Set Free from the Crippling, Silencing, Shaming Spirits of This Age - October 29, 2020

Morning by Morning, October 29 - Set Free from the Crippling, Silencing, Shaming Spirits of This Age

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Let Your Word and Your Spirit arise in my heart as I seek to begin my day embraced by my Father, centered in Christ, and filled with the Holy Spirit. ...

"Now He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And just then there appeared a woman with a spirit that had crippled her for eighteen years. She was bent over and was quite unable to stand up straight. When Jesus saw her, He called her over and said, 'Woman, you are set free from your ailment.' When He laid His hands on her, immediately she stood up straight and began praising God! But the leader of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had cured on the sabbath, kept saying to the crowd, 'There are six days on which work ought to be done; come on those days and be cured, and not on the sabbath day.' But the Lord answered him and said, 'You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger, and lead it away to give it water? And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen long years, be set free from this bondage on the sabbath day?' When He said this, all His opponents were put to shame; and the entire crowd was rejoicing at all the wonderful things that He was doing" (Luke 13:10-17).

Like this woman, this "daughter of Abraham" under the Covenant of God, there are spirits who try to cripple the Body of Christ. There are spirits of intimidation, oppression, and persecution who constantly come against Your people -- to keep them "bent over" and "unable to stand." They would keep Your people who are called by Your name bowed down, hidden away, silenced and unseen, while they try to push their agendas and advance their kingdom. They love to voice their indignation and loudly express their paternalistic disapproval, all in the name of their own self-righteousness.

But You have come to set the captives free! You have come to awaken our spirit and lift up Your Body, that we can stand up straight, boldly praising our God! "For (we are) not ashamed of the Gospel; it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who has faith!" (Romans 1:16).

Let the "hypocrites" be "put to shame" and their selective indignation be exposed for all it is. By the power of Your grace, we will arise and we will rejoice "at all the wonderful things" You are doing in our day!

Let the crippling, silencing, shaming spirits of this age be broken off and cast away from the Body of Christ in the mighty name of Jesus! These are our days to arise and shine, with the Light of Your glory arising and shining through us! (Isaiah 60:1-3)

"Everything exposed by the Light becomes visible, 'for everything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, 'Sleeper awake! Rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you! ... Be filled with the Spirit, as you sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, singing and making melody to the Lord in your hearts, giving thanks to God the Father at all times and for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!" (Ephesians 5:13-20) In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My friend, may you be set free from everything that would try to cripple you, silence you, or shame you, that the Gospel may live large in you and through your life, in Jesus name. Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

Preaching in Pakistan Today through our Skype Internet Ministry.
Friends, please keep us in prayer this morning (Thursday Night in Pakistan). If the weather permits, I will be preaching another one of our outdoor evangelistic meetings in Pakistan through our Skype Internet Ministry. Each month, I am preaching in different villages around Lahore, Pakistan in the Punjab Region. Through our team there with Pastor Rizwan Fazal, we set up a tent or facility with a big screen, projector, interpreter, and prayer team for a live evangelistic outreach. We follow up with prayer ministry and discipleship. Thank you to all my friends who pray for us and support us to make this ministry possible each month! God bless you!

"And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come!" (Matthew 24:14)

Build on the Rock Before the Storm - October 28, 2020

Morning by Morning, October 28 - Build on the Rock Before the Storm

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Good Shepherd of my soul, lead me step by step along the journey of my day. ...

"'Everyone then who hears these words of Mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on rock. And everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell -- and great was its fall!' Now when Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were astounded at His teaching, for He taught them as one having authority, and not as their scribes" (Matthew 7:24-29).

Lord, give me discernment to hear Your words and wisdom to act on them in faith. Give me humility to embrace Your authority and courage to stand firm and follow through in trusting obedience.

It's wisdom to build my house before the storm. And it's wisdom to build my house on rock. What is the "rock"? ...

