Steadfast, Immovable, Unshaken - March 9, 2022

 

Morning by Morning, March 9 - Steadfast, Immovable, Unshaken   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Help me hear Your voice and know Your heart, as I begin my day looking to You (John 10:23). ...   “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us give thanks, by which we offer to God an acceptable worship with reverence and awe” (Hebrews 12:28).   As I listen and wait for Your leading, I believe I hear You speaking in my heart:   “I am the King of a kingdom that cannot be shaken. So for all who turn their hearts to Me, putting their trust and faith in Me, allowing Me to rule and reign in them, they shall not be shaken. They shall be steadfast, immovable, unshaken. Come, I say, and put your trust in Me.” ...   Yes, Lord. The written Word that immediately comes to mind in confirmation of Your spoken word is from Jeremiah 17:   “Blessed are those who trust in the Lord,     whose trust is the Lord. They shall be like a tree planted by water,     sending out its roots by the stream. It shall not fear when heat comes,     and its leaves shall stay green; in the year of drought it is not anxious,     and it does not cease to bear fruit” (Jeremiah 17:7-8).   Through the heat and drought, through the confusion and chaos, through the wars and rumors of war, “those who trust in (You), whose trust is the Lord” shall not be moved, shall not be shaken, but shall continue to flourish and bear fruit.   Steadfast, immoveable, unshaken. It’s because we abide in the One who is steadfast, immovable, unshaken in us. “Anyone united to the Lord becomes one spirit with Him” (1 Corinthians 6:17).   Your kingdom is not of this world (John 18:36). But Your kingdom is in us as we put our trust in You, as we are united with You in one spirit with You. As You have said, “the kingdom of God is within (us)” (Luke 17:21 NKJV). And that kingdom is an everlasting kingdom that shall not pass away (Daniel 7:14). In fact, there will come a day when even “the kingdoms of this world (will) have become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, and (You) shall reign forever and ever” (Revelation 11:15).   Come rule and reign in me now, King Jesus (Revelation 19:16). Let Your kingdom be established firmly in me now and in all who put their trust in You, that we shall not be moved, that we shall be steadfast, immovable, unshaken. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today! Not Afraid for We are Not Alone - March 8, 2022

 

Morning by Morning, March 8 - Not Afraid for We are Not Alone   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Live in me; live through me--this day and every day (Colossians 1:27). ...   “‘I will not leave you orphaned; I am coming to you. In a little while the world will no longer see Me, but you will see Me; because I live, you also will live. On that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. They who have My commandments and keep them are those who love Me; and those who love Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love them and reveal Myself to them.’ Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, ‘Lord, how is it that You will reveal Yourself to us, and not to the world?’ Jesus answered him, ‘Those who love Me will keep My word, and My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make Our home with them’” (John 14:18-23).   We’re not left “orphaned” or alone. Because You live, we also live. You live in us by Your Spirit within us--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. When we are in Christ and Christ is in us, our heart is Your “home.”   This is not a gift “the world” has received. This is a gift of God only we receive, when we receive Your Holy Spirit in our human spirit, when we entrust our lives to You to come live Your life through us. As You said of the Promise of Your Presence through the Presence of Your Spirit:   “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate, to be with you forever. This is the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. You know Him, because He abides with you, and He will be in you” (John 14:15-17).   You are in us; and we are in You. That’s what gives us our peace no matter what’s going on in our world. Just as You spoke these words of hope and help, of encouragement and empowerment to Your first disciples before You returned to heaven, so You speak to us today as Your disciples today, as You return from heaven and into our hearts, as we give our hearts to You:   “I have said these things to you while I am still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you everything, and remind you of all that I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid” (John 14:25-27).   We’re not afraid because we’re not alone. You are with us; You are within us--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. You’ll never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). As Your Word assures us from long ago and forevermore, we can “be strong and bold; (having) no fear or dread ... because it is the Lord (our) God who goes with (us); He will not fail (us) or forsake (us)” (Deuteronomy 31:6). Just as You promised, as You ascended and returned to heaven, before sending Your Spirit into our hearts, “Remember, I AM with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today! Volunteers on the Day of Battle - March 7, 2022

