The God Who Delights in Us - February 11, 2022

 

Morning by Morning, February 11 - The God Who Delights in Us Good morning, Lord Jesus. Looking to You, listening for Your leading, I’m seeking to begin by day embraced by my Father, centered in Christ, and filled with the Holy Spirit. ... “He reached down from on high, He took me;     He drew me out of mighty waters. He delivered me from my strong enemy,     and from those who hated me;     for they were too mighty for me. They confronted me in the day of my calamity;     but the Lord was my support. He brought me out into a broad place;     He delivered me, because He delighted in me” (Psalm 18:16-19). Thank You for Your Word that reveals Your heart: “He brought me out into a broad place; He delivered me, because He delighted in me” (v. 19). When You lead me out of the woods and lift me up from the pit to bring me into a broad and safe place, it’s not because I’ve deserved it or earned it. It’s not because You feel sorry for me or because You feel obligated to me. It’s because You have “delighted” in me. When You deliver me from evil and rescue me from harm, it’s not because You’re weary of hearing my whining or frustrated of waiting for me to figure out how to take care of myself in my own power, my own wisdom, in my own way. It’s because You have “delighted” in me. Lord, let that Truth get down into my spirit. Help me see myself more how You see me, how You have “delighted in me.” You love me. You like me. You have “delighted in me.” You want Your best for me -- for “(my) Father in heaven give(s) good things to those who ask Him” (Matthew 7:11). You want me to have all I need -- for “my God will fully satisfy every need of (mine) according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19). In fact, the Truth is, You want to pour out upon me even much more than I need -- “abundantly far more than all (I) can ask or imagine!” (Ephesians 3:20) Yes, You convict me and correct me and lead me to repentance. That’s what a loving Father does -- “for the Lord disciplines those whom He loves, and chastises every child whom He accepts” (Hebrews 12:6). That’s what a Good Shepherd does -- (John 10:11). Your kindness leads me to repentance (Romans 2:4). And Your kindness flows out of Your heart of love for me, Your desire for the best for me, because You have “delighted in me.” By the power of Your grace at work within me, I choose this day to see You as are You are and myself as I am. You love me! You like me! You delight in me! “The Lord, (my) God, is in (my) midst,     a warrior who gives victory; He will rejoice over (me) with gladness,     He will renew (me) in His love; He will exult over (me) with loud singing     as on a day of festival” (Zephaniah 3:17) Yes, You are the God who delights in me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today! Light of God’s Glory Pushing Back the Darkness - February 10, 2022

 

Morning by Morning, February 10 - Light of God’s Glory Pushing Back the Darkness Good morning, Lord Jesus. Light of the World, You light up my world, as I seek to begin my day in the Light of the Glory of Your Presence. ... “Therefore, since it is by God’s mercy that we are engaged in this ministry, we do not lose heart. We have renounced the shameful things that one hides; we refuse to practice cunning or to falsify God’s word; but by the open statement of the truth we commend ourselves to the conscience of everyone in the sight of God. And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For we do not proclaim ourselves; we proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord and ourselves as your slaves for Jesus’ sake. For it is the God who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ” (2 Corinthians 4:1-6). Holy Spirit of God, You are pushing back the darkness. You are opening up the heavens. You are revealing “the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ” all over the world. Hard hearts are being softened. Deadened spirits are coming to life. Blind eyes are being opened. Deaf ears are being unstopped. Lame bodies are leaping for joy. Speechless lips are singing praise. And the “the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God” is breaking forth like the dawn of a new day. And the darkness has to flee! Yes, it is a battle. Yes, it is a spiritual war. But “the weapons of our warfare” -- like the weapons of love and grace and faith and forgiveness and worship and honor; like the weapons of praying for those who persecute you, blessing those who curse you, even loving those who hate you; like the weapons of persistent perseverance in the power of Your grace, keeping our eyes on You as we look up and not down, looking forward and not back, seeing our lives and one another with the eyes of heaven and the Father heart of God instead of the eyes and heart of our world -- “have divine power to destroy strongholds” (2 Corinthians 10:3-4). These are weapons we wield by the power of Your grace and Presence of Your Spirit moving in us, fighting forward through us, and overcoming for us. “Christ in (us), the hope of glory” -- Your glory of Your Presence shining in us and through us, pushing back the darkness and opening up the heavens more and more every day (Colossians 1:27).  “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it” (John 1:5). You are “the Light of the World. Whoever follows (You) will never walk in darkness but have the Light of Life” (John 8:12). The darkness cannot overcome It -- but can only flee in the Light of the Glory of Your Presence.  Be encouraged today! The Disciples “Returned with Joy!” - February 9, 2024

