Morning by Morning, February 5 - "Follow Me"

Good morning, Lord Jesus. I behold You, as You take hold of me to lead me in the way that leads to life in You today.  ...

I listen for Your leading, I hear You singing a song in my spirit this morning. ...

Follow Me
Where I will lead
You will never need
For all you'll ever need
Is always here in Me
So come and follow Me

Lord, I will follow You
I give my all to You
For all You've brought me through
When there was nothing I could do
But put all my trust in You
So I'll come and follow You

With Me you'll see
You're never alone
With Me you'll know
You're My very own

Come walk with Me
Come hear My voice
Abide in Me
In My peace and joy forevermore

Yes, Lord. "You show me the path of life. In Your Presence there is fullness of joy; in Your right hand are pleasures forevermore" (Psalm 16:11). As You said long ago You continue to say every day, "My sheep hear My voice. I know them, and they follow Me. I give them eternal life and they will never perish. No one will snatch them out of My hand" (John 10:27-28).

Thank You for the gift of grace to seek Your face and listen for Your voice to arise in my spirit and follow You each day. Thank You for Your daily invitation to walk with You, to abide in You, and to live in Your peace and joy at the beginning of my day, throughout the moments of my day, and forevermore. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

Morning by Morning, February 2 - Growing in Grace

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Help me hear Your heart and let my heart be one with Yours--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God.  ...

"In accordance with His promise, we wait for a new heavens and a new earth, where righteousness is at home. Therefore, beloved, while you are waiting for these things, strive to be found by Him at peace, without spot or blemish; and regard the patience of our Lord as salvation.... Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen" (2 Peter 3:13-18).

Help me keep growing in grace today. Show me where I'm not a peace within my soul, where I'm not yet without spot or blemish, where righteousness is not yet fully at home here in my heart....

I don't have to wait very long for the answer or look very deep for some hidden secret sin. I'm aware of my struggles and so are You. And at the same time, You help me to be just as aware of Your grace and the power of Your love that never leaves me as I am but always empowers me to keep growing in grace everyday of my spiritual journey with You, as I "pursue righteousness and a godly life" (1 Timothy 6:11 NLT).

Thank You for the promise of how You see me, even as I journey to spiritual maturity in You:  "There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ has set (me) free from the law of sin and death" so that now I can embrace Your grace to "walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.... (I am) not in the flesh; (I am) in the Spirit, since the Spirit of God dwells in (me).... for if (I) live according to the flesh, (I) will die; but if by the Spirit (I) put to death the deeds of the body, (I) will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God" (Romans 8:1-14).

I keep growing in grace all by the power of Your Spirit at work within me, "for God is working in (me), giving (me) the desire and the power to do what please Him" (Philippians 2:13 NLT). As best as I can and all by Your grace--morning by morning, moment by moment, step by step, and choice by choice--"(I) must grow up in every way into Him who is the head, into Christ" (Ephesians 4:15).

Your will for me and for all who are called by Your name is that we would come "to maturity, the measure of the full stature of Christ"--to Christ-like-ness (Ephesians 4:13). "For this is the will of God, (our) sanctification" (1 Thessalonians 4:3).

As You are, so are we in this world; as You are, so are we to become, as we keep growing in grace (1 John 4:17). So in the mystery of faith and the power of Your grace, Your Word is forever true:  "For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God" (2 Corinthians 5:21). Growing in grace, that in You we might become those who can grow to know that "righteousness is at home" in our hearts--not by what we've done, but all by what You've done for us and by what You're doing within us (2 Peter 3:13). In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

M friend, I pray you keep growing in grace every day, growing up in spiritual maturity into Him who is our head, into he full measure of the stature of Christ, as best as you can and all by His grace at work within you, in Jesus' name! Please pray the same for meGod bless you, my friend!

Morning by Morning, February 1 - "Re-joyed" 24/7

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Guide my heart and guide my steps as I look and listen for Your leading today.  ...

