Morning by Morning, February 10 - Light of God’s Glory Pushing Back the Darkness Good morning, Lord Jesus. Light of the World, You light up my world, as I seek to begin my day in the Light of the Glory of Your Presence. ... “Therefore, since it is by God’s mercy that we are engaged in this ministry, we do not lose heart. We have renounced the shameful things that one hides; we refuse to practice cunning or to falsify God’s word; but by the open statement of the truth we commend ourselves to the conscience of everyone in the sight of God. And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For we do not proclaim ourselves; we proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord and ourselves as your slaves for Jesus’ sake. For it is the God who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ” (2 Corinthians 4:1-6). Holy Spirit of God, You are pushing back the darkness. You are opening up the heavens. You are revealing “the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ” all over the world. Hard hearts are being softened. Deadened spirits are coming to life. Blind eyes are being opened. Deaf ears are being unstopped. Lame bodies are leaping for joy. Speechless lips are singing praise. And the “the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God” is breaking forth like the dawn of a new day. And the darkness has to flee! Yes, it is a battle. Yes, it is a spiritual war. But “the weapons of our warfare” -- like the weapons of love and grace and faith and forgiveness and worship and honor; like the weapons of praying for those who persecute you, blessing those who curse you, even loving those who hate you; like the weapons of persistent perseverance in the power of Your grace, keeping our eyes on You as we look up and not down, looking forward and not back, seeing our lives and one another with the eyes of heaven and the Father heart of God instead of the eyes and heart of our world -- “have divine power to destroy strongholds” (2 Corinthians 10:3-4). These are weapons we wield by the power of Your grace and Presence of Your Spirit moving in us, fighting forward through us, and overcoming for us. “Christ in (us), the hope of glory” -- Your glory of Your Presence shining in us and through us, pushing back the darkness and opening up the heavens more and more every day (Colossians 1:27).  “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it” (John 1:5). You are “the Light of the World. Whoever follows (You) will never walk in darkness but have the Light of Life” (John 8:12). The darkness cannot overcome It -- but can only flee in the Light of the Glory of Your Presence.  Be encouraged today!
