Come with Trumpet Sound 7-28-10

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Your name is the name above every name. In these first moments of my morning, I bow down before You, worship and adore You, as I entrust my day to Your care. … “Make two silver trumpets; you shall make them of hammered work; and you shall use them for summoning the congregation, and for breaking camp” (Numbers 10:2). You led Israel through the wilderness by the cloud and fire of Your Presence (v. 9:15-23). And You spoke to their hearts to call them to come and align them as one by the sound of Your trumpets. At one sound, You called them to gather. At another sound, You sent them forth. They were to sound the trumpets when they were to assemble as a whole congregation (v. 10:3), when they were to come as a gathering of the leaders (v. 4), when they were to prepare for attack or set out in battle (v. 5-6), and when they rejoiced with thanksgiving and celebration for Your goodness and provision in their lives (v. 10). They were to know the sound of Your trumpets and immediately respond, following the leading of Your voice through the means You would choose. But those entrusted with the assignment to sound the trumpets at Your command had to be clear in the call they sent. And those called to respond had to be clear in their minds about the meaning of each distinctive sound of the call they heard. Otherwise, there would be confusion and chaos, instead of unity and order (1 Corinthians 14:7-8). We must learn to discern with clarity and precision the call of Your command in the ways You choose to assemble us, align us, and advance us in Your purposes and plans. Help us take the time now to be trained to respond to the sound of Your command. And then ultimately, one day we will be able hear and respond to Your “cry of command, with the archangel’s call and with the sound of (Your) trumpet” as You “descend from heaven” to gather us to Yourself, when You return in glory to restore all things (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17). “When He shall come with trumpet sound, O may I then in Him be found…. On Christ the solid Rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.” In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen. Be encouraged today!