 

Morning by Morning, March 7 - Volunteers on the Day of Battle   Good morning, Lord Jesus. King of kings and Lord of lords, come rule and reign in my heart and every moment of my day. ...   “Your people shall be volunteers in the day of Your power; in the beauties of holiness, from the womb of the morning, You have the dew of Your youth” (Psalm 110:3 NKJV).   I saw that over one hundred thousand Ukrainians from around the world have returned to fight for their homeland -- volunteers in the day of battle.   In some ways, the battle for the soul of Ukraine is a prophetic picture of the battle for the soul of the earth. At times the constant shelling of all we hold dear is unbearable, while the seemingly indiscriminate bombing of the innocent is unthinkable. At times the odds seem overwhelming and victory, or even a return to some form of peace, seems hopeless.   But Your Word encourages us: “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4 NKJV). And Your Words encourage us: “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).   Lord Jesus, we look to You--for the people of Ukraine and for ourselves as the children of God, called by Your name throughout the earth and chosen to live out our lives and our calling through these times. By the stirring of the Holy Spirit within us, we volunteer freely on the day of battle. And this is the day of battle--the day of battle for our souls and for the soul of the world.   After the witness of the courage of the Ukrainian people, give us Your courage to fight the battles before us--“strong and very courageous” (Joshua 1:7). Put Your weapons in our hands and Your words in our mouths, with Your Spirit stirring in our hearts. “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds” (2 Corinthians 10:4).   Armed with Your spiritual weapons and clothed in Your spiritual armor, may we run to the battle and volunteer willingly to take our place and make our stand in You, just as Your Word commands:   “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.   Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints” (Ephesians 6:10-18). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today! Crying Out to the God of Justice - March 4, 2022

 

Morning by Morning, March 4 - Crying Out to the God of Justice Good morning, Lord Jesus. Lead my heart, guide my steps -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. ... “Then Jesus told them a parable about their need to pray always and not to lose heart. He said, ‘In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor had respect for people. In that city there was a widow who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Grant me justice against my opponent.’ For a while he refused; but later he said to himself, ‘Though I have no fear of God and no respect for anyone, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will grant her justice, so that she may not wear me out by continually coming.’ And the Lord said, ‘Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God grant justice to His chosen ones who cry to Him day and night? Will He delay long in helping them? I tell you, He will quickly grant justice to them. And yet, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on earth?’” (Luke 18:1-8). I join my heart and my prayers with Your “chosen ones” who are crying out to You “day and night” for justice -- whether from tyrannical aggression in Kyiv or human trafficking in Houston, whether from silencing the voice of freedom in Ottawa or the murder of unborn children in their mothers’ wombs in New York. Even among those who are called by Your name, we may disagree about what is just and right and true. But to You, it is clear. To You, there is only one truth and only one right way. “Righteousness and truth are the foundation of Your throne” (Psalm 89:14). You are “the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning” (James 1:17). You alone are righteous in all Your ways (Psalm 145:17). You alone are called “Faithful and True” and You alone are “called The Word of God” (Revelation 19:11-13). For You alone are “the Way and the Truth and the Life” (John 14:6). So we seek You. We passionately pursue You. We implore You to put Your thoughts in our minds and Your desires in our hearts, so that Your ways become our ways and Your will becomes our will (Romans 8:29). And from that place of humility and prayer, as those who do fear God and seek to have respect for all people, we do cry out to You, God of justice, God of righteousness. O God, come and set things right -- here in our hearts and here in our world, here at home and to the ends of the earth.  Expose the “works of darkness” (Ephesians 5:11). Let the Light of Your glory push back the darkness, for the darkness cannot overcome the light (John 1:5). And by the grace of God, let Your light shine in us and shine through us and shine through our prayers in agreement with Your heart. “For once (we) were darkness, but now in the Lord (we) are light. (May we now) live as children of light--for the fruit of the light is found in all that is good and right and true” (Ephesians 5:8-9). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today!
