“That the World May Know” through the Witness of Our Love - February 22, 2023

 

Morning by Morning, February 22 - “That the World May Know” through the Witness of Our Love   Good morning, Lord Jesus. One with the Father, One with the Holy Spirit, be One within me. ...   That’s just as You expressed as Your heart’s desire before You laid down Your life on the Cross for every one of us:   “As You, Father, are in Me and I am in You, may they also be in Us, so that the world may believe that You have sent Me. The glory that You have given Me I have given them, so that they may be one, as We are One, I in them and You in Me, that they may become completely one, so that the world may know that You have sent Me and have loved them even as You have loved Me” (John 17:21-23). ...   In our oneness with You and oneness with one another, in the oneness of that kind of bond of the unity of love that the world can’t understand, there is a witness to a world desperately hungry for that kind of love that it doesn’t even realize. But “that the world may know” that You are the very expression of the love of God and that Your love is for all, You unite us with You -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God -- and You unite us with one another as a true witness like no other.   Our greatest witness is our love. Even before preaching and teaching the truth, even before standing firm in the authority of our convictions, even before the demonstrations of Your power through the gifts of Your Spirit, our greatest witness to a weary and hungry and thirsty world in desperate need of a Savior is our love. Just as You said:   “I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:33).   As The Message version of Scripture expresses in such everyday language:   “My beloved friends, let us continue to love each other since love comes from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and experiences a relationship with God. The person who refuses to love doesn’t know the first thing about God, because God is love--so you can’t know Him if you don’t love. This is how God showed His love for us: God sent His only Son into the world so we might live through Him. This is the kind of love we are talking about--not that we once upon a time loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as a Sacrifice to clear away our sins and the damage they’ve done to our relationship with God.   “My dear, dear friends, if God loved us like this, we certainly ought to love each other. No one has seen God, ever. But if we love one another, God dwells deeply within us, and his love becomes complete in us--perfect love!” (1 John 4:7-12 The Message).   Lord, let me be Your witness today--a witness of Your love “that the world may know” that You love them and laid down Your life for them that each one of them may know the love of God You have for them. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today! “Fan into Flame” - February 21, 2021

 

Morning by Morning, February 21 - “Fan into Flame”   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Help me begin this day embraced by my Father, centered in Christ, and filled with the Holy Spirit. ...   “Fan into the flame the Gift of God, which is in you” (2 Timothy 1:6).   Holy Spirit, You are the Gift of God, which is in me. You’re the very Presence of the Living God, here within me and within every son and daughter of God who’s opened their heart to let You in.   “Or do (we) not know that (our) body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within (us), whom (we) have from God?” (1 Corinthians 6:19) “(We) are not in the flesh; (we) are in the Spirit, since the Spirit of God dwells in (us)” (Romans 8:9).   Be fanned into flame, Holy Spirit of God. Burn in my heart, as I carry the Fire of Your Presence with me everywhere I go. Let the Life of Your Spirit bring the Life of God to all who’d touch with Your Flame through me. Give me a deeper understanding and greater revelation of all that it means to carry Your Presence and give away the Gift of God that’s in my heart. As The Message version expresses this revelation of Truth:   “If God Himself has taken up residence in (my) life, (I) can hardly be thinking more of (myself) than of Him. Anyone, of course, who has not welcomed this invisible but clearly present God, the Spirit of Christ, won’t know what we’re talking about. But for (us) who welcome Him, in whom He dwells--even though (we) still experience all the limitations of sin--(we ourselves) experience life on God’s terms. It stands to reason, doesn’t it, that if the alive-and-present God who raised Jesus from the dead moves into (my) life, He’ll do the same thing in (me) that He did in Jesus, bringing (me) alive to Himself? When God lives and breathes in (me)--and He does, as surely as He did in Jesus--(I am) delivered from that dead life. With His Spirit living in (me), (my) body will be as alive as Christ’s! (Romans 8:9-11 The Message)   Flame of God, residing and abiding in me, let me be fanned into flame, set ablaze, to burn for You today. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today! Morning by Morning, February 17 - Awakening of a Desperate Hunger for the Heart of God   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Set my feet on the solid rock of Your Word, as I open my heart to hear the sure words of Your Spirit -- for the children of God are led by the Spirit of God (Romans 8:14). ...   There’s a desperate hunger for the heart of God that’s being released by the Spirit of God right now. What’s happening at Asbury and spreading like a wildfire of revival is a convergence of that desperate hunger with Your passionate love. And every heart that yearns to be there is turning to You and realizing You are here -- here wherever hungry hearts pursue the passionate love of God. The awakening at Asbury can be an awakening anywhere -- anywhere hungry hearts pursue the passionate love of God.   “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled” (Matthew 5:6).   “Ho, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters! (Isaiah 55:1)   “The water that I will give will become in them a spring of water gushing up to eternal life” (John 4:14).   “This is the bread which came down out of heaven; not as the fathers ate and died; he who eats this bread will live forever” (John 6:58).   “When you search for Me, you will find Me; if you seek Me with all your heart, I will let you find Me, says the Lord” (Jeremiah 29:13-14).   “This hope will not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us” (Romans 5:5).   I’m hungry for You, Lord. Hungry for Your Word, thirsty for Your Spirit -- desperately yearning for Your Presence. Make me hungrier still, thirstier still. I embrace this awakening of desperate hunger for the heart of God! In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today! “Uncontainable!" - Revival Fire Burning! - February 16, 2023

 

Morning by Morning, February 16 - “Uncontainable!" - Revival Fire Burning!   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Light of the World, let Your Light arise and shine in my heart and through my life today (John 8:12). ...   As I begin my time in the communion of prayer this morning, I hear in my heart this word: “Uncontainable!”   What immediately comes to mind is the revival that started at Asbury a week ago (in the little community of Wilmore, Kentucky, where I went to seminary and then lived and prayed and ministered for many years, before returning to Texas). Praise and worship, prayers and repentance, salvation and healing and freedom haven’t stopped since it began! And revival Fire is now spreading to college campuses and hungry hearts all across America! People are now coming from all across the nation and even from nations of the world to come and see what You are doing in our day!   And what I hear in my heart is “Uncontainable!”   Lord, let Your revival Fire be Uncontainable. Let this awakening of hearts and returning to God be Uncontainable. Let this renewed passion for the Love of God and for the Love of God to be released through our hearts and into our world be Uncontainable. Like a Holy Wildfire burning through hearts, burning through complacency, burning through false religion, burning through phony faith, burning through everything that would try to contain the love and power and Presence of God, this Fire is Uncontainable!   “For indeed our God is a Consuming Fire!” (Hebrews 12:29) As The Message version declares, “For God is not an indifferent bystander. He’s actively cleaning house, torching all that needs to burn, and He won’t quit until it’s all cleansed. God Himself is Fire!” As The Passion Translation proclaims, “For our God is a holy, devouring Fire!”   Yes, Lord. Holy. Devouring. Consuming. Cleansing. Uncontainable Fire!   Heaven and Earth can’t contain You. As King Solomon declared as the glory of Your Manifest Presence filled Your temple, “Even Heaven and the highest Heaven can’t contain You” (1 Kings 8:27).  And neither will anything contain You or restrain You for all You’ve purposed in Your heart to do in our hearts and across our land and throughout the world in these exciting days to be alive and be revived! In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today!
