Morning by Morning, January 2, 2025 - “Let it Go” and “Lay Hold” Good morning, Lord Jesus. I seek You with all my heart, as I wait and listen for Your leading. ... What comes up from my spirit and into my mind are these words that one of our dear friends shared with us during our New Years Eve gathering of worship, prayer, and prophetic intercession: “Let it go.” ... Our friend John told a funny story about how he heard the words, but felt they just as easily could have come from Heaven. There are things from our past we have let go if we are to take hold of all You have for us now. And letting go is a choice. Just as hanging on is a choice. We need the power of Your grace to empower us to know and to make the right choice. And at the same time, the choice is ours. You provide all the wisdom and strength we need to choose according to Your lead, but we much make our choice. That’s our part, as we respond to Your part. The same Scriptures come to mind now that came to mind when John shared his prophetic word for the new year: “One thing I do: forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press forward to the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:13-14). “Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith...” (Hebrews 12:1-2). “I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me” (Philippians 3:12). “Lay hold of the hope set before us” (Hebrews 6:18). In response to Your prophetic words confirmed by Your Eternal Word, by the power of Your grace, I choose to respond. I choose to let it go. I choose to lay hold. I choose to press in and press forward to all that You have for me, “forgetting those things which are behind (so that they have no power over me to weigh me down or trip me up so that then) I press forward to the goal for prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” -- in every moment of every day in this new year You’ve set before me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
