"Seek First the Kingdom" - September 5

Good morning, Lord Jesus. You are the King of kings and Lord of lords; You are my King and my Lord. Rule and reign in my heart and life today. ...

"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33).

Before I seek my breakfast, I want to seek Your kingdom. Before I seek my car keys, I want to seek Your kingdom. Before I seek to take care of my needs and fulfill my desires, I want to seek Your kingdom. As I do, You bring me into Your righteousness - right relationship with God, right relationship with others, right relationship within myself.

To the degree that I entrust myself to You, seeking You and Your will above all else, Your kingdom comes and Your will is done. For Your kingdom is within me (Luke 17:21). Your kingdom of the dominion of the King; and everywhere I yield to and embrace Your dominion in my heart and life is the kingdom of God within me. It is my "Father's good pleasure to give (me) the kingdom" (Luke 12:32).

So I lift up my eyes and open up my heart, that the King of the kingdom of God may come in. As best as I can and all by Your grace, I bow down to Your will and hail You as my King in every area of my life. Change my heart and what I desire; change my mind and how I think, to make me more like You today. You are my King and I seek to seek You first. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

"By My Spirit" - September 4

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Let this day be a good day, because my good God is guiding my steps into all that You know is best for me. ...

"Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of hosts" (Zechariah 4:6).

The purposes of God can't be accomplished by mere human might and power. And whatever we do seem to accomplish in our own might and power should rightfully be questioned whether it was really the purposes of God or our own. Apart from You, we can do nothing (John 15:5). Apart from you, even our most righteous deeds are only filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6).

So, Lord, I don't want to be apart from You. I don't want to make my plans and make my choices to accomplish my own purposes in my own might and power. As best as I can and all by Your grace, I choose to be wholly surrendered and completely yielded to You and Your will. Help me begin and continue each day emptied of myself and filled with Your Spirit. When I fail, please be quick to restore me; when I misstep, please be quick to correct me. Don't let me waste a moment of these limited days You've entrusted to us to live and serve on this side of heaven (Matthew 25:21). In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

"I Love You, O Lord, my Strength" - September 3

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Your name is my first word. Your Presence is my first desire. Be with me now and throughout the moments of my day. ...

"I love You, O Lord, my strength" (Psalm 18:1).

David was a king and a warrior, a sinner and a saint, a prophet and a poet. At times his heart would sing and at times his heart would shatter. But he loved You, and he was not afraid or embarrassed to express his love for You. He wasn't afraid or embarrassed to express his doubt and his fears or his hurts and anger to You. He knew the power and the peace that comes when we lift up our eyes and open up our heart to You to be our Lord and our strength.

I love You, O Lord. You are my Lord and my strength. As best as I can and all by Your grace, I seek to put my whole trust in You. From this place, all the storms that come will only make me cling closer to the One who is my only secure refuge and rock. All the battles I engage will only make me more desperately dependent upon the One who empowers me to overcome. And all the questions and doubts that bombard my mind will only lead me to the One who is the correct and confident answer to them all (v.18:2-50). In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

Friends, I pray the Lord your love will be your strength thruogh every challenge that may come and that the One who loves you will hold you close and bring you through. Please pray the same for me, in Jesus' name.

Be empowered, equipped, and encouraged to fulfill your destiny in Christ!

All that I Have - August 30

Good morning, Lord Jesus. All that I am and all that I have I entrust to You. As best as I can and all by Your grace, I give my life to completely to You. ...

"Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said, 'You lack one thing; go, sell what you own, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow Me' " (Mark 10:21).

We were praying for each other around a little circle in a little church. We had just prayed over a woman full of the fire of the Lord who had endured more than most could bear. We were about to move on in prayer for the next person when I heard Your Holy Spirit speak to my heart, "Give her all you have in your pockets." It was so clear I couldn't even hesitate, and wouldn't dare in such a deep sense of the Presence of the Lord.

I thought I had put one of my larger notes of Euros in my pocket in case it was needed that morning. But as I put the contents of my pockets into her hands, explaining why, I was very surprised to see that I had put all my personal money and all my ministry money for the trip in my pocket that morning! But it was way too late to start wavering in faith, second-guessing, and rationalizing by that time!

But then I knew for sure it was the leading of Your Spirit when we heard her say in her own language: "I praise God! I had only two Euros left in my account. I've been going into the woods to find berries to eat. I've been thanking God that at least I am alive."

