“Unfailing Love” of God - May 2, 2024

 

Morning by Morning, May 2 - “Unfailing Love” of God   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Put Your thoughts in my mind and Your desires in my heart, as I seek Your face and listen for the leading of Your voice (John 10:27). ...   The Word of the Lord through the Prophet Hosea comes to mind this morning:   “Therefore, I am now going to allure her; I will lead her into the wilderness and speak tenderly to her” (Hosea 2:14).   You were speaking of Your unfailing love. Even though Your people had rejected Your love and compromised their faith and even though they had turned to false gods and false idols instead of turning to You, You still loved them. You still pursued them. You even brought them into a place of “wilderness” through what they would suffer as the consequences of their choices so they could hear You “speak tenderly” to their hearts, so they could turn their hearts to You again.   Much of the Book of this prophet is about Your calling to Hosea to be faithful and steadfast in unfailing love for his unfaithful wife as a prophetic picture of Your mercy and love for Your people. Despite the actions of Hosea’s wife and despite the actions of Your people, You always offered them “a door of hope” if they would return to You (Hosea 2:15).   You said to Your people there would come a day of redemption and restoration, of forgiveness and mercy, despite all their sin and rebellion--not because they deserved it, but because You loved them and never stopped loving them no matter what. You said:   “I will make you My wife forever,     showing you righteousness and justice,     unfailing love and compassion. I will be faithful to you and make you Mine,     and you will finally know Me as the Lord” (Hosea 2:19-20 NLT).   And these are Your words of unfailing love for every one of us, drawing us into Your heart and covenant of love for each of us. These are Your words for everyone whom You put on our hearts in our lives, praying they would come to know Your unfailing love for each of us--“For God so loved the world ...” (John 3:16).   Keep turning my heart to You, Lord. Keep showing me Your “unfailing love and compassion,” when I don’t deserve it or fail to appreciate it. And I pray the same for the hearts of those I know who are running away from You, who are resisting You, who question and doubt You, who have not yet come to fully know You and Your “unfailing love and compassion” for them.   “Let Your unfailing love surround us, Lord, for our hope is in You alone” (Psalm 33:22). “Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds” (Psalm 36:5). “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:22-23). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today. Alive in Christ by the Spirit of Christ in Us - May 1, 2024

 

Morning by Morning, May 1 - Alive in Christ by the Spirit of Christ in Us   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Take me by the heart and lead me by Your Spirit into all You have for me today--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God” (Romans 8:14). ...   “But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you” (Romans 8:9-11).   By Your mercy and love, by the power of Your grace and compassion of Your will that all who would turn to You and trust in You would be saved in You, I do know I “have the Spirit of Christ” living in me (v. 9). “Indeed the Spirit of God dwells in (me)” (v. 9). “The Spirit of Him who raised Christ from the dead dwells in (me)” (v. 11).   Lord, let these Truths be sealed in my spirit and confirmed in the mind of my soul. Help me see You and see myself with Your Spiritual perspective--now and as I go through the moments and challenges and opportunities of my day. As I mediate on Your Word and welcome Your Spirit to bring Your Word to life in me now, I’m looking at how The Message version of this Scripture brings these Words to life:   “But if God Himself has taken up residence in your life, you can hardly be thinking more of yourself than of Him. Anyone, of course, who has not welcomed this invisible but clearly present God, the Spirit of Christ, won’t know what we’re talking about. But for you who welcome Him, in whom He dwells--even though you still experience all the limitations of sin--you yourself experience life on God’s terms. It stands to reason, doesn’t it, that if the alive-and-present God who raised Jesus from the dead moves into your life, He’ll do the same thing in you that he did in Jesus, bringing you alive to Himself? When God lives and breathes in you (and He does, as surely as He did in Jesus), you are delivered from that dead life. With His Spirit living in you, your body will be as alive as Christ’s!” (Romans 8:9-11 The Message).   I’m alive in Christ! For the Spirit of Christ lives in me and everyone who has put their faith and hope and trust in You--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. And I receive Your invitation and the power of Your grace to live out this day and all of my life from Your perspective of Spirit and Truth. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today. How To Dwell in “The Secret Place” and “Abide Under the Shadow of the Almighty” - April 30, 2024

 

