Morning by Morning, July 7 - The Dam is Bursting! The Gates are Opening! “Go through the Gates!” Good morning, Lord Jesus. Fill me afresh with Your Holy Spirit, as You put Your thoughts in my mind and Your desires in my heart, abiding in me, as I abide in You (John 15:4). ... With the eyes of my heart, as I wait on You in prayer, I see a picture of a dam breaking open and torrents of water rushing through. I’ve seen this before, it’s a much stronger image this time. And I hear this Scripture from the Prophetic Words of Isaiah rising up in my spirit: “Go through, Go through the gates! Prepare the way for the people; Build up, Build up the highway! Take out the stones, Lift up a banner for the peoples!” (Isaiah 62:10 NKJV) That dam is like a gate that’s been holding back the blessings of God. It’s like an artificial structure that’s been built across the River of Life, the River of God that’s meant to flow freely through our lives and across our land. The Book of Revelation speaks of a River of Life “proceeding from the throne of God” in the last Chapter of the Bible: “And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him. They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads. There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever” (Revelation 22:1-5). And Psalm 46 speaks of this same river: “There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High. God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn” (Psalm 46:4-5). One day soon the dam’s going to break! One day soon those gates are going to break open. One day soon that River of God is going to come rushing like a mighty torrent into our hearts and throughout this earth! You said at the end of that final chapter of the Bible, “Surely I am coming quickly!” (Revelation 22:20) “And the Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!” (Revelation 22:17) But between this day and that glorious day to come, You are calling us to have our hearts prepared for Your coming. As You declared through the Prophet Isaiah: “Go through, Go through the gates! Prepare the way for the people; Build up, Build up the highway! Take out the stones, Lift up a banner for the peoples!” (Isaiah 62:10 NKJV) To prepare for this breakthrough in our lives, this bursting of the dam of all that would hold back the blessings and the promises of God in our lives, we have to be prepared in our hearts. We have to allow You to build up what’s been broken down: Our weariness, our discouragement, our disappointments. We have to allow You to take out the stones: Our stumbling blocks, our sins, all that would trip us up and weigh us down. And we have to let You lift up Your banner over our lives: Your banner over us is Your love (Song of Solomon 2:4). Your banner over us is Your Word, Your Promises, Your will over our lives. And though the enemy of our souls wants to come in like a flood, You lift up Your banner over us, and it’s Your flood that will wash over us with Your River of Life flowing through us (Isaiah 59:19 KJV). So let that dam begin to burst in our lives! Prepare our hearts for the breakthroughs to come! By the grace of God, let us go through those gates! Fulfill Your Word in our hearts and in our lives, when You said of the people of God who are called by Your name: “And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of (Hell) shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven!” (Matthew 16:18-19) By the grace of God, it’s time to go through those gates. By the grace of God, it’s time for that dam to burst. By the grace of God, it’s time for the River of God to flow! In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