We all praised God. And when it was time for them to pray for me, the joy of the Lord began to bubble up and flow out of me more freely than I've experienced in a very long time. When I could finally speak again, all I could say was, "Thank You, Lord, for making me a hilarious giver!" (from 2 Corinthians 9:7) We all burst into more laughter and praise (living out Psalm 126:2).

Thank You, Lord. How wonderful You are to break the burden of my own concerns about Your provision with such a beautiful and powerful way of displaying Your faithfulness - to her and to us all. "And my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory forever and ever" (Philippians 4:19-20)

Lord Jesus, help me be more and more sensitive to the leading of Your Spirit. Give me courage to rise and respond in obedience to come and follow You wherever You lead. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

Friends, I begin the journey home today, flying back to Florida and then driving to Kentucky to our home base in Lexington. I'm so thankful for your prayers and for your friendship in this daily journey of prayer. I praise God for our Interactive Intercessory Prayer Team of prayer warriors from many nations, led by Heather Butler, our Pastor of Prayer Ministries, from her home in Wales. If you'd like to be part of one of our prayer teams connected through the internet, please let Heather know at PrayerLead@messiah-ministries.org If you are led to be part of our regular, monthly support base to help us share God's message of healing and hope, at home and abroad, please let me know at TommyHays@messiah-ministries.org Like missionaries, we raise our own support to fulfill our calling. And by joining with me Morning by Morning in prayer, I know you are already part of our reglular prayer support base and I praise God for you! We could not even begin to live out this calling and ministry without you! As you can imagine, there are constant battles coming against marriage, family, health, ministry, relationships, and finances. But our God is greater, and we prevail through prayer for one another. Becuase of the prayer cover, I'm certain there are innumberable attacks of the enemy we never even realize or feel. And those we do, we stand aginst together in Christ through the power of prayer. My prayers are with you, my friend, to expereince all the fullness and faithfulness of God. Thank you for praying that for us.

Be empowered, equipped, and encouraged to fulfill your destiny in Christ!

"River of the Water of Life" Flowing Freely - August 29

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Help me start this day and every day in the embrace of my Father, centered in Christ, and filled with the Holy Spirit. ...

"Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb through the middle of the street of the city. On either side of the river is the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit each month; and the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations" (Revelation 22:1-2).

Thank You for Your river of life. Thank You for Your living waters that flow from Your throne and through our lives, bringing healing and life to our hearts and our land throughout the nations of the earth. One day it will flow without measure and without restriction. But between this day and that one, let it flow in us and flow through us. This is the water of the Spirit of God (John 7:37-39).

Last night at our healing service in Voru, Estonia, the river of Your Spirit was flowing freely in our praises and in our prayers. You were healing spirit, soul, and body. Praise You for the pastor whose arm as healed and he kept spinning it around like a bicycle wheel, fast and faster, where he had very limited motion and pain before. Praise You for the tears that flowed, as burdens of pain and shame were released. And praise You for the spirit of joy and holy laughter that suddenly and surprisingly erupted in the hearts of the Baptist ladies in the back corner! (Psalm 126:2) Lord, let Your river flow in this land and in our hearts throughout the nations of the earth! In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

Eyes to See "A New Era" - August 28

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Here I am, Lord. Lead me today into Your will - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. ...

"Then turning to the disciples, Jesus said to them privately, 'Blessed are the eyes that see what you see! For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, but did not see it, and to hear what you hear, but did not hear it' " (Luke 10:23-24).

An old Estonian man who had seen much in his lifetime came to our meetings under the tent at Camp Gideon last week. He was ninety-seven years old, and he had seen and heard more in his life than I can even imagine. He lived through the horrors of two world wars, was conscripted by force into the Nazi army, then captured by the Soviets and accused as a spy to be sent to prison camp for ten years in Siberia and another ten years in the Ukraine. Yet his faith brought him through. I was so honored to be able to say a prayer of blessing with him and to honor him as a father in the faith. His old eyes were shining with fresh excitement and joy.

Pastor Kaupo had spent much time with him one day to hear many of his stories. He said he had visitations of angels two times in his life. The last time the angel said, "You will live to see the beginning of a new era." He told Pastor Kaupo he believed he was now seeing that new era, as his people were being freed in the Spirit with the joy of the Lord, while the chains of spiritual oppression and heaviness were being broken. Praise God! Lord, let it be so!