"They brought in the ark of God, and set it inside the tent that David had pitched for it; and they offered burnt offerings and offerings of well-being.... He appointed certain of the Levites as ministers before the ark of the Lord, to invoke, to thank, and to praise the Lord, the God of Israel.... Then on that day David first appointed the singing of praises to the Lord by Asaph and his kindred:  O give thanks to the Lord, call on His name, make known His deeds among the peoples. Sing to Him, sing praise to Him, tell of His wonderful works. Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. Seek the Lord and His strength, seek His Presence continually!" (1 Chronicles 16:1-11)

The first Psalms sung out from the tabernacle of David were songs of thanksgiving and praise, of Your glory and power, with the promise that all who seek You and Your strength and Your Presence would rejoice forever in their hearts. For 24/7 they lifted up their praises in worship and prayer to You and for 24/7 You poured Your peace and Your joy into their hearts. As they rejoiced, they were continually "re-joyed"--"re-joyed" 24/7.

"Re-joy" me every day, Lord. Rebuild the tabernacle of David in me each day (Amos 9:11; Acts 15:16). Let my heart by Your tabernacle. Let the ark of God be the continual Presence of God by Your Word and Your Spirit here in my heart. Let me begin every day lifting up my praises to You in worship and prayer and then continue 24/7 in the spirit to Spirit and deep unto Deep of constant communion with You, as I abide in You and You abide in me (John 15:4).

As I'm "re-joyed," the joy of the Lord will be my strength (Nehemiah 8:10). And as I live out the moments of my day--"re-joyed" 24/7, I will know and embrace Your promise to me that "in Your Presence there is fullness of joy; in Your right hand are pleasures forevermore!" (Psalm 16:11)  In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My friend, I pray you are "re-joyed" 24/7, abiding in the Lord as He abides you, praising him from the tabernacle of your heart in worship prayer throughout the moments of your day, in Jesus' name! Please pray the same of meGod bless you, my friend!

Morning by Morning, January 31 - Presidential Proclamation:  "In God We Trust"

Good morning, Lord Jesus. I speak out Your name and listen for Your voice as I worship and wait in the communion of prayer.  ...

"For God alone my soul waits in silence, for my hope is from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. On God rests my deliverance and my honor; my mighty rock, my refuge is in God. Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us" (Psalm 62:5-8).

Last night at the President's State of the Union Address, he declared the motto of our nation is "In God we trust." Regardless of political persuasion, love him or hate him, his presidential proclamations from his position of governmental authority have spiritual significance for our nation. "First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be made for everyone, for kings and all who are in high positions, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity" (1 Timothy 2:1-2).

May the motto of our nation become an authentic expression of the people of my land, in humility and honor, in faithfulness and obedience before You, O God. "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He has chosen as His own inheritance. The Lord looks from heaven; He sees all the sons of men. From the place of His dwelling He looks on all the inhabitants of the earth; He fashions their heart individually; He considers all their works. No king is saved by the multitude of an army; a mighty man is not delivered by strength. A horse is a vain hope for safety; neither shall it deliver any by its great strength. Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him, on those who hope in His mercy, to deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield. For our heart shall rejoice in Him, because we have trusted in His holy name. Let Your mercy, O Lord, be upon us, just as we hope in You" (Psalm 33:12-22 NKJV).

And Lord, let the motto of our nation be the motto of my heart. By grace and in faith, may I trust in You and Your holy name. Forgive me for when I'm tempted to trust in myself or anything less than Your will as my destiny and Your Word as my authority. Give me a holy fear of the Lord to honor You and a holy love of the Lord to trust You. For me and for my nation, may You always be "our help and our shield," for in God we trust. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My friend, I pray you trust in the Lord with all your heart, leaning not on your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledging Him and trusting His to direct your paths--for you and for your nation, in Jesus' name! Please pray the same of meGod bless you, my friend!

Morning by Morning, January 30 - "You Feed Them"

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Put Your thoughts in my mind and Your desires in my heart to lead me in Your ways today.  ...

"Late in the afternoon (Jesus') disciples came to Him and said, 'This is a remote place, and it's already getting late. Send the crowds away so they can go to the nearby farms and villages and buy something to eat.' But Jesus said, 'You feed them.' 'With what?' they asked. 'We'd have to work for months to earn enough money to buy food for all these people!' 'How much bread do you have?' He asked, 'Go and find out.' They came back and reported, 'We have five loaves of bread and two fish.' Then Jesus told the disciples to have the people sit down in groups on the green grass. So they sat down in groups of fifty or a hundred. Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, He kept giving the bread to the disciples so they could distribute it to the people. He also divided the fish for everyone to share. They all ate as much as they wanted, and afterward, the disciples picked up twelve baskets of leftover bread and fish. A total of 5,000 men and their families were fed" (Mark 6:35-4 NLT).