 

Morning by Morning, February 9 - The Disciples “Returned with Joy!” Good morning, Lord Jesus. All that I am and all that I have, I entrust to You as I begin my day embraced by the Father’s love, centered in the Savior’s grace, and filled with the Holy Spirit’s presence. ... “The seventy returned with joy, saying, ‘Lord, in Your name even the demons submit to us!’ He said to them, ‘I watched Satan fall from heaven like a flash of lightning. See, I have given you authority to tread on snakes and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing will hurt you. Nevertheless, do not rejoice at this, that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.’ At that same hour Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, ‘I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants; yes, Father, for such was Your gracious will.  All things have been handed over to Me by My Father; and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him. Then turning to the disciples, Jesus said to them privately, ‘Blessed are the eyes that see what you see!’ For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, but did not see it, and to hear what you hear, but did not hear it!’” (Luke 10:17-24). Yesterday, Rocio and I “returned with joy” from our two week ministry trip to central Mexico to share the healing love of God everywhere You sent us. With Rocio interpreting, we were able to express Your heart as one to the people who were so hungry to hear and receive this message of healing from the inside out and the spiritual freedom we have in Christ. And an outpouring of the Father’s love is what we constantly heard the people call it, all along the way, as we saw You heal the broken-hearted and set captives free in Morelia, Patzcuaro, and little excursions along the way in San Miguel and Los Azufres. “Blessed are (our) eyes” for all we have seen, as we saw You heal hurts and wounds of the past, break off spiritual chains, and awaken again passion for You in the freedom of the Spirit from hearts embracing the Father’s love. We saw physical healings, freedom from demonic manifestations, salvation of souls, but all saturated in a soaking river of Your love. Many tears flowed in Your cleansing streams. Many hearts were lifted up, set free, in the power of the Savior’s love! We’ve “returned with joy,” but we can’t wait to go back! Fill us afresh and send us again as Your ambassadors of love, preparing the way of the Lord in the hearts of Your people to the ends of the earth. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today! Morning by Morning, February 2 - God’s Power of Love to Bind Up Broken Hearts and Break Off Binding Chains Good morning, Lord Jesus. You hold my heart and my life in Your hands -- scarred by the nails, as You poured out Your love for every one of us. ... “And hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.... God proves His love for us in that while we were sinners Christ died for us” (Romans 5:5). How great is Your love for us -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit of God. Your love is Your power and Your power is Your love, for You are Love (1 John 4:8). The same power of Your love that forgives us for our sins is also the same power of Your love that heals us from our wounds and frees us from our chains. You bind up broken hearts and Your break off binding chains -- healing the brokenhearted and setting captives free in the power of Your love (Isaiah 61:1; Luke 4:18). You are “the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). Come, Holy Spirit. I open my heart wide to the power of Your love to heal all that needs to be healed, to break all that needs to broken in me. And all You do in me, I pray You will do through me in the power of the love of God today. Freely we receive; and freely we are to give (Matthew 10:8). In very ways You heal us and free us and comfort us, You give us grace to be expressions of Your love as You heal and free and comfort others through us (2 Corinthians 1:3-4). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. Be encouraged today!