Let this be a new era, where Your light is breaking into the darkness as never before, where Your Spirit is giving us the garments of praise instead of the spirit of heaviness. Let Your joy be our strength and Your peace be our comfort, no matter what we may endure in these days. Open our eyes to see and our ears to hear what our Father is doing in our midst, in the name of Jesus and by the power of the Holy Spirit. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hay

Tommy, please pray for us in Estonia as I ahve some personal payer ministry times with people today and lead a healing service tonight at the Methodist Church in Voru in the Southeast corner of the country. We are so grateful for all your encouragement, prayers, and support that allow us to share this message of hope and healing at home and abroad as the Holy Spirit leads. God bless you and love through you in His power wherever you are and everywhere He sends you!

Hope and Joy in the Wilderness - August 27

Friends, sorry that I've not been able to send out my morning prayers regularly the past week, with very limited internet access at the Retreat at Camp Gideo in Estonia. Thank you for your prayer for me!

Good morning, Lord Jesus. I lift up my voice and sing out Your praise to start off my day centered in You. ...

"Therefore I will now allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak tenderly to her. From there I will give her her vineyards, and make the Valley of Achor a valley of hope. There she shall respond as in the days of her youth, as at the time when she came out of the land of Egypt" (Hosea 2:14-15).

Thank You, Lord, for the times You allure us into the wilderness, for the times we journey through the desert places. Though it's hard to see You in it, You are always with us through it. And it's in those very places and those very times that You speak tenderly to us, that Your turn valleys of sin and shame and pain into doors of hope. There You refresh us and renew us; You uplift us and encourage us, as You welcome us home into the deep place in Your heart. From the dry and lonely wilderness, we are more than ready to come to hear Your voice and embrace Your love.

In these past days at Camp Gideon, along the Baltic Sea in northern Estonia, You drew Your people away from the cities and busyness of their lives into this wilderness place, carved out of the land. It was a time to rest and be restored, to drink deeply from the living water of Your Spirit and be refreshed and renewed.

You brought me here along with them, both to give and to receive, as You spoke tenderly to us and move powerfully within us. You lifted our burdens and broke our chains; You healed our hurts and filled our hearts. And on the last night, You broke through the last barriers to burst forth with joy!

In our hearts Your fulfilled Your Word: "The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad, the desert shall rejoice and blossom; like the crocus, it shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice with joy and singing.... Strengthen the weak hands, and make firm the feeble knees. Say to those of a fearful heart, 'Be strong, do not fear! ... Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf unstopped; then the lame shall leap like a deer, and the tongue of the speechless sing for joy. For waters shall break forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert.... And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away!" (Isaiah 35:1-10) In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays

Thank you! for all your prayers, encouragement and suppport for our ministry and this ministry trip to Estonia. The pastors were just telling me this morning there was great breakthrough in the spiritual realm and in the hearts of the people. I was expressing to my interpreter yesterday that I was a little discouraged when I hugged an elderly lady we prayed for the night before for healing in her body but she was still walking with her cane; but my interpreter(Ave, one of our Messiah Ministries' Prayer Team Warriors) told me I should be greatly encouraged by the tremendous healing in the hearts the people were obviously experiencing by the great joy and freedom, where there had been deep heaviness and oppression before. Praise God!

Please pray for rest and renewal, even as we continue ministry today now at the other end of the country. We go this afternoon to minister to the people on the Russian border in the village of Vitka with Pastor Tea, and with my hosts Pastors Kaupo and Thea. Tea's father was matyred in Soviet times for boldly preaching the name of Jesus, and the Lord moves mightily today in this region where the blood of the martyrs cries out for the salvation of souls and healing of the land.

