Morning by Morning, October 20 - Knowing Good and Evil by Turning to the One Who is True Good morning, Lord Jesus. I call on Your name and listen for Your voice to lead me now and throughout the moments of my day (John 10:27). ... “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and shrewd in their own sight!” (Isaiah 5:20-21) Trust is shattered. Deception abounds. Not only among those who have sworn to destroy us in their hatred of us, but even among much our own leadership, media, and institutions. Now, more than ever, we need discernment; we need Divine Guidance; we need godly intervention to know what is right and true. We must be grounded in the Word of God and led by the Spirit of God. “Your Word is truth” (John 17:17). “The Word of God will never fail” (Luke 1:37 NLT). “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God” (Romans 8:14). “The natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges all things...” (1 Corinthians 2:14-15). We can’t wait for the world to tell us what is true. We can’t wait around to see it on our televisions or read it on our computers. We must pursue the One who is the Truth -- the One who said and still says, “I AM the Way, and the Truth, and the Life” (John 14:6). When we know the Truth, “the Truth shall make (us) free” (John 8:32). “And if the Son makes (us) free, (we) shall be free indeed!” (John 8:36) We’ll be free from depending upon the world for our truth and for our wisdom and for our guidance. We’ll break free from our tendency to keep lusting after the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil which leads only to confusion, deception, and death; and we’ll be drawn to the fruit of the Spirit of the Wisdom of God that’s only found in the Tree of Life (Genesis 2:9, 16-17). You are the Tree of Life (Revelation 2:7). You are the Wisdom of God (1 Corinthians 1:24). You are the Discernment we need to know what is true and what is false, what is good and what is evil, and to know what to do and when to do it. So let us set aside our pride and our foolishness, as we look to You--grounded in Your Word and led by Your Spirit, into all that is good and right and true. We will truly discern and know good and evil only as we turn to the One who is True. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
