Morning by Morning, October 14 - Seeing and Speaking “the Substance” of Faith Good morning, Lord Jesus. Help me hear Your voice in my heart and following the leading of Your Spirit, as I seek to begin my day embraced by my Father, centered in Christ, and filled with Your Holy Spirit (John 10:3). ... “I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, and for this reason I do not cease to give thanks for you as I remember you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation as you come to know Him, so that, with the eyes of your heart enlightened, you may perceive what is the hope to which He has called you, what are the riches of His glorious inheritance among the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of His power for us who believe, according to the working of His great power” (Ephesians 1:15-19). I’m here at “The School of the Prophets” taught by Chris Reed and his team at MorningStar Ministries for a long weekend of equipping and training for ministry. An emphasis has been on seeing with eyes of faith, seeing with the eyes of our heart, seeing the “blueprint of heaven” according to Your plans and Your will with the “substance” of faith. Not only seeing, but also creatively speaking what we see and hear from that heavenly perspective -- all in submission to Your will and plans and purposes. I know I need more sensitivity, more faith, more expectancy -- which only You can provide as the Source of all those things. I know I need “a spirit of wisdom and revelation as (I) come to know (You).” Apart from You, I can do nothing (John 15:4). And part of the journey of my faith is growing in understanding and embracing the truth that I’m never apart from You and that You are always here with me, even here within me -- “Christ in (me), the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). Teach me more about the “substance” of faith. Teach me more about the “substance” of the One who is our Faith, who seeks to abide in us with even Your words abiding in us (John 15:7). Teach me more about the One who is the Word of God made flesh and still desiring to speak the words of God through us, by grace, through faith (John 1:14; 1 Corinthians 14:1). “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible” (Hebrews 11:1-3). There’s more to this connection between seeing things with the eyes of our hearts and speaking things with a heart of faith that I know I need to learn. There’s more to understanding what You have “framed by the word of God” and the words You entrust to us to speak according to what we see that I need to learn. There’s a “substance” to faith and a “substance” to words that I believe You’re wanting us to learn, that You’re desiring for the Body and Bride of Christ to understand. Why? ... What comes to me this morning are these Words of Yours of our true identity and prophetic destiny in Christ: Because “we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us” (2 Corinthians 5:20). Because “we have the mind of Christ” (1 Corinthians 2:16). Because we are “predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren” (Romans 8:29). Because “we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord” (2 Corinthians 3:18). Because we “should follow in His steps” (1 Peter 2:21). Because “as He is, so are we in this world” (1 John 4:17). “Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received. Whoever speaks must do so as one speaking the very words of God; whoever serves must do so with the strength that God supplies, so that God may be glorified in all things through Jesus Christ. To Him belong the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen” (1 Peter 4:10-11). Give me a humble heart and a teachable spirit. Put Your thoughts in my mind, Your desires in my heart, Your words in my mouth. Help me see what You’re doing and hear what You’re saying and then be obedient to speak and to act as You are leading -- all by the power of Your grace at work within me. “For God is working in (me and all of the Body and Bride of Christ who will seek, surrender, and submit to Your will and Your ways in our lives and through our lives), giving (us) the desire and the power to do what pleases (You)” (Philippians 2:13). Give me the grace to be “a good steward” of this “manifold grace of God” entrusted to me and to each of Your sons and daughters of God, as disciples of Jesus, and as “ambassadors for Christ” in our world. Let Your words become flesh, become “substance,” through us. “Christ in (us), the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