Friends, please pray for Messiah Ministries. We've just sent out a letter to our supporters and those who've been touched by the Lord through our ministry to join with us in prayer and financial support. This is so critical for us to continue to fulfill our calling to bring the Lord's message of healing and hope -- healing from the inside out -- healing the brokenhearted, setting the captives free, at home and abroad. Like missionaries, we raise our own support for this full-time ministry. Please prayerfully consider joining with us as a monthly supporter and whenever the Lord leads you. God bless you and thank you for standing with us to do our part with the gifts the Lord has given us to minister the healing love of God and advance the Kingdom of God in Jesus' name

Ambassador for Christ in Estonia - August 21

Good morning, Lord Jesus. I rest in You; I trust in You; I live and move and have my being in You - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. ...
"For the love of Christ urges us on.... So we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making His appeal through us..." (2 Corinthians 5:14-20).
They stamped my passport as I entered the nation of Estonia, across the Baltic Sea from Finland to the north and bordering Russia to the east. But they only stamped the one I carry in my pocket that says I'm an American. The one I carry in my spirit says I am a citizen of the Kingdom of God, on eternal assignment to carry the Presence of God with me and within me by the Spirit of God wherever I go as an ambassador for Christ. Wherever I go, the Kingdom of Heaven has come near, because the Kingdom of Heaven is in me (Romans 14:17).
May the love of God, revealed in Jesus Christ, flow through me in the anointing of the Holy Spirit with every step I take and every word I speak. And may I also embrace that same love and light flowing through my brothers and sisters in this land everywhere You send me.
Estonia a nation known for its oppression from regimes that have come to conquer and subdue their people through the centuries - the Vikings, the Swedes, the Germans, the Russians, the Nazis, the Soviets. It was one of the last regions of Europe to be "Christianized" from Paganism, but even that was by the sword rather than by the heart, to the shame of the misguided medieval "Church" of the dark ages. But as I arrived yesterday, the whole nation was proudly celebrating their Independence Day of twenty-one years of freedom from the oppression of Soviet communism, when they courageously stood their ground in the face of invading tanks in a miraculous story of national deliverance.
Lord, heal this land. Let this people experience the fullness of the freedom they can have in Christ. May the Spirit of Christ fill this land in great revival and awakening to their calling and destiny for this generation. "Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom" (2 Corinthians 3:17). May I be an ambassador of that freedom. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays
Friends, please keep us in your prayers as I speak and minister at the Summer Retreat for the Methodist Church in Estonia, where I've been asked to help bring deeper experience and understanding of healing prayer ministry and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. I'll also be speaking at other churches and settings accross the nation, some planned and some as the Holy Spirit leads, moment by moment.
Tommy, please pray for Messiah Ministries. Dear Friends of Tommy & Sylvia Hays and Messiah Ministries,
After last weekend's ministry in Georgia, the Pastor at New Covenant Church told me in his words what we've been hearing in the cities and nations where the Lord has been sending us: "Praise God! This was just what we needed, right on time. God's Word and the Father's heart in the power of the Holy Spirit for our church and our city!" The Holy Spirit is preparing the Body and Bride of Christ in this hour in exciting ways--freeing us from the hurts and chains of the past and awakening us to our calling and destiny. Through the marriage of inner healing and prophetic ministry, the Lord is anointing the people of God in power and love to send us into the harvest of souls.
Everywhere the Lord sends us in ministry, we are seeing His power bring breakthrough in lives. A few months ago, an Army Major veteran of the war in Vietnam came to our meeting on forgiveness in West Virginia. He'd never been able to forgive himself and fully receive God's forgiveness. As we prayed that night, God broke into his heart and set him free of bondage he'd carried for fifty years. Not only healing in his heart and spirit, the Holy Spirit healed his body, as he came to church Sunday morning without his cane and sharing his testimony of spiritual, emotional, and physical healing--healing from the inside out!
Just a few weeks ago, a young woman in the Yukon started off the morning caught with a man being taken off to jail, but she chose to come hear God's word instead of turn away in shame. She wept through the message of the Father's love and mercy. She gave her life to Jesus and we baptized her in the stream with shouts of joyous praise that very day!
We could share so many more stories of the Lord's healing love and power breaking into people's lives as we share the message burning in our hearts: Like the young man two days ago in Florida miraculously healed to full range of motion in his arm and complete freedom from extreme pain or the couple who came for prayer ministry not speaking to each other but left embracing each other with freeing forgivness and renewed hope. Like the lives changed every day through our Prayer Team led by Heather Bulter in Wales through the internet and the weekly gathering of prayer for the peace of Jerusalem led by Bob and Doris McCray. Like the teams of prayer partners, loving and healing in Jesus's name, trained and equipping for prayer ministry through Messiah Ministries. Like so many more in this season of anointing and acceleration of God's healng love and power being released.
Will you help with your prayers and support to keep carrying this message of hope and healing to a hurting generation? Like missionaries to America and the nations, we raise our own support, desperately dependent upon God and those whose lives are touched through this ministry the Lord has entrusted to us to provide for our ministry.
To fulfill our calling, we need your regular support on a monthly basis and as the Lord leads, stirring up a joyful and generous spirit to join with us in this ministry of God's healing from the inside out. Some give $10, some $100, some $500 a month and specific amounts from time to time as the Lord reminds our friends of His impact on their lives and His desire to continue to impact others. However you're led, please know we are so grateful to you for your prayers and support, of any amount, that enable us to fulfill our destiny in Christ through Messiah Ministries.
May our God pour out His favor and blessing upon you and those you love with great abundance and empower you to fulfill your destiny in Christ, in Jesus' name.

