Morning by Morning, January 8, 2025 - “The Generation of Those Who Seek Him” Good morning, Lord Jesus. As the worship song says, I “look full in Your wonderful face” as I watch and wait for Your leading “in the light of (Your) glory and grace.” ... “This is Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him, Who seek Your face. Selah” (Psalm 24:6).
“One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord, And to inquire in His temple” (Psalm 27:4). “When You said, ‘Seek My face,’ My heart said to You, ‘Your face, Lord, I will seek’” (Psalm 27:8). As these Words of God come to my mind and rise up in my spirit--all about seeking Your face--I’m led to ponder what it is to “seek the face of God.” ... As I wait and listen, with my human spirit in communion with Your Holy Spirit, what comes to me now are these words: “My face reveals My heart. My face reveals my Spirit. As you seek My face, you are seeking to know Me, to know more of Me, more of My heart, more of My Spirit. And as you seek Me and behold Me, I am changing you into My image, more and more, from glory to glory. For you become like the One you worship.” ... Yes, Lord. Another Scripture comes to mind, the One from our time of prayer yesterday morning: “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord” (2 Corinthians 3:18). Thank You for inviting me to be a part of “the generation who seek (You)” (Psalm 24:6). Thank You for this invitation to deeper intimacy with You, deeper union with You. It’s a means of Your grace to make me more like You, to be more conformed into Your character, (Romans 8:29; 1 John 4:17), as I pursue You more purposefully and seek You more intensely -- “looking unto Jesus” (Hebrews 12:2), “to behold (Your) beauty” (Psalm 27:4), to “seek (Your) face” (Psalm 27:8). Give me Your grace, I pray, to embrace Your open invitation to passionately pursue Your Presence more deeply than I ever have--not just in these quiet morning moments of prayer, but also throughout the moments of my day; not just today, but every day.
