Morning by Morning, April 1, 2026 – Called to Be Loyal, Not Betrayal Good morning, Lord Jesus. I seek You and follow You in communion with You. ... “Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread drew near, which is called Passover. And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might kill (Jesus), for they feared the people. “Then Satan entered Judas, surnamed Iscariot, who was numbered among the twelve. So he went his way and conferred with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray Him to them. And they were glad, and agreed to give him money. So he promised and sought opportunity to betray Him to them in the absence of the multitude” (Luke 22:1-6). Judas betrayed You. In doing so, he fulfilled yet another of the ancient messianic prophecies written long ago about these days during the Holy Week of Your death, burial, and resurrection: “Even my own familiar friend in whom I trusted, Who ate my bread, Has lifted up his heel against me” (Psalm 41:9). It was not just Judas in his flesh, but also the spirit of Satan that entered him that led him to betray You. Not just Judas. Not just Satan. But Satan through Judas betrayed You. Lord, search my heart by Your Spirit. Where am I tempted to betray You, to fail to honor You, to turn against You, to withdraw from acknowledging You and my relationship with You. Where have I failed before? Guard my heart from failing again. Peter said he never would (Matthew 26:33). But he did. The same with the other disciples. “All this was done that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook Him and fled” (Matthew 26:56). Was their betrayal any less than Judas’? Is mine? Fill me with Your Spirit now and always before the day of temptation comes. Allow me the power of Your grace to be found faithful in the day of temptation, no matter the pressures or temptations of any circumstances I may face (1 Corinthians 4:1-3). Rather than giving in to the spirit of betrayal, may I be faithful to be loyal. May I honor Your faithfulness and loyalty and sacrifice for me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today! Morning by Morning, March 31, 2026 — Cleansing the Temple of Our Hearts Good morning, Lord Jesus. I seek You and follow You along Your steps through this Holy Week. ... “Then (Jesus) went into the temple and began to drive out those who bought and sold in it, saying to them, ‘It is written, ‘My house is a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’ “And He was teaching daily in the temple. But the chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people sought to destroy Him, and were unable to do anything; for all the people were very attentive to hear Him” (Luke 19:45-47). That temple in Jerusalem was a temple of stone, but the temple of our hearts is a temple of spirit. And those who seek to worship You—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God—must worship in spirit and truth. “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth” (John 4:24). “Or do (we) not know that (our) body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in (us), whom (we) have from God, and (we) are not our own?” (1 Corinthians 6:19) Lord, let my heart be a house of prayer. Cleanse my heart from everything that would try to steal Your place. This place of communion with You is not bought or sold, but embraced as a free gift of God. But the gift must be received. And this gift is to be cherished as precious and priceless, worth more than anything in the world. Like with the chief priests, the scribes, and the religious leaders of the day, this kind of spiritual intimacy makes “religious” people uncomfortable and unsettled. These are “religious” in the sense of focusing on the rules instead of relationship as the priority, rather than allowing their intimate, spiritual relationship with You to lead them to desire what is right and to do what is right. They oppose You and all who seek to draw near to You in a depth of spiritual intimacy they can’t understand and even fear. So let me be one who is “attentive to hear (You)” and passionately pursuing You. Cleanse the temple of my heart every day, as I seek to worship You in spirit and truth. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Morning by Morning, March 30, 2026 — The Time of Visitation Good morning, Lord Jesus. Take me by my heart and lead me by Your Spirit into all You have for me today. ... “Now as (Jesus) drew near, He saw the city (of Jerusalem) and wept over it, saying, ‘If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the things that make for your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side, and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the time of your visitation’” (Luke 18:41-44). The people of Jerusalem “did not know the time of (their) visitation.” And the One who came to save them and lay down His life in sacrifice for them that they might know His eternal peace wept for them. They missed the time of their visitation. History records that about forty years later, Your prophetic words came to pass. The temple of the city of Jerusalem was leveled to the ground, without one stone left upon another. Let us not miss the time of our visitation. Let us embrace the One who is our Peace. Let us honor Your sacrifice of love, as You poured out Your blood at the Cross that we could be forgiven of our sins and filled with Your peace in our hearts. Abide in my heart today and every day, Lord Jesus. Every day is my time of visitation. You are with me always (Matthew 28:20). Your Holy Spirit abides in my human spirit—Spirit to spirit, Heart to heart, Deep to deep (Romans 8:9). And from that place in my heart, give me Your heart to pray for all You weep over today who do not yet know Your peace. May Your mercy and love no longer be hidden from their eyes, as they turn their eyes upon You and open their hearts to You. You are “longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today! Morning by Morning, March 27, 2026 — Jesus Was Determined to Fulfill His Destiny Good morning, Lord Jesus. Put Your thoughts in my mind and Your desires in my heart, as I seek to intentionally, deliberately begin my day in communion with You—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. ... Next week will be Holy Week, when Christians around the world will remember the days of Your journey to the Cross. Your journey to Your physical death is now our journey to everlasting life (John 3:16). And this morning, I’m reminded of Your determination to fulfill Your destiny: “Now it came to pass, when the time had come for Him to be received up, that He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem” (Luke 9:51). You were fulfilling one of the many Messianic prophecies declared beforehand of all You would live out on the days of Your journey through Your rejection, betrayal, beating, crucifixion, death, burial, and resurrection: “I gave My back to those who struck Me, And My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard; I did not hide My face from shame and spitting. For the Lord God will help Me; Therefore I will not be disgraced; Therefore I have set My face like a flint, And I know that I will not be ashamed” (Isaiah 50:6-7). No one took Your life. You willingly chose to lay down Your life—for me and for all who entrust themselves to You in thanksgiving for all You’ve done for us. As You declared in Your determination to do this for us, with Your face set like flint, steadfast in Your desire to journey to Jerusalem, knowing all that waited for You there: “As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.... “Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father” (John 10:15-18). Thank You, Lord Jesus, for Your steadfast love, for Your determination, for Your sacrifice that cost You more than we can even imagine. As I prepare my heart to follow Your journey through that Holy Week, may I take time to contemplate and appreciate all You’ve done and all You are: “Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:2). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today!