When You said to Your first disciples, "You feed them," You never intended for them to do the work of ministry alone or apart from You. They needed one another and they needed You. And at the same time, You never intended to feed the people and do the work of ministry Yourself apart from them. You fed the people through them--by Your power through their service--not just by Your power alone and not just through their service alone, but by Your power and through their service working together in the ministry of Your power and love.

And so You continue Your ministry today--by Your power and through our service. We are the "body of Christ" (1 Corinthians 12:17). We have the "Spirit of Christ" within us (Romans 8:9). And together, we continue the "ministry of Christ" (Romans 16:3). It's not by our power, but by Yours. You still send us to "go feed them"--to go feed the "Bread of Life" we all desperately need and You passionately long to give though all who would go in Your name to serve Your people in Your power and love (John 6:35). In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

Tommy, I pray you are filled afresh everyday with the Spirit of Christ to go and serve and share the Bread of Life in the power of Christ to those in your life who desperately need it, in Jesus' name! Please pray the same of meGod bless you, my friend!

Morning by Morning, January 29 - I Have "Everything Needed"

Good morning, Lord Jesus. I welcome You here at the start of my day and at the center of all I do and say in every experience and encounter that will follow throughout the rest of it.  ...

"His divine power has given us everything needed for life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness. Thus He has given us, through these things, His precious and very great promises, so that through them you may escape from the corruption that is in the world because of lust, and may become participants of the divine nature" (2 Peter 1:3-4).

You're already given me everything needed to live my life today in the godliness You desire. It's all by Your divine power, at work within me to know what is right, to will what is right, and to do what is right. "For God is working in (me), giving (me) the desire and the power to do what pleases Him" (Philippians 2:13 NLT). As You spoke in a word of encouragement through one of Your prophets to one who was called for Your purposes long ago, "Not by (your) might, nor by (your) power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of hosts" (Zechariah 4:6).

Come, Holy Spirit. You encourage me and empower me to take hold of these "very great and precious promises" of God. I don't have to figure it all out myself or make it all happen in my wisdom or power. You've already provided "everything needed." My part is to believe it and humble myself to willingly choose to be desperately dependent upon You alone, O Lord, my God--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of the Living God who falls afresh on me each day. As I do, I live into to my identity and destiny as one of Your children, one of Your "participants of the divine nature." In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My friend, I pray you embrace the Spirit of the Living God, falling up you and rising up within you, to empower you and remind you that you already have "everything needed" to live your life today in godliness for God's glory, in Jesus' name! Please pray the same of meGod bless you, my friend!

Morning by Morning, January 26 - Come Awaken and Arise and Shine through Me!

Good morning Lord Jesus. I'm alive and free, come awaken and arise and shine through me!  ...

Yes, Lord. I hear these words of some kind of declaration stirring in my spirit....

I'm alive and free,
Come awaken and arise and shine through me.
No holding back, no turning aside,
It's time to saddle up and ride!
You fill my heart with purpose and passion,
You set me ablaze and call me to action.
Your Kingdom come, Your will be done;
Here in my heart and in everyone.
It's no time to slumber; it's no time to wait;
It's time to get moving for Your Kingdom's sake.
Arise and shine, for my Light has come,
Through the victory of Your cross, my battles are won.
In the power of Your grace I'm free every day,
To live every promise the Word of God says.
With strength for today and hope for tomorrow,
I'm filled with Your joy; no more sadness or sorrow.
Make way for the King here in my heart,
Make way for His Kingdom wherever you are.
There's a new day dawning and the best is yet to come,
Let's not waste another minute to go tell everyone.
I'm alive and free,
Come awaken and arise in me!

Yes, Lord. Let it be so! "For it is the God who said, 'Let light shine out of darkness,' who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ" (2 Corinthians 4:6).

Fulfill in us this prophecy and promise of Your Word:  "Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. For darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the Lord will arise upon you, and His glory will appear over you. Nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.... Then you shall see and be radiant; your heart shall thrill and rejoice!" (Isaiah 60:1-50) In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My friend, I pray you will awaken and arise and let the glory of the Lord shine through you with purpose and passion, living every promise of His Word through your life, in Jesus' name! Please pray the same of meGod bless you, my friend!