Special Note: Friends, in just a few days, I will be flying to the nation of Estonia, a former Soviet Republic. The Superintendent who oversees all the Methodist churches in the country has invited us to come minister to and equip the ministers and church leaders for inner healing and prophetic ministry to impact the entire nation. They are not able to pay our way but the Lord has called us to come. Due to some health issues, Sylvia is not able to come as planned, but I wil be going with the support of our ministry partners. Would you prayerfully consider joining with us with your support right away for this mission and the others like it, where we are being sent into the harvest? God bless you!

"March on, my soul, with might!" - August 16

Good morning, Lord Jesus. In these first moments of my morning, I speak out Your name and silently wait in Your Presence for the leading of Your Spirit. ...
I hear in my spirit the cry of Your Holy Spirit to me and to the people of God today: "Awake! Arise! Come out of your slumber, cast off your weariness! Seek Me and I will fill you with My vitality and vigor to embrace the battles of this day with passion and zeal. With each step, I will strengthen you. With each stand, I will empower you. With each word, I will reinforce you. Intentionally, deliberately yield to Me and I will arise within you, My children, My mighty ones I have prepared for the battles for the souls of nations today."
Yes, Lord. Let it be so. Let every word that's from Your heart awaken my spirit to go forth in obedience and faith today. You've already gone before me, and You'll also go with me, throughout every encounter and experience I will engage today. Let the zeal of the Lord awaken me and empower me, filled with Your Spirit and singing Your praise.
"Hear, O kings; give ear, O princes; to the Lord I will sing, I will make melody to the Lord, the God of Israel.... My heart goes out to the commanders of Israel who offered themselves willingly among the people. Bless the Lord.... Then down to the gates marched the people of the Lord. 'Awake, awake, Deborah! Awake, awake, utter a song! Arise, Barak, lead away your captives, O son of Abinoam.' Then down marched the remnant of the noble; the people of the Lord marched down for Him against the mighty... March on, my soul, with might!" (Judges 5:3-21) In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
Be encouraged today! In the Love of Jesus, Tommy Hays
Friends, please keep us in prayer for several days of ministry in Naples, Florida this week at Kingdom Life Anglican Church. Then I leave from here to go to the nation of Estonia, a former Soviet Republic to teach and minister at the annual Pastor's Conference with all the Methodist pastors from accross the country in a very strategic opportunity. Please keep Sylvia in prayer for complete healing from health issues that are hindering her travel. And as you can imagine, we need constant prayer covering for our marriage, family, health, finances, and ministry out here on the front lines of the spiritual battle every day.

Healed and Freed "Immediately" - August 15

Good morning, Lord Jesus. I call on Your name, lift up my face, and open up my heart to begin my day with You-Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. ...
"But Peter said, 'I have no silver or gold, but what I have I give you, in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, stand up and walk.' And he took him by the right hand and raised him up; and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong. Jumping up, he stood and began to walk, and he entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God" (Acts 3:6-9).
Last night, the young man we were praying for opened his eyes and slowly began to lift his right arm up ... then higher ... then higher ... then rotating it full circle, fully extended ... shouting and praising God! His pain level that had been at a 9 out of 10 from an immobilized shoulder from a bad fall down the stairs a few days ago was completely gone! Joy erupted in the hallway where he had been on the way to the bathroom, but instead had a miraculous healing encounter with Jesus the Healer at the Kingdom Life Anglican Church in Naples.
I was just taking a little break after praying for a couple who came in for their prayer time barely speaking to each other, but left with arms around each other, embracing hope and exuding forgiveness, with many tears turned to great joy. They had had an encounter with Jesus the Healer!
So much of what we see in this ministry You've entrusted to us of inner healing-"healing from the inside out" takes time. I often have to remind myself that it's "through faith and patience" that "we inherit the promises" (Hebrews 6:12). But last night in Naples, You were moving in the miraculous realm of "immediately" and "suddenly." How exciting! And how encouraging!
I thank You, Lord, for every way You choose to move in our lives through the power of Your love and the mercy of Your grace. Whether immediately and suddenly or step by step and layer by layer, You love us and You are for us. You want us healed and whole, forgiven and free. "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and do not forget all His benefits-who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the Pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good as long as you live so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's" (Psalm 103:2-5). Praise Your holy and mighty name, O Lord. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

