Morning by Morning, January 26, 2026 — Both the Beauty and the Burden of the “Snow from Heaven” Good morning, Lord Jesus. I watch and wait for Your leading to begin my day grounded in Your Word and filled with Your Spirit. ... “For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater, So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:10-11). As I wake up this morning, much of our nation is still covered in snow and ice. Some see the beauty, while others suffer under the burden. At its Source, the rain and the snow come down from You as part of Your creation to provide needed resources in their time and for their purposes on our behalf. But in our broken and fallen world, ever in desperate need of Your redemption, even the beauty of Your creation can be turned against us as creation itself groans under the burden of fallen nature and fallen mankind. “For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now” (Romans 8:22). “For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God” until “creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption” (v. 19-21). “But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance” (v. 25). The wind and the waters of the sea had purposes in their creation, yet there was a time when You rebuked them to halt their destruction and restore Your peace (Mark 4:39). And as with Your first disciples, You call us to arise in faith to trust in You through the suffering and struggles when creation itself burdens our lives (v. 40). So as I join with my neighbors in praying through this time of struggle in our nation, give us that right heart and right perspective to both see Your beauty in Your creation, even as we trust in You and overcome the burdens, for ourselves and our neighbors. And through it all, let both the beauty and the burdens point us back to the One who is the Source of every good thing in our lives and to the One who is always sending forth Your word for our good, like the rain that comes down with snow from heaven. Morning by Morning, January 21, 2026 — The “Preeminence” of Christ Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be high and lifted up, here in my heart and life and every moment of my day. ... “That in all things He may have the preeminence” (Colossians 1:18). Your Word says You have “preeminence” in all things. You’re to be first in everything, with supremacy, authority, majesty, and priority. Help me keep You first in my life, Lord. Not just as I look up to You, draw near to You, and speak out my welcoming greeting to You in these first moments of my morning, but also throughout every moment of my day. Yours is the name above every name (Philippians 2:9). And Yours is the nature You want to form in the heart and life of every person who will call on Your name, embrace Your Spirit abiding in us, giving You first place, giving You “preeminence” in our lives. “(We) are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in (us). Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His” (Romans 8:9). So come, “be lifted up” in my heart, my life, and every moment of my day in the place of preeminence in me and in my world. For You are “the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last” (Revelation 22:13). You are “Lord of all” and first of all (Acts 10:36). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Morning by Morning, January 20, 2026 — Seek and See “The Image of the Invisible God” Good morning, Lord Jesus. I welcome You here in my heart and every moment of my life. ... “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence” (Colossians 1:15-18). You are “the image of the invisible God.” As You said to Phillip, “He who has seen Me has seen the Father.... Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me” (John 14:9-11). For You are One with the Father, One with the Holy Spirit, and You invite us to be one with You, abiding in You as You abide in us (John 17:23). You still invite us, “Come and see” (John 1:39). You invite us to seek You with eyes of our hearts to see You made manifest in us and through us as Your followers and disciples (Colossians 1:27). Lord, purify my heart, stir in my heart to seek You, to see You, to see You moving in me and in all who follow You. “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God” (Matthew 5:8). Blessed are they whose hearts belong to You, whose hearts are open to You, whose hearts seek You: “But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone” that we might live for You (Hebrews 2:9)—“the image of the invisible God.” In Jesus’ name I pray. Morning by Morning, January 19, 2026 — God Fills the Temple of Hearts Dedicated to Him Good morning, Lord Jesus. I seek Your face to begin my day embraced by my Father, centered in Christ, and filled with Your Holy Spirit. ... As I wait for Your leading, the image of the temple of Solomon comes to find, being filled with the glory of the Lord upon its dedication: “Then the word of the Lord came to Solomon, saying: ‘Concerning this temple which you are building, if you walk in My statutes, execute My judgments, keep all My commandments, and walk in them, then I will perform My word with you, which I spoke to your father David. And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake My people Israel.’ So Solomon built the temple and finished it” (1 Kings 6:11-14). “And it came to pass, when the priests came out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of the Lord, so that the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud; for the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord. “Then Solomon spoke: “The Lord said He would dwell in the dark cloud. I have surely built You an exalted house, And a place for You to dwell in forever” (1 Kings 8:10-13). Our bodies are now Your temple (1 Corinthians 6:19). Our hearts are now Your dwelling place (Hebrews 3:6). You no longer dwell in temples of stone made by men, You live in us—in every heart open to You, seeking You, drawing near to you (Acts 17:27). You dwell in us, “Christ in (us), the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). Let Your glory fill my heart today, as I seek You, draw near to You, and embrace Your Presence here in my heart. Just like the priests of the temple could not stand in Your Presence, I can no longer stand in my own strength apart from You. As You said, “Without Me, you can do nothing” (John 15:5). By the power of Your grace and the mercy of Your love, I’m never without You. You’re always abiding in me and I in You (John 15:4). Like Solomon dedicated the temple to You, I dedicate my heart to You. Come fill Your temple, Lord. Fulfill Your Word in me now and every moment of my day, that I may ‘know the love of Christ which passes knowledge that (I) may be filled with all the fullness of God” (Ephesians 3:19).
