is not primarily about us. It’s about You.   From the first one until today, it has always been about You. You and Your provision, You and Your Presence, through hardships and heartaches. It’s about turning to You when our hearts of full of joy and also turning to You when it feels like we’ve got nothing left inside.   Thanksgiving is an attitude of the heart, a perspective of our thoughts. And it’s an attitude and a perspective we can choose.   This day, I choose to thank You, to praise You, to acknowledge You and all Your provision, always with me in Your Presence, whether full or empty. And by the grace of God, not just this day, but every day. Every day let this be my attitude to You. Remind me that thanksgiving and praise honors You, but it also changes me. Thanksgiving lifts my up in my spirit to come into communion with Your Spirit. It’s a means of Your grace to enter into Your gates, to come into Your courts, where no matter what’s going on in my world or my world inside, nothing can take my joy or steal my peace unless I let it.   And why would I let it? When I have the power to choose—to choose to be thankful. To choose to remember all I have to be thankful for, starting with Your great love for me, no matter what.   “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. His love endures forever!” (Psalm 131:1 NIV) In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today.