As I wait and listen, it seems I hear in my heart: "Your relationship with Me is your rock. You build your relationship with Me when you seek Me in prayer, when you honor Me in worship, when you obey Me in faith." ...

Yes, Lord. And what is the "sand"? ...

I believe You're saying in my heart: "The sand is depending on your own strength, your own wisdom, your own ways apart from My ways. It may seem fine at first, but it will not withstand the storms. Only what's built on the rock can withstand the storms. And there will always be storms -- some more severe than others. But you can withstand any storm as you hold fast to your relationship with Me. Those who are wise will build thier relationship with Me before the storms. Those who are foolish will not. And they will not withstand the storms."

Yes, Lord. Draw me near. Hold me close. Help me hear. Teach me to learn to discern Your voice and trust Your ways. When I look back and see all the storms we've weathered together, I know I'd be foolish to waste a day of not seeking to draw closer in relationship with You.

You draw near to those who seek to draw near to You (John 15:4; James 4:8). By the power of Your grace, may I draw nearer to You every day. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My friend, may you draw nearer to Jesus, steadily building your relationship with Him every day, that you may withstand every storm that comes your way, in Jesus name. Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

"Ride On Victoriously, O King!" - October 27, 2020

Morning by Morning, October 27 - "Ride On Victoriously, O King!"

Good morning, Lord Jesus. You are the King of kings and Lord of lords. Come rule and reign in my life and throughout my land. ...

"Gird Your sword on Your thigh, O Mighty One,
    in Your glory and majesty.
In Your majesty ride on victoriously
for the cause of truth and to defend the right!" (Psalm 45:3-4)

You are riding on victoriously, O King!

You are putting into positions of authority and power those who will fight for the cause of truth, who will defend what is right. You are contending for the heart and soul of a nation returning to You.

More, Lord! More of Your presence. More of Your power. And more of Your people who will stand up and speak out for what is true and what is right. More of Your warriors and mighty ones, Your sons and daughters, Your faithful disciples  who will not back down in the face of intimidation, who will never surrender and never retreat before the enemies of the cross and the righteousness of our God. Your righteousness exalts a nation. Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne. And You are retaking Your place on the throne of our nation from Your throne in our hearts.

These are days of political polarization, of daily clashes of right and left, of the ways of God and the ways of the world. But You are making the distinctions more clear every day. There's little room left to stand in the middle, to settle for the lukewarm, to hide away in the gray areas of compromise and complacency, just going alone to try to get along in appeasement of those in direct opposition to Your principles and Your ways.

Gird up Your sword, O Mighty One! Ride on victoriously, O King of kings! For the battle belongs to the Lord! "Your arrows are sharp in the heart of the King's enemies! ... Your throne, O God, endures forever and ever! ... You love righteousness and hate wickedness! ... In the place of ancestors You, O King, shall have sons (and daughters); You will make them princes (and princesses) in all the earth. (We) will cause Your name to be celebrated in all generations; therefore the people will praise You forever and ever! (Psalm 45:5-17) In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My friend,  may you see our victorious King ride on in His righteousness in your heart and your land, in Jesus name. Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

"Rest Secure" in God - October 26, 2020

Morning by Morning, October 26 - "Rest Secure" in God

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Help me begin my day embraced by my Father, centered in Christ, and filled with Your Holy Spirit. ...

"I bless the Lord who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me. I keep the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my soul rejoices; my body also rests secure. For You do not give me up to Sheol, or let your faithful one see the Pit. You show me the path of life. In Your presence there is fullness of joy; in Your right hand are pleasures forevermore" (Psalm 16:7-11).

You invite me to rest secure in You. You invite me to trust You -- to trust that You are with me, that You uphold me, that You instruct me and counsel me, that You protect and defend me, that You speak up and stand up for me, that You'll never leave me nor forsake me. And when I do, no matter what I go through, You make my heart glad, You make my soul rejoice, and You fill me with the fullness of joy.

