Morning by Morning, July 11 - “The King of Glory” Coming Through the Gates of Our Hearts Good morning, Lord Jesus. Fill my heart with Your Spirit, my thoughts with Your wisdom, my mouth with Your words, as You make me more like. You today (Romans 8:29). ... As I begin my day, I’m reminded of Your goodness, Your mercy, and Your grace that fresh and new for me and every one of Your children every morning. “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases. His mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning. Great is Your faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:22-23). And as I open up my heart to You, and welcome Your Holy Spirit to fill me afresh to begin my day in communion with You, these words of one of my favorite Psalms come to mind. Just as it speaks of lifting up our heads and opening up our gates, I lift up my face to Your Presence and open up the gates of my heart to welcome You -- “the King of Glory” -- to come into my heart and every moment of my day: 1 The earth is the LORD’s, and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell therein. 2 For He has founded it upon the seas, And established it upon the waters. 3 Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD? Or who may stand in His holy place? 4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, Nor sworn deceitfully. 5 He shall receive blessing from the LORD, And righteousness from the God of his salvation. 6 This Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him, Who seek Your face. Selah 7 Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of Glory shall come in. 8 Who is this King of Glory? The LORD strong and mighty, The LORD mighty in battle. 9 Lift up your heads, O you gates! Lift up, you everlasting doors! And the King of Glory shall come in. 10 Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, He is the King of Glory!” (Psalm 24:1-10) King of Glory, I lift up my head and open up my heart to welcome You into every moment of my day and all of my life.
