Morning by Morning, August 12, 2026 — Thirsty and Dry for What Only God Can Satisfy Good morning, Lord Jesus. Take me by the hand and lead me by Your Spirit, as I arise and go with You on the journey of my day. … “For I will pour water on the thirsty land,    and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring,    and my blessing on your descendants. They will spring up like grass in a meadow,    like poplar trees by flowing streams” (Isaiah 44:3-4). We’re thirsty and dry for what only You can satisfy! Pour out Your Living Water, Lord. Pour our Your Holy Spirit, Father. We need a move of Your power and love, a move of Your mercy and grace. Where we’ve grown weary and tired, where our hope has been deferred, where we’ve been tempted to settle for something far less than Your promises and purposes for our lives, awaken us and revive us. “Revive us again!” (Psalm 85:6) As I’m stirred to pray, I hear back in my heart Your prophetic invitation that’s never changed: “Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters!” (Isaiah 55:1) “For waters shall burst forth in the wilderness, And streams in the desert” (Isaiah 35:6). In surrender, we come to the waters. In desperate faith, we come to waters. In fervent, awakening prayer for all You are to us, for all You have for us, and all You desire to do through us, we come to the waters! And we believe by faith, Your waters are coming to us. Your flowing streams of living water are coming to us—into every desert and wilderness place in our hearts and in our land. Just as You said: “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled!” (Matthew 5:6) In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged this day. Morning by Morning, August 11, 2025 — “Train Up a Child” Good morning, Lord Jesus. King of kings and Lord of lords, come rule and reign in my heart and through my life today. Come lead me now as I begin my day from the communion of prayer with You. … “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6). As The Message version expresses this: “Point your kids in the right direction—when they’re old they won’t be lost.” Sunday evening, we gathered to pray with parents, teachers, students, pastors, leaders, and people from our community with a heart for our children at each of our local schools in Fredericksburg, Texas. One of the Scriptures we prayed was this one from the Proverbs. And then Monday morning, the Fredericksburg Independent School District led off their district wide staff meeting with this very message from the Word of God to be their “Verse of the Year” for our public school system! Praise God! Thank You for the Judeo-Christian roots of our nation and the biblical principles undergirding our foundation and continuing today in its advancing. There is hope. And there is a heart that still beats for You in our land, despite every battle we face for the soul of our nation. Our freedom of expression of faith is one of our God-given “unalienable rights” entrusted to us. May we never take these rights for granted. May we never shrink back from living into the freedom You’ve granted us, with both the responsibility and authority You’ve entrusted to us. Thank You for the godly men and women who are seeking You and Your Word to be their Guiding Light and North Star for training up our children in the way they should go. In our schools, in our homes, in our churches, and in every sphere of influence You called us and positioned us, may we trust in You and teach our children to trust in You. As we “train up” our children, may we also keep allowing You to “train up” our own hearts and minds in the way we should go. And going to You, seeking You, trusting You, depending upon You is “the way (we) should go.” For ultimately, You are “the Way and the Truth and the Life” (John 14:6). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged this day. Morning by Morning, August 10, 2026 — Back to School Prayer

 

