Morning by Morning, March 13 - “Great Exploits” Good morning, Lord Jesus. I speak out Your name and listen for Your voice, for Your sheep hear Your voice and You know them and they follow You (John 10:27). ... As I wait and listen for the leading of Your Spirit (Romans 8:14), I hear in my heart these words: “Great exploits.” ... Immediately the Scripture of Your Written Word comes to mind in confirmation of what I’m hearing in my heart of Your spoken word from the end-time, prophetic Book of Daniel: “Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits” (Daniel 11:32). The prophet Daniel speaks of a time to come called “the appointed time” (v. 29). It will be a horrendous time of battles and intrigue, of grief and rage, of defilement and “abomination” (v. 31). But in the midst of it all, You will have a people who are called by Your name, who will know their God, who will be strong in the strength of the Lord, who will “carry out great exploits!” (v. 32) Your people will overcome much and through their overcoming lives, keeping their faces and hearts turned toward You no matter what comes against them, they “shall instruct many” (v. 33). All that they endure and overcome shall only serve to “refine them, purify them, and make them white, until the time of the end; because it is still for the appointed time” (v. 35). We don’t know the day or hour of those times or that “appointed time,” but You do. Our part is not to know the exact time, but to be ready now in our hearts for whatever times may come. As You said, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world!” (John 16:33). Our moments of tribulation may be battling cancer or a sickness, overcoming a culture hell-bent on rejecting God, persevering in prayer and holding fast to the Word of God despite a world that blasphemes our God and belittles the power and authority of Your Word even in parts of Your own “church,” or pressing into Your Presence when our hopes are dashed, our faith is challenged, our weaknesses are exposed, and our spiritual enemies seem to have a time or season of prevailing, as when Satan thought he had the victory on Good Friday before his crushing defeat of Resurrection Sunday! But we find our peace in You. We have our victory in You. And even in the darkness, Your light will shine brighter. Even through the battles, Your people who overcome will ultimately prevail in Your power, doing “great exploits” by Your grace and for Your glory! We don’t know all the times to come. But we do know the One who holds all time in Your hands. So I entrust myself to You. I seek to keep pursuing You, to know You, to be among those “who know their God” and “carry out great exploits” (v. 32). Come, Holy Spirit. Prepare my heart today so that I may be ready whenever those days may come, whenever “the appointed time” is at hand. Refine me. Purify me. Make me white as snow in the cleansing of my soul through the Blood of the Lamb and the Fire of the Spirit! I desire with all my heart to be found faithful to You. And if it is to be, to be one of those whom You have called and commissioned to do “great exploits” in the power and authority of Your name in the times in which You’ve chosen for me and blessed me to be alive and see! In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
