“In the Spirit I’m Alive!” - February 29, 2024

 

Morning by Morning, February 29 - “In the Spirit I’m Alive!”   Good morning, Lord Jesus. I draw near to You and You draw near to me, as I listen for Your leading, here in the communion of prayer to begin my day apart with You. ...   “But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His” (Romans 8:9).   Every day, I can choose to begin my day “in the flesh” or “in the Spirit.” And I can choose to continue my day until the end of my day “in the flesh” or “in the Spirit.” But why would I choose the flesh when I can choose the Spirit?   In the Spirit, I’m alive. In the Spirit, I’m part of You bringing life. In the Spirit, I’m part of Your Body, stretching out Your hands, speaking out Your words, moving in the power and authority of Your name with Your love at Your command and the leading of Your Spirit (Romans 8:14). For “indeed the Spirit of God dwells in (me) and I “have the Spirit of Christ” living in me.   So why would I choose the flesh? Why would I choose an ordinary day, when my day could be filled with the Spirit, overflowing with the Spirit--whether I’m going across town or around the world?   As I express my prayer, the words of an old Don Potter song from MorningStar Ministries stir up in my spirit from when he sang it over us at a ministry retreat many years ago:   “In the Spirit I’m alive! In the Spirit I can fly! In the Spirit of the Living God.” ... “In the Spirit He is real! In the Spirit I can feel! In the Spirit I am healed by the power of His love!” ...   Spirit of the Living God, fill me afresh with Your Spirit today. As Your Word both invites and commands, “Be filled with the Spirit!” (Ephesians 5:18).   Yes, Lord! “Spirit of God,” “Spirit of Christ,” Spirit of the Living God, the Loving God, the Moving in Power and Love God, move in me and move through me today! For along with every believer who carries the Holy Spirit in their heart, “the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in (me), (and) He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to (my) mortal (body) through His Spirit who dwells in (me)!” (Romans 8:11)   So by the power and mercy of Your grace living in me, I choose to live “in the Spirit” today, for “In the Spirit I’m alive!” In Jesus’ name I pray. My Heart is Full! - February 28, 2024

 

Morning by Morning, February 28 - My Heart is Full!   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Put Your thoughts in my mind and Your desires in my heart, as You make me more like You today (Romans 8:29). ...   I made it back home from India late last night. The middle leg of my journey from Doha to Dallas was fifteen hours! But it was worth every minute and mile, going and coming, for all I saw You do as You were saving souls, healing hearts, breaking chains, and moving in the power of Your love for so many who were desperately hungry for an encounter with You.   You’ve set my heart on fire with revival again! And I pray every spark You’ve set everywhere You sent me will be fanned into flame! (2 Timothy 1:6)   I’ve hardly had time to reflect on what all You’ve done, as my mind tries to wake up from the fog of the travel home, after ministering in three different areas of India in three weeks, but as I wake up this morning, what first comes to my heart is that “My heart is full.”   As David expressed in Psalm 28:   “The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him!” (Psalm 28:7)   And in the 23rd Psalm: “My cup runs over!” (Psalm 23:5).   And as Paul exuded in Romans 5: “The love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who has been given to us” (Romans 5:5).   Thank You, Lord! Thank You for all who prayed for me, provided for me, imparted into me, and were part of all You did in me and through me as You sent me to India for these three magnificent weeks of ministry!   Thank You for letting me and all who are a part of our ministry in so many ways be a part of the fulfillment of Your Word:   “And this Gospel of the Kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come!” (Matthew 24:14).   My heart is full! Impartation of Joy - February 22, 2024

 

Morning by Morning, February 22 - Impartation of Joy   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Fill my heart with Your light and my mouth with Your words. ...   “The joy of the Lord is (my) strength” (Nehemiah 8:10). I’m amazed what a difference joy makes. People are drawn to it. People are hungry for it. Sometimes they don’t even know how much they need it until they see it.   And joy is transferrable. It’s contagious!   This is my third and last week of ministry in India. And among all the things I’ve seen You do -- moving in the power of the Holy Spirit and the love of God to save souls, heal hearts, break chains, awaken revival -- seeing faces light up with joy, seeing sad eyes start to sparkle with delight, seeing the joy of the Lord ignite a healing from the inside out in so many hearts -- has been one my greatest joys! Because it’s all a manifestation of Your joy!   In the middle of my journeys, I joined a couple from my home base church and weekly course on inner healing in Fredericksburg, Texas--Allen and Molly Nance--who were visiting the Children’s Home north of Hyderabad they have sponsored for years. One morning we were blessing the children on their way to school with a snack for the day, as we took them by the hands. But first they needed to recite their memory verse for the day -- “The joy of the Lord is (my) strength!”   As soon as they said the words of Your Word, their faces lit up with joy! Then they ran off into their day. Joy was imparted! Joy was ignited! And they carried that joy -- Your joy -- everywhere they went and to everyone they met.   Fill me with more joy today, Lord. It’s part of our inheritance as children of God, part of our inheritance in the kingdom of God. “For the kingdom of God is ... righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit!” (Romans 14:17) In Jesus’ name I pray. The Word Made Flesh Loving, Touching, and Healing Flesh and Blood - February 16, 2024

 

Morning by Morning, February 16 - The Word Made Flesh Loving, Touching, and Healing Flesh and Blood   Good morning, Lord Jesus. Make me more like You today (1 John 4:17). ...   “Now a leper came to (Jesus), imploring Him, kneeling down to Him and saying to Him, ‘If You are willing, You can make me clean.’ Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, ‘I am willing; be cleansed.’ As soon as He had spoken, immediately the leprosy left him, and he was cleansed” (Mark 1:40-42).   You are the Word made Flesh. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.... And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:1, 14).   In Your Flesh, as You walked this earth as both Son of God and Son of Man, You revealed the Heart of God in the flesh. In Your Flesh, You loved people of flesh and blood, in all their struggles, all their sins, all of everything in them that needed to know You and experience Your love for them. You loved people, saved people, healed people, freed people, encouraged people, released the abundance of life in You to all people who would come to You and trust You and put their faith in You.   Not only did You love them and heal them, You also touched them. Not only did You touch them in their hearts, You also touched them with Your hands.   That leper that day needed to be touched by Your love but he also needed to be touched by Your hands. He felt “untouchable.” He felt “unclean.” But You touched him and loved him made him clean with Your touch. You are the Word made Flesh, loving and touching and healing flesh and bone. Not only out of duty and calling, but also “moved with compassion.”   Move me with Your compassion today, Lord Jesus. Today we’re going among those who feel untouchable, unclean, isolated, lonely, sick, rejected and forgotten in an isolated colony in South India. But You haven’t forgotten them. May we carry Your heart of compassion and love. May we carry Your Message of healing and hope.   Would You stretch out Your hands through our hands, Your heart through our hearts, to let each one know they are loved and not alone. For You love us and never forsake us, and welcome us to embrace the mercy and love that only You can provide (Hebrews 12:5). You are “the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 12:8). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today.
