Morning by Morning, June 20, 2025 - A “Wall of Fire All Around” Her and “the Glory” of God Within Her
Good morning, Lord Jesus. Help me hear Your heart, as I begin my day grounded in Your Word and filled with Your Spirit—Father, Son and Holy Spirit of God. ...
The news speaks of “ballistic missiles raining down on Israel” and that her city of “Tel Aviv is in ruins.” But the world’s news leads me to the Good News of Your Word that always speaks a Word of Your heart and Your will for that land ultimately prevailing, though suffering through so much.
Your Word of a “Wall of Fire” around Israel’s capitol city and “the apple of (Your) eye” comes to mind this morning in the midst of the war and terror taking place:
“And I (the Prophet Zechariah) lifted my eyes and saw, and behold, a man with a measuring line in his hand! Then I said, ‘Where are you going?’ And he said to me, ‘To measure Jerusalem, to see what is its width and what is its length.’ And behold, the angel who talked with me came forward, and another angel came forward to meet him and said to him, ‘Run, say to that young man, ‘Jerusalem shall be inhabited as villages without walls, because of the multitude of people and livestock in it. And I will be to her a Wall of Fire all around, declares the Lord, and I will be the Glory in her midst.’
“Up! Up! Flee from the land of the north, declares the Lord. For I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heavens, declares the Lord. Up! Escape to Zion, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon. For thus said the Lord of hosts, after His glory sent me to the nations who plundered you, for He who touches you touches the apple of His eye: ‘Behold, I will shake My hand over them, and they shall become plunder for those who served them. Then you will know that the Lord of Hosts has sent me.
“Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion, for behold, I come and I will dwell in your midst, declares the Lord. And many nations shall join themselves to the Lord in that day, and shall be My people. And I will dwell in your midst, and you shall know that the Lord of Hosts has sent me to you. And the Lord will inherit Judah as His portion in the Holy Land, and will again choose Jerusalem.
“Be silent, all flesh, before the Lord, for He Has roused Himself from His holy dwelling” (Zechariah 2:1-13).
As I read Your Word, I don’t fully understand all its applications and timing. But I do know every Word of God, whether spoken or written by the Spirit of God, will be fulfilled. For Your Word will not return to You empty or void, but will accomplish every purpose of Your will in Your time and in Your way (Isaiah 55:11). “Heaven and earth will pass away, but (Your) Words will not pass away” (Matthew 24:35).
So in all that’s going on in our world right now, in the Middle East and beyond, I pray You would draw all people to You, even redeeming the fear of terror, the insecurity and instability of wars and rumors of wars. I pray You would be a “Wall of Fire” all around and the “Glory” of Your manifest Presence within the people who are “the apple of (Your) eye” and all people who would call upon Your name to be their Security and Hope. In Jesus’ name I pray.
