Morning by Morning, October 27, 2025 – Wisdom Cries Out Good morning, Lord Jesus. Looking to You, listening for You, I watch and wait for the leading of Your Spirit (John 10:27). ... “Does not wisdom cry out, And understanding lift up her voice? She takes her stand on the top of the high hill, Beside the way, where the paths meet. She cries out by the gates, at the entry of the city, At the entrance of the doors: ‘To you, O men, I call, And my voice is to the sons of men’” (Proverbs 8:1-4). Thank You for Your wisdom — a manifestation of the Spirit of God, an expression of the manifest Presence of God, along with understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, and the holy fear of the Lord: “The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord” (Isaiah 11:2). You promise us if we ask for wisdom, You will give it, saying, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally without reproach, and it will be given to him” (James 1:5). And at the same time, we must “ask in faith, with no doubting” (v. 6). In faith, I ask for Your wisdom. In every way I’m lacking wisdom, I’m asking for wisdom. In every way that I’m mistaken the wisdom of this world for the wisdom of heaven, I’m asking for Your wisdom. Wisdom to know the truth. Wisdom to know how to respond for the challenges I face today and to prepare for those I’ll face tomorrow. Wisdom to release the mistakes and missteps of my past to You for You to forgive and redeem and even turn it all around for good, teaching me and training me through the wisdom that comes from both my successes and my failures, in the wisdom You’re developing in me. Let all that I do, let the choices that I make, be grounded in Your Word as You fill me with Your Spirit, that all may be done by the power of Your grace “in the meekness of wisdom” (James 1:13). My “meekness” is admitting my need of Your wisdom. I do need it. And I do ask for it. And in faith, believing, I do receive it. Not the wisdom from this world below. But the wisdom that comes from above, the wisdom that comes from You: “The wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy” (James 3:17). That’s the kind of wisdom I need. That’s the kind of wisdom I receive. That’s the kind of wisdom that’s crying out to me, calling out to me and to “the sons of men,” to all who will listen, to hear Your voice, the voice of wisdom. This deeply needed, always available, manifestation of the Spirit and the Presence of God. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