Morning by Morning, August 10, 2026 — Back to School Prayer Good morning, Lord Jesus. From the communion of prayer, I’m waiting for Your leading. …   “Then (Jesus) took a little child and set him in the midst of them. And when He had taken him in His arms, He said to them, ‘Whoever receives one of these little children in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me, receives not Me but Him who sent Me’” (Mark 9:36-37). I was honored to help lead in prayer yesterday evening, as we went school to school throughout our community to pray at the beginning of this new school year in our community of Fredericksburg, Texas. “Teachers, parents, students, pastors, leaders, and those who just have a big heart for children came to pray in the religious freedom we’re blessed to have in Texas (Texas Constitution, Article I, § 6), lifting up each campus in the name of Jesus.”   Lord Jesus, take our children in Your arms and hold them in Your heart. Be a Shield about them and the Glory of God within them (Psalm 3:3; Zechariah 2:5). Keep them safe and secure “in the secret place of the Most High” and “under the Shadow of the Almighty” as You “give (Your) angels charge over (them) (Psalm 91:1-16).   Father God, their true Father, You’ve entrusted these children of a generation to us to watch over and love, to guide and direct. May You watch over them and train them up in the way they should go according to Your ways and Your will in their lives (Proverbs 22:6). Holy Spirit, may You fill their hearts and guide their steps (Ephesians 5:18), confident in Your unfailing love (John 3:16). For the children of God are led by the Spirit of God (Romans 8:14). May each child know Your mercy and love and come to know You as Savior and Lord, along with every one of their families at home (Acts 16:31). May they be kept secure in their true identity in You and fulfill Your true destiny for each one of them in all the good plans You have for them—“to give (them) a future and a hope” on the path You’ve prepared for them (Jeremiah 29:11).   May their teachers have wisdom, their protectors have courage, their leaders have character, their friends have loyalty. May their hearts be filled with a love of learning all that is pure and right and true, with discernment to know anything that is not. May they be “taught of the Lord” so that “great shall be the peace of (our) children” (Isaiah 54:13). May those who know You and come to know You carry Your light and love in their hearts as salt and light into every classroom and across every campus (Matthew 5:13-16). May they be “ambassadors for Christ” and expressions of the love of God everywhere they go and with everyone they encounter (2 Corinthians 5:20). May they grow in wisdom and stature, in favor with God and man (Luke 2:52), growing from faith to faith and grace upon grace (Romans 1:17; John 1:16). May they “grow up in all things into Him who is the Head (Ephesians 4:15), into Christlikeness (1 John 4:17), into the image of the Son of God (Romans 8:29).   By the grace of God, we entrust our children to You, for our “children are a heritage from the Lord” (Psalm 127:3). We even boldly pray that their hearts and their campuses experience Your revival fire, as You set them ablaze with a fresh passion for You in a great awakening of the Presence of God in their midst this year! (Acts 2:1-4)   Over these precious and beloved children of our community, and over all those who are entrusted to love them and lead them, we declare:   “The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; The Lord life up His countenance upon you and give you peace” (Numbers 6:24-26). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged this day. Morning by Morning, August 7, 2026 — A Father’s Blessing

 

Morning by Morning, August 7, 2026 — A Father’s Blessing Good morning, Lord Jesus. You and our Father and Holy Spirit are One, abiding in me as I abide in You, in the communion of life I have in You as a son of God. … “What great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” (1 John 3:1) Last night I was invited to join with other men for a time of fellowship and prayer out at our local park. My youngest son, Josiah, was in town visiting us and he wanted to go. At the end, the group leader invited Josiah to come stand among us, as we laid hands on him and prayed blessings over him. When it was my turn, I was moved by Your Spirit to speak a father’s blessing over him, as I asked him to look me in the eyes and listen for our Father’s words. As I spoke what Your Spirit gave me to say in those moments, I was reminding him of the meaning of his name: Josiah—meaning The Fire of the Lord. May the Fire of God burn in his heart all the days of his life. Benjamin—meaning Son of My Right Hand, speaking of the right hand of authority. May he be a man of God, seeking to live his life under the authority of the hand of God, as the Lord his God stretches out His hand of authority through his life in the unique ways the Lord will choose, all in His time, all in His way. Hays—meaning he is my son, carrying my name, but much more importantly, he is a son of God, created and called by his True Father in Heaven. Freed to live his life freely from any of my own personal desires for his life but fully into all God’s personal desires for his life. You reminded me of one his struggles, which is also being redeemed into one of his great blessings. He can think in ways he thinks is conflicting, with skepticism. But I saw with the eyes of my heart two swords, and the biblical phrase that “Iron sharpens iron” from Proverbs 27:17. You are using his conflicting thoughts to sharpen his discernment and teach him how search for the truth, at a much deeper level than most do. And when he finds it, he will know from the depths of his heart what is true, firmly established in unwavering faith, because he’ll be grounded in Your Word and filled with Your Spirit. No longer conflicted but certain. Not because somebody else told him or taught him, but because You brought him to know the truth for himself. Thank You, Lord, for Your Father’s blessing over each of us. What great love You have lavished upon us, Father God. Just as You spoke over Jesus at his baptism, so You with Your same Spirit over us: “You are My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” (Mark 1:11). That was before Jesus ever spoke His first sermon or worked His first miracle. You affirmed Your love and affirmed His identity as a Son, affirming Your pleasure in Him not based on what He would do but who He was. You do the same for us. You love us no matter what, because we are Your sons and daughters through Jesus Christ our Lord. We’ll make our mistakes and have our regrets, as we seek to find our way, coming to understand our true identity in You and then fulfilling our destiny in You. But You’ll be with us through it all, loving us through it all, blessing us with Your Father’s Blessing with Your Father Heart through it all. Freely we receive, and freely we can give. Thank You for the joy and blessing of getting to speak a father’s blessing over my son last night. And thank You for the Father’s Blessing You speak over each of us to receive from Your Heart: “This is the way you shall bless the children of Israel. Say to them: “The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.” “So they shall put My name on the children of Israel, and I will bless them” (Numbers 6:23-27). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged this day.
