Morning by Morning, February 14, 2025 - Expressed Love, not Hidden Love, but Expressed in True Love Good morning, Lord Jesus. I begin my day in the communion of prayer with You—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God, for “he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him” (1 Corinthians 6:17). ... On this day all the world celebrates as Valentines Day, a Word from Your Word about love comes to mind: "Better is open rebuke than hidden love" (Proverbs 27:5). Hidden love is unexpressed love. Hidden love is not healthy love. For love is meant to be expressed. Love is meant to be given and received, not hidden and held. Expressed love implies relationship--honest, open and true. So in a sense, love unexpressed is love denied. And love denied is not healthy for the one withholding it and not healthy for the one waiting to receive it. And in that sense, love fully alive is love fully expressed. It is a active, not passive. It is engaging, not detached. "It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things" (1 Corinthians 13:7). In our world, there is both true love and false, the love of the world and the love of God. “God is Love and he who abides in love abides in God” (1 John 4:16). And You’ve given us Your True Word to express to us the character of Your True Love: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails” (1 Corinthians 13:4-8). So this day, when all the world celebrates love, let my love be expressed and not hidden, given away and not withheld, received and not rejected. Let my love be an expression of Your Love, Your True Love. As I do, I will remember I am free to love because You first loved me (1 John 4:19). "Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love" (1 John 4:7-8).
