Morning by Morning, January 18 - “No Hands but Your Hands” Good morning, Lord Jesus. Let the Light of Your Spirit fill my spirit and flow out of my heart, now and throughout the moments of my day. ... As I listen in the silence of surrender before You, seeking You alone in these first moments of my morning, I hear You speaking in rhythm and rhyme in my heart: Draw near and hear Look up and listen Watch and wait For I AM here My thoughts in your mind My desires in your heart My words in your mouth For I AM here No hands but your hands No feet but your feet No moves but your moves For I AM here I in you You in Me My Spirit filling your spirit For I AM here Yes, Lord. You call us test every word we believe we hear to be sure it is of You (1 John 4:1), to “test everything, but hold fast what is good” and true (1 Thessalonians 5:21). As I discern these words, testing these spoken words against the plumbline of Your written Word to confirm they are from You, these Scriptures come to mind immediately: “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you” (James 4:8). “For God alone my soul waits in silence, for my hope is from Him” (Psalm 62:5). “Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!” (Psalm 27:14). “Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long” (Psalm 25:4-5). “For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in one Spirit we were baptized in to one body -- Jews or Greeks, slaves or free -- and were all made to drink of one Spirit.... Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it” (1 Corinthians 12:12-27). “Be filled with the Spirit” (Ephesians 5:18). “You are not in the flesh; you are in the Spirit, since the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to Him. But if Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. If the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also through His Spirit that dwells in you” (Romans 8:9-11). So, come, Holy Spirit. Come fill me up and flow out of me. Let me stretch out my hands and walk out my journey and speak out my words throughout the moments of my day as part of the body of Christ in my world, filled with the Spirit of Christ in me to the glory of my Father today. “Christ in (me), the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). As You are, so am I to be, in my world each day (1 John 4:17) -- as best as I can and all by Your grace. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