Morning by Morning, April 30 - How To Dwell in “The Secret Place” and “Abide Under the Shadow of the Almighty”   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be at the center of my heart and in the middle of every moment of my day. ...   “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust’” (Psalm 91:1-2).   Show me how to dwell in Your secret place. Teach me how to abide under Your shadow. Help me believe undoubtedly and to know unwaveringly that You are my Refuge and my Fortress, my God in whom I trust. ...   As I wait for the leading of Your Holy Spirit to bring Your Word to life to me today, these words come into my spirit and rise up to my mind:   “Ask and you will receive. Seek and you will find. Knock and the door will be opened to you.” ...   Yes, Lord. I know these words. I haven’t read them in a while, but as I search for them in Your Word, I find them in the Gospel of Matthew:   “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened” (Matthew 7:7-8).   And these words are followed by words to encourage me not to doubt that You hear, not to doubt that You answer, but to trust that it is Your will and Your heart for me to ask and receive, to seek and find, to knock and see that the door will be opened:   “Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or is he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent. If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him” (Matthew 7:9-12).   These are Your Words, Lord Jesus. And what comes to me as Your Spirit is speaking Your Words into my spirit this morning is this:   “It’s good for you to ask. It’s good for you to pursue. It’s good for you to be expectant of My answer as you press into My Presence. I look at the heart. And for those who are hungry for Me and My Presence in their hearts, I embrace you and cover you and surround you in the love and power and shelter of My Presence. This is the secret place of My Presence. This is the shadow of the Almighty. This is how you allow Me to be your Refuge and your Fortress, as you trust in Me as your God.” ...   Yes, Lord. Another Word from Your Scripture comes immediately to mind to confirm what I believe is Your word in my heart:   “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled” (Matthew 5:6). And now this: “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Matthew 6:33).   I choose to receive this gift of Your grace. And by the power of Your grace, I choose to embrace this attitude of my heart, this perspective of my spirit, that I believe You’re speaking to me. These are keys of the kingdom of God, a means of Your grace, a way that leads to life in You--day by day, morning by morning, moment by moment--in my deeply personal relationship with You, as I consciously choose to abide in You and consciously choose to allow you to abide in me.   Lord, let it be so in me now and throughout the moments of my day--this day and every day. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today. Celebrating Our Personal Passover as We Apply the Blood of the Lamb to the Doorposts of Our Hearts - April 29, 2024

 

Morning by Morning, April 29 - Celebrating Our Personal Passover as We Apply the Blood of the Lamb to the Doorposts of Our Hearts   Good morning, Lord Jesus. I draw near to Your to listen for Your leading in these first moments of my day with You. ... “For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth” (1 Corinthians 5:7-8).   On the cycles of the Biblical calendar, the week of Passover, the Feast of Unleavened Bread, will end at sundown tonight. The first Passover was when the spirit of death passed over the homes of the people of Israel who had applied the blood of the lamb over their doorposts during the last plague upon Pharoah and Egypt, that he would finally let Your people go:   “Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel and said to them, ‘Pick out and take lambs for yourselves according to your families, and kill the Passover lamb. And you shall take a bunch of hyssop, dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and strike the lintel and the two doorposts with the blood that is in the basin. And none of you shall go out of the door of his house until morning. For the Lord will pass through to strike the Egyptians; and when He sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the Lord will pass over the door and not allow the destroyer to come into your houses to strike you. And you shall observe this thing as an ordinance for you and your sons forever’” (Exodus 12:21-24).   They were then commanded to keep this Feast of Unleavened Bread in remembrance of this Passover, remembering Your deliverance of Your people from out of Egypt with such haste that there was no time for the bread to leaven (Exodus 12:14-15). That Feast is now fulfilled in “Christ, our Passover Lamb” (1 Corinthians 5:6-8). In Christ, our Passover Lamb, we celebrate our deliverance from sin and death through the Blood of the Lamb and the cleansing of our souls from the leaven of sin (1 John 1:7).   You celebrated Your last Passover Meal of the Feast of Unleavened Bread when You gathered with Your disciples on the night You were betrayed and handed Yourself over to be crucified, dead, and buried for us (Luke 22:14-20). You were eternally destined to be for us “the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29).   So I do remember all You’ve done for us. I celebrate the first Passover and I celebrate every day of my personal Passover, when You caused death to pass over me and deliver me from the curse of the law of sin and death, as the Blood of the Lamb was applied to the doorposts of my heart:   “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death” (Romans 8:1-2).   Thank You, Lord Jesus, my Passover Lamb, my Lord and Savior, my Healer and Deliverer and Sanctifier of my soul! I celebrate the Feast by embracing the One has fulfilled it--forever fulfilled in Your Blood through the Sacrifice in Your Love for me and for every soul who would apply Your Blood to their hearts by saying Yes to Your Sacrifice. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today.
