Morning by Morning, February 14, 2025 - Expressed Love, not Hidden Love, but Expressed in True Love   Good morning, Lord Jesus. I begin my day in the communion of prayer with You—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God, for “he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him” (1 Corinthians 6:17). ...   On this day all the world celebrates as Valentines Day, a Word from Your Word about love comes to mind:   "Better is open rebuke than hidden love" (Proverbs 27:5).   Hidden love is unexpressed love. Hidden love is not healthy love. For love is meant to be expressed. Love is meant to be given and received, not hidden and held.   Expressed love implies relationship--honest, open and true. So in a sense, love unexpressed is love denied. And love denied is not healthy for the one withholding it and not healthy for the one waiting to receive it. And in that sense, love fully alive is love fully expressed. It is a active, not passive. It is engaging, not detached. "It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things" (1 Corinthians 13:7).   In our world, there is both true love and false, the love of the world and the love of God. “God is Love and he who abides in love abides in God” (1 John 4:16). And You’ve given us Your True Word to express to us the character of Your True Love:   “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails” (1 Corinthians 13:4-8).   So this day, when all the world celebrates love, let my love be expressed and not hidden, given away and not withheld, received and not rejected. Let my love be an expression of Your Love, Your True Love. As I do, I will remember I am free to love because You first loved me (1 John 4:19). "Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love" (1 John 4:7-8). Morning by Morning, February 13, 2025 - “Walk in the Spirit”   Good morning, Lord Jesus. I wait and listen for Your leading--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. ...   “I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh” (Galatians 5:16).   By the mercy and grace of God, our primary focus can be on walking in the Spirit rather than focusing primarily on trying to not stumble in the flesh. As we focus on You, in the humility of willingly choosing to be desperately dependent upon You alone, rather than our own power and wisdom and ways to constantly try to overcome our flesh, You empower us to succeed and prevail and overcome. “For it is God who works in (us) both to will and to do for His good pleasure” (Philippians 2:13). “For God is working in (us), giving us the desire and the power to do what pleases Him” (NLT).   Allowing God to be working in us is how we “Walk in the Spirit.”   Work in me today, Lord God. Come, Holy Spirit. Give me both the desire and the power to do what pleases You. Let that be my focus. Let You be my Focus.   As I focus on You, as You’re putting Your thoughts in my mind, Your desires in my heart, You’re displacing the thoughts and desires of my flesh that would oppose Your Spirit. As I choose to present my body to You as “a living sacrifice,” You’re setting me free from being “conformed to this world” as I’m being “transformed by the renewing of (my) mind” (Romans 12:1-2).   As I focus on You, as I’m freed from focusing on my own struggles with any thoughts and desires of my own flesh that would oppose Your Spirit, You will be confronting my flesh, overcoming my flesh, conquering my flesh. You will be crucifying my flesh as I choose to live in You as You live in me. This is how “I die daily” to the thoughts and desires of my flesh (1 Corinthians 15:31). This is how I “come after (You)” and “deny (myself), and take up (my) cross, and follow You” (Matthew 16:24).   By the desires of Your Spirit You’re forming and stirring in me, I desire to come to the place in my spirit that “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” (Galatians 2:20).   Living in You, with You living in me, is how I “Walk in the Spirit.” By the power of Your grace, may I “Walk in the Spirit” today. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today. Morning by Morning, February 12, 2025 - “Let the Little Children Come to Me”   Good morning, Lord Jesus. King of Kings, Lord of Lords, rule and reign in my heart and my life today (Revelation 19:16). ...   “Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.’ And He laid His hands on them ...” (Matthew 19:14-15).   This morning a group from our local church in Fredericksburg, the Bridge, went to our Middle School before classes started with worship and the Word of God, with prayers and smiles. And with donuts! “Devos and Donuts” our Youth Pastors call it, for devotionals and donuts, for kids to come and hear about Jesus and the love of God before they start their day at school. We praise God for our freedom of religion and freedom of speech in a nation where we can still speak the name of Jesus for all who would come and hear without any fear.   You’re still calling for the little children to come to You. You’re still calling for all who would become children of God to come to You. “As many as received Him, them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name” (John 1:12).   You’re still stretching out Your hands to them, stretching out Your heart to them. And thank You for using us to be extensions of Your hands and Your heart wherever You send us by Your Spirit with the love of our Father in the name of Jesus. And in the name of Jesus, we forbid every force of darkness from hindering these hearts from hearing Your Word and receiving Your love, that they might become children of God.   In the name of Jesus, we decree and declare, in accordance with the Command of Your Word, “Do not forbid them! For of such is the kingdom of heaven!” Thank You for letting Your kingdom come into the hearts of these children today, for coming into this school today. My Your kingdom keep coming in the hearts of all who would hear and receive! In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today.
