Wisdom and Honor through Humility

Good morning, Lord Jesus. King of Glory, I open my gates and welcome You in to my heart and my day. … “The ear that heeds wholesome admonition will lodge among the wise. Those who ignore instruction despise themselves, but those who heed admonition gain understanding. The fear of the Lord is instruction in wisdom, and humility goes before honor” (Proverbs 15:31-33). You honor those who humble themselves to hear Your words of correction in love and truth. You love to redeem our mistakes to make us healthier and wiser than before. You love to heal the bones that You have crushed to make us stronger than before. You love to shake everything that can be shaken so that only what can’t be shaken remains. To fully live in You, we must fully die to ourselves. To be honored by You, we must be willing to be humbled by You. It’s how You make us more like You each day in the spiritual journey of our lives (Hebrews 12:25-29). If we keep looking to You, trusting in You, the breakthrough is always worth the breaking; and the gold that’s refined is always worth the fire that refines. It’s never pleasant and often painful at the time, but it’s the way You hone our lives to be a useful instrument and mighty weopon in Your hands and to become the sons and daughters of God in whom You are well pleased. As in all things, Your life is our model: “In the days of His flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to the One who was able to save Him from death, and He learned obedience through what He suffered; and having been made perfect, He became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey Him, having been designated by God a high priest according to the order of Melchizedek” (Hebrews 5:7-9). Someone has said that knowledge comes from books, but wisdom comes from experience. Thank You for the experiences—both those full of joy and those full of pain—that makes us wise in Your ways, that allow us to become whom You created us to be. In the times of Your wholesome admonition, speaking the truth to us in love, it may seem like we’re being purged in a fire and facing the very fear of the Lord. But You’re always so faithful to go with us through the fire and to celebrate with us the joy of the Lord when we makes it through—always so much purer, freer, and wiser than before. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen. Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays Subscribe for free by email to me at Messiah Ministries: MessiahMin@aol.com -- "Preparing the Way of the Lord ...