So why would I ever want to lean on my own understanding? Why would I ever try to handle my struggles in my own wisdom or try to fight my battles in my own strength? (Proverbs 3:5-6) The truth is "Apart from (You), I can do nothing" (John 15:5). But "blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made their Lord their hope and confidence" (Jeremiah 17:7 NLT). "Those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint" (Isaiah 40:31 NLT).

Some may trust in horses; some may trust in chariots -- trusting in the strength and wisdom of ourselves -- but I will trust in the name of my God (Psalm 20:7). I will trust in the One in whom I can "rest secure." By the power of Your grace, help me trust in You and rest secure in You today. As I do, no matter what I go through, I know You will keep me "in perfect peace," with my heart and mind fixed on You (Isaiah 26:3). In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My Friend,  may you rest secure in the Lord our God, fully trusting him Him alone for all you need and all He desires, in Jesus name. Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!

"The People Who Know Their God" will "Stand Firm and Take Action" with "Great Exploits" - October 23, 2020

Morning by Morning, October 23 - "The People Who Know Their God" will "Stand Firm and Take Action" with "Great Exploits"

Good morning, Lord Jesus. I welcome You here in my heart and every moment of my day -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirt of God. ...

"Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits" (Daniel 11:32 NKJV). "He shall seduce with intrigue those who violate the covenant; but the people who are loyal to their God shall stand firm and take action" (NRSV).

Daniel spoke of the days of spiritual battle to come. Many of his words have come to pass at various levels of prophetic fulfillment, and yet some are reserved for ultimate fulfillment at "the time of the end" (Daniel 11:40 and 12:9). And certainly our days are days filled with spiritual battles of aggressive wickedness against the Covenant of God, filled and fueled with corruption, flattery, intrigue, seeking to deceive and ensnare even the people of the Covenant of God.

But in the face of the battles and in the midst of the darkness, those who "who know their God," those "who are loyal to their God," "shall be strong and carry out great exploits;" they "shall stand firm and take action!"

If we are to be strong and stand firm in these dark days, we must know our God in deeper intimacy. We must be determined to persevere in loyalty to our God and in faithfulness to the Covenant of our God. Not in our power, not in our strength. Not in our wisdom, not in our plans. But only in the power of Your Spirit, standing firm in Your Word, will we prevail. Yet not only prevail, but also overcome and advance with "great exploits" by authority in the name of our God in our words and the nature and character of our God in our hearts as our witness!

Through these battles, "some of the wise will fall victim to persecution" (Daniel 11:35). But even then, "they will be refined and cleansed and made pure until the time of the end, for the appointed time is still to come" (v 11:35 NLT). Even in the midst of the darkness, in the face of the onslaught of wickedness and deception in rejection of the Covenant of God and the persecution of the people of God, "Those who are wise will shine as bright as the sky, and those who lead many to righteousness will shine like the stars forever!" (Daniel 12:3). At "the time of the end," at the height of intensity of these spiritual battles, "Many will be purified, cleansed, and refined by these trials" even though "the wicked will continue in their wickedness, and none of them will understand" (v. 12:9-10).

Come, Holy Spirit! Come purify us, cleanse us, and refine us through these trials we face and persecution we endure. Draw us nearer to You, in deeper intimacy with You -- our Father God, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit of the Living God. May we be a people who know their God, knowing both the truth of Your Word and the power of Your Spirit. May we stand firm and take action! May we do great exploits in the power of Your name, with Your nature being formed in our hearts! And may we lead many to righteousness, as You continue to establish Your righteousness in us! As we go through these times of the end in all the spiritual battles we face, may we "Arise (and) shine; for (our) Light has come, for the glory of the Lord has risen upon (us)!" (Isaiah 60:1) In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

My friend, may you drawn into deeper intimacy with God, knowing the truth of His Word and the power of His Spirit, as you stand firm and take action through these days of spiritual battle, in Jesus name. Please pray the same for me. God bless you, my friend!
