Morning by Morning, January 7, 2025 - “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus” Good morning, Lord Jesus. I turn my eyes upon You. ... “Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord” (2 Corinthians 3:16-18). Spirit of the Lord, I welcome You here in my heart, here in these first moments of my morning. Lift my eyes to Jesus, as You remove every veil from eyes, from my heart, from any part of my being that would hide or distort my gaze into the glory of the Lord. As I look, as I listen, as I watch and wait in silent surrender, beholding the beauty of the glory of the Lord, You are transforming me, changing me—more and more every moment that I linger with my eyes fixed on Jesus. By the power of the grace of God, by the moving of the Spirit of the Lord, in this great mystery of faith, I am “being transformed into the same image from glory to glory.” “From glory to glory” means it’s a process, it’s a journey, step by step, moment by moment, morning by morning, as I keep my gaze looking upward to You, going forward with You in the “liberty” of the Spirit I have in You. Lord, have Your way in me today. Show me how to keep my gaze fixed on You, even as I rise up now to go about my day. Spirit of the Lord, keep turning my eyes upon Jesus. The words of the chorus of an old song of worship have been rising up in my heart from the moment I opened my journal and Your Word to pray: “Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in His wonderful face, And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, In the light of His glory and grace” Yes, Lord. In comparison to You, as I turn my eyes upon You, let all the things of the world grow strangely dim in the light of Your glory and grace. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