Everlasting Covenant of Mercy - August 14

Good morning, Lord Jesus. You are One with the Father, One with the Holy Spirit. Draw me near in the communion of prayer to be one with You. Put Your thoughts in my mind and Your desires in my heart. Change me from the inside out to be more like You today. ...
"Yes, thus says the Lord God: I will deal with you as you have done, you who have despised the oath, breaking the covenant; yet I will remember my covenant in the days of your youth, and I will establish with you an everlasting covenant" (Ezekiel 16:59-60).
You know every sin and every struggle; You know every fear and every failure; and yet You love us. You know every heartbreak and every way we've broken the hearts of others; You know promise we've every made and every promise we've ever broken; and yet You love us. You know every wrong choice we've ever made in the freedom our relationship of love with You requires; You know every wrong choice we've yet to make in the adventure of the journey our faith in You inspires; and yet You love us.
Though we are often faithless, You are always faithful. Though there are consequences for our choices, there's mercy in Your heart. And in the tender mercy and steadfast love You have for us, the children of Your creation, You've made a covenant with us-an everlasting covenant that will not and cannot be broken. And every time we turn to You and call on Your name, You remember Your covenant. And in some sense, just as importantly, You remind us of Your covenant with us. You are the God of covenant who is "merciful to all" (Romans 11:32).
Lord, let us not presume upon Your faithfulness, but rather pursue our own. Let us not get bound up or bogged down in the sins and failures of our past or present, but rather look up and press in to Your grace to forgive, Your power to heal, and Your will to keep using every experience to keep changing us into Your image, more and more every day. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

Forces of Healing and Hope - August 13

Good morning, Lord Jesus. All of me, for all of You. ...
"Your people will offer themselves willingly on the day You lead Your forces in holy splendor" (Psalm 110:3).
We are the army of the Lord-forces of healing and hope, freedom and life, in the power of Your love being manifested through our lives. And You are the "Commander of the Army of the Lord" (Joshua 5:14).
Give us great courage to offer ourselves willing, to run to the battle. Give us eyes to see You and see ourselves are we truly are. Let us be aligned and arrayed in the holy splendor of Your righteousness and the beauty of Your holiness that comes only through Your forgiveness of our sins, Your healing of our wounds, and Your freedom from our chains.
Empowered by Your Spirit and led by our Commander, we will be a force to be reckoned with. By the power of Your grace, we will be the force You use to "turn the world upside down" in our generation (Acts 17:6). In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

"Like a Spring of Water" - August 10

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit-I worship You, Lord God, in every dimension of Your Being with every dimension of my being. ...
"The Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your needs in parched places, and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters never fail. Your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt; you shall raise up the devastations of many generations; you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorers of the streets to live in" (Isaiah 58:11-12).
Lord, I want my heart and life to be "like a spring of water, whose waters never fail." I want to drink deeply of Your Spirit and follow closely Your guidance. In the ways You have restored me and repaired me, I want You to use me to be a repairer and restorer in the lives of others.
So give me a right heart, with right motives (v. 58:1-5). Cause the things that move Your heart to move my heart (v. 58:6-10). Give me the courage to live the life You've created for me, wholly committed and surrendered to You, holding nothing back (v. 58:13). "Then (I) shall take delight in the Lord, and (You) will make (me) ride upon the heights of the earth" (v. 58:14).
As best as I can and all by Your grace, I give You complete access and total permission to convict me and heal me, to free me and change me from the inside out to be the son You've created me to be and live the life You've prepared for me. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

"I Shall Rise" - August 9

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Sanctify my mind and all my thoughts; purify my heart and all my desires; make me more like You today. ...
"Do not rejoice over me, O my enemy; when I fall, I shall rise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me" (Micah 7:8).
You are the God who turns our battles into victories, our challenges into opportunities, and our sufferings into obedience. You even take the places of our sin and shame, cleanse them in Your blood, and then use them as places of authority with compassion in the lives of others. You are our redeemer, abounding in steadfast love and full of tender mercies, always at work turning our ashes to beauty and despair to praise (Isaiah 61:3).
The enemy of our souls mocks and laughs, as he works to tempt us and trick us and torment us into giving up or giving in. But You always have the last laugh-"He who sits in heaven laughs; the Lord has them in derision" (Psalm 2:4). You hear us when we call and rush to us in our distress, mighty to save (Psalm 18:6-19). Though we may fall, we will rise; though we may sit in darkness, our light will break forth like noon day, when we humble ourselves to call on Your name and fully entrust ourselves into Your hands. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

Hostility and Jealousy Depart - August 8

Good morning, Lord Jesus. As best as I can and all by Your grace, I open my heart and soul to You-Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. ...
"The jealousy of Ephraim shall depart, the hostility of Judah shall be cut off, Ephraim shall not be jealous of Judah, and Judah shall not be hostile toward Ephraim. But they shall swoop down on the backs of the Philistines in the west, and together they will plunder the people of the east" (Isaiah 11:13-14).
Our battle is not against flesh and blood; it's against the spiritual forces of wickedness that come to divide us and destroy us, to dishonor Your name and defile Your creation (Ephesians 6:12). So You continually call us to humble ourselves in Your sight and let You open our eyes to see everything in us that is not yet like You (Psalm 139:22-23).
You want us to be willing to let You draw up and out the hostilities and hurts, the jealousies and pride, the selfishness and resentment that the enemy of our souls constantly uses to keep us wounded and bound. With all our attention on our hurts and focused on fighting our chains, we are no threat to his purposes and become trophies of his arrogant rebellion against You, while being willing participants in our own destruction.
But if we humble ourselves before You, then You will lift us up (James 4:10). If we submit ourselves to You and resist the devil, then he will flee (James 4:7). Then we can get our eyes off of ourselves and our self-pity, and lift them up to You, our strength and help (Psalm 121:1). Then we can arise as one, forgiving each other and fighting for one another, as You send us forth into the battle for the hearts and souls of the nations (Psalm 110:3; Matthew 24:14).
Lord, give us this spirit of humility, this spirit of repentance, that we can turn our eyes off of ourselves and the enemy behind our sinful actions and back to You. "But as for me, I will look to the Lord. I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me" (Micah 7:6). Hear me, O God, and help me hear You, as I try to willingly choose to humble myself in trusting surrender to You alone. Then let my God arise and my enemies be scattered (Psalm 68:1-35). In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

Spiritual Battles Overcome in Christ - August 7

Good morning, Lord Jesus. Be near to me throughout the moments of my day. ...
"By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world" (1 John 4:2-4, NKJ).
Most everyone I know seems to be in some sort of spiritual battle, in varying degrees of intensity. Some battle in their health, some in their relationships, some in their finances, some in their spiritual life, some in just getting out of bed to face what may be coming today in their lives or in the lives of those they love. Sometimes the battle is outside of us; sometimes the battle is inside of us; most of the time, it seems it's both. But greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world.
I thank You, Lord, that You are not only aware of our battles, that You are not only with us in our battles, but that You are within us in our battles. You are the One who is in us. "Christ in (us), the hope of glory" (Colossians 1:27).
So You know intimately every thought that comes against our minds, every wound that touches our hearts, every fear that steals our peace, every discouragement that crushes our hope. And You arise within us, to strengthen and encourage us, to anoint us with the presence and power of Your Spirit from on high and from within. "If the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also through His Spirit that dwells in you" (Romans 8:11).
"The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? ... Though an enemy encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war rise up against me, yet I will be confident" (Psalm 27:1-3). By the power and mercy of Your grace, I will be confident in Christ, who dwells within me and wars mightily and victoriously for me. Praise Your holy and mighty name! In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

Friends, let's cover one another in prayer in these challenging days. We are more than conquerors as we allow Christ to arise within us and through us, but we need prayer to encourage us to take our place in the battle. In Christ together, the battle belongs to the Lord!
